I realize this is an old thread, but I thought perhaps more people have had the opportunity to have tried both lines and can share opinions.

Thank you soundcruiser.

Just clarification..........Is this rule "no jeans anywhere at night" or only "no jeans while dining, except in World Café"?
-
I searched here and looked on Viking website, but still unclear. Do both people in suite have wifi, or is it for one device per cabin?
That was how it was on regent, and we didn't realize until onboard. It was fine, we took turns logging in... Lol

If you want to do more exciting excursion' date=' you will have to pay something. On our cruise it was from an additional $49 pp up to $159 pp for an all day excursion. Those have less people.[/quote]
Were there a lot of optional excursions to choose from? Those prices seem very reasonable, unless it was a few unpopular things.....

Other than Chase Sapphire, which cards do you think offer most travel rewards/perks?

Positives:
Too many to mention. Download the app.
Sounds great! thanks

Are cigarettes available to purchase onboard? What about over-the-counter meds, such as cold medicine?
-
Are there cigarettes available on pretty much as cruise lines?
Sorry, I meant to say "all cruise lines". Specifically wondering about Viking

Has anyone gotten a chance to use it while onboard? Can it be used to check for excursions that might become available (due to people canceling, extra times added....) during the cruise?
-
If an excursion if full, are you able to check if anything opens up while onboard using the Voyager app? What is the app for?

Has anyone booked tours through viator.com?

I am hoping that Viking improves the excursion issues by next summer. I am doing the Alaska Inside Passage itinerary, and I'm a little nervous to begin with because that's a new itinerary for them. I have never cruised Alaska, and perhaps should have gone with a line that has all the kinks ironed out already! I just heard such good things about Viking! lol

Extremely useful! Thank you. I have only taken one cruise, and after shopping around (ok, only a little), I ended up going with Regent. When it said on their site "call for quote", I ended up with an unadvertised really lower price! I do know they offer savings to book another while on board, but, it isn't something I can afford to do that often!
I have an Alaska cruise booked with Viking Ocean in 2019, but again, it was a limited time offer that included air, and TA got me additional savings. So keep that in mind-always be on lookout for specials

My suggestion for how Regent corporate could improve would be that they should read the CC threads devoted to Regent topics by supposedly valued customers who are trying to communicate in real time vs. only on board comment cards. There is clearly a frustration level with this company that they are choosing to ignore.
That is what happens on the Viking Ocean board. There are many threads where the Viking representative just "chimes in".

How are you all finding such deals?? lol
Do you have a travel agent spotting them, or do you find them on your own?

We are only in a DV, so I suppose I will be buying two pairs-one for each of us
-
Last I looked there were only the two of us, but since it's not until July 2019, hopefully that will change! I don't think the roll call can even be searched yet, so that doesn't help......
-
How good are the binoculars in your stateroom? I am sailing Alaska and Inside Passage next year. I know it's early, but wondering if I should purchase a pair or just use those?
-
I'm sure the technology exists for faster, more reliable internet. I'm sure it's expensive. And I'm sure Regent doesn't want to pay for it - but if they're billing themselves as a 6-star experience, they're going to have no choice.
</RantOff>
This is exactly the point. If other ships (mainstream, premium, whatever) can provide it, then surely Regent can. As stated earlier, a "luxury experience" includes ALL aspects of your cruise. For some passengers, wi-fi is every bit as important to having an enjoyable vacation as as the quality of food and drink.

Are the prices of each package not available to view on RCCI's website? I mean, prior to booking? I was trying to get an idea on what the costs are
-
Would you say the spa/salon services are fairly reasonable, or more along the lines of "outrageous". lol
Regent or Viking Ocean?
