  1. On our Thanksgiving week cruise they kept showing soccer. ESPN must have been on the international channel because all week it was soccer and cricket. There wasn't even a crawl at the bottom of the screen with scores or anything. Will never cruise during football season again.

We left on the Breakaway on a Sunday out of NYC in Oct so the 1 pm, 4 pm, & night game were on the TVs, even on the big screen in H2o. As the week went on only the National league games were played, on an East Coast sailing with a lot of Boston people on the ship; look at the roll call NCL. So as the week went by only NL games, when the NLCS was over and there was an ALCS game being played, all the TV's in all the bars & casino were playing SOCCER.

I asked members of the cruise directors and was told sorry, but any who,,,, the Redsox WON.

  3. Hi guys

I am an experienced NCL Cruiser and I find this company very nice. No dresscode, no fixed table at fixed hour with fixed waiter, etc. So next year my next big trip will take place. I'll do the transatlantic Cruise from Barcelona to Miami on the Norwegian Epic. After that one week Disney World and then the east-coast of the USA (Washington, New York, Boston) and Canada.

So I started reading some reviews for the Epic and I'm somewhat shocked about all the bad reviews that seem to arrive the last few weeks. If you go back further in time the Epic always get 4-5 rating, with some rare 2 or less, but now the majority of reviews has a 1-2 rating.

I know the Epic has some issues, but why of a sudden is everything so bad on this ship? Is there a new management? I'm getting a bit worried for my trip... Fortunately I have a Haven-suite...

    Any experiences here?

    See review from today.

  4. The bartenders also got a little upset if you ordered something that was not house liquor....I understand and I was willing to pay for the drinks, I just didn't like the feeling that you wanted something for nothing.....

WELL ... for two cruises with in 8 months on the same ship, Gem, it seamed the entire bar staff would up charge my drinks while using house brands. I saw it happen 1st hand and when I questioned why the casino bartender got an attitude. I checked the few slips in my pocket and 60% had been up charged.

If you are paying for the top shelf brand it increases the cost and the 15% tip, they shouldn't have an issue.

  5. I was on the Breakaway in Aug and Oct,,, Rock of Ages is great (it is rated PG /PG-13). In Aug i dont recall a message about the "Blue" language, in Oct it was there.

Burn the floor was ok, saw it the 1st time. The 2nd city lunch show was funny, as was "Dream". We saw the Cirque on the Epic, I liked it on the better, but the breakaway Cirque is worth the take.

For NCL 1st timers,,, don't miss the crews show and Fountains.

  6. Had them at the Frog and Onion, they were OK. But for 25 bucks I've had much better

If I had one choose of places to eat,,, Flannagans,,, I was at the Frog in Aug,, the service was poor and the 17% added to te check did not make me happy. As I was leaving I told the Manager that the service wasn't worth the 17%,,, he said / did nothing.

Now I want to say, I did email the Frog and was given a sorry and the offer of free meal on my next trip.

  7. As you can see, we DW and I have been to Bermuda 8 times, the last time we did more new stuff.

Pease check out the new Fun Golf,,, 18hole mini golf that is MUCH different. Check it out online.

  8. Just got off Breakaway. Dan was very pleasant, as was Simon, the assistant CD. Simon also got off yesterday for vacation - I don't know who is taking over for him.

Simon mentioned who was taking over for him but I can't recall her name, she is a current member of the Cruise Director Staff.

  9. Funny you say that about your kids Karysa, I am a middle school physical education teacher and I hate to see kids get on the elevator and go up only one or two floors and then run away when they get off.......so they clearly do not have physical issues that would prevent them from taking the stairs. My DH gets mad at me because I actually say something to them about how rude that is.......what can I say even when I am on vacation I am still thinking about the obesity of our children!!

The last two cruises DW and I didn't take an elevator for ANY reason till late day 5 or early day 6 and only if it was more than 3 floors. If you can't walk and have the ability walk,,,,, plus we gained only 3 lbs each and got back to normal weight within a week.

  10. Those are among the worst.

They are covered, but they are deeper in the superstructure and two of them (9227 and 9229) can be observed from higher decks of the adjacent "hump" and from exposed 9225 balcony as well.

9227, 9229 and 9231 balconies have less view of the sea, but more view of the roofless balconies of the deck 8 in front below. Huge lifeboats spoil the rest of the view.

lusitanica,,, I love the picture... I am in 12231 can you repost the plain picture without the lines to the cabin on desk 9. I want is for my pictures on FB

    MANY THANKS

  11. They always have to squeeze a penny to try and make it a dime.

Going to add fuel to the squeezing statement. On the Oct 2010 Jewell cruise I found several members of the bar staff up charging me for “Top Shelf” liquor when standard was used, and when asked about it the bar staff lied to my face. The lie was confirmed when I called and confronted the Food and Beverage Director, the F&B Director credited that drink and spoke to the person involved, it happened two more times that cruise bar other members of the bars staff at other bars on the ship.

So I ask the question, why did this happen????? The Bar staff makes nothing more on the sale other than the additional .03 cent tip,,,, a TRUE nickel and penny
