We are going with friends on a European cruise (Yay! First time there for all of us!) this September. How do we link our reservations so that we will 1) be seated together at dinner and 2) that we will be in the same group for our excursions?

We've traveled with family before but we didn't need to link anything since we didn't do any ship excursions and we had anytime dining.

For excursions I think you all just need to turn up at the allocated meeting point (stated on your excursion ticket) together - that way you get the same numbered sticker and will be put on the same coach, even if there are several coaches on the same excursion.

Ah thank you sounds the same as P&O then. Its usually only breakfast we would order if we had a trip booked and wanted to be out early.

Yep that’s what we do if we have a trip booked - just make sure you order from the ‘Continental breakfast’ side of the menu, and not the ‘American breakfast’ side 😊

My adult daughter and I just got off a cruise on the Independence. First of all, I paid more for this 5 day cruise than some 7 day ones. Embarkation was slower than slow. Im Diamond plus and and was shown no consideration. They corral you into a seating area and we waited 1.5 hours to board. On boarding, the first thing I noticed was dirty rugs and scuffed floors. Not a good first impression. We found a seat on deck to sun in at 8:00 am and went to eat for approximately 15 minutes. When we returned, pool staffed had placed s chain with a sign saying, reserved for suite guests. Well, the sign was not there when we first came but they proceeded to throw us out ( Im Diamond plus remember). At this point the deck was crowded. So much for the no reserving seats rule. Let me see, this was my 40th cruise. Im sure Ive spent as much as suite guests. If you’re going to have a rule, it should apply to everyone. Staff was great. The food was ok, not exceptional. The drinks are getting way too expensive. But I think they do this to push you towards purchasing a package. Plus, the drinks seemed watered down. Looks like I need to reconsider where my loyalty lies.

So you want special treatment for being ‘Diamond Plus’ (as I suspect literally THOUSANDS of people are), but you DON’T feel suite guests should have any special treatment (i.e. reserved sun beds)? Also, you moan about ‘so much for the reserved seating rule’, but also moan when they threw you out of the RESERVED suite section? Seems you want all the good bits but don’t want anyone else to have them!

I would occasionally like to send an email to a specific position or department aboard an RCCL ship.  I have a start at figuring out the 'code' for their email addresses, but maybe if we all pooled our info we could do this.  I know that AD_DiamondConcierge@rccl.com is the Diamond Concierge aboard Adventure. My guess is that VI_DiamondConcierge@rccl.com would be the Diamond Concierge aboard Vision  and that AD_MaitreD@rccl.com might be the MaitreD on Adventure.  Could someone more informed than me fill me in with the 2-digit ships codes for RCL  and some of the more important (to passengers) positions?

I’m guessing if they wanted you to have their email addresses they would have given them to you?

I am a first time cruiser and booked our Norwegian Fjords cruise with Royal Caribbean over a year ago.  I have been adding and paying for things as they have come up.  Now, I am being advised to cancel and rebook things to save money!  Is it just me, or does anyone else find this infuriating?  Does this happen with other cruise lines?

You're not being "advised" to do anything. If you want to save money, the option is there to cancel and rebook the shore excursions.

  6. I had a WOW band when I sailed on the Anthem - I loved it!! It’s a bit annoying having to take it off your wrist every time to get a drink but I found it so much easier than the card!!! Especially to get in your room when you have hands full of stuff!!!!! If my next cruise offers them (which I think it does) I will definitely buy one! 😀 Hope this helps!

I would like to purchase 1 Deluxe Beverage Package with Vroom and 1 Deluxe Beverage Package . Why does RCL require you to purchase 2 Deluxe Beverage Packages with Vroom?? This makes no sense at all.  So frustrating. Had I known this I would not have cancelled my current beverage packages (without Vroom). Now I'm forced to buy 2 packages with Vroom or just buy Vroom individually and pay almost $5/day more for Vroom vs the Price included with Beverage package

Are you sure you can’t do this online? I did - I just added one with Voom to my basket and one without 🙂

I'm looking at the Oasis class ships and while we have gone on both Oasis and Harmony, we were in suites so had the tub shower combo. Now we are looking at just staying in a balcony  room and I am having a hard time trying to figure out showering in that tiny shower. I am 5'7" and my husband is 6'. We both are on the fluffy size and me being a woman, I need to be able to shave my legs. I just cannot imagine how I am going to be able to make that happen in the capsule shower. I know this sounds stupid, but can someone give me a real and honest idea of how hard it is to take a shower in these?

I must admit I always shave my legs at the sink before my shower! It’s just easier! 😀

This is from Cruise Line's website. I can't post the link

In what may be the boldest move yet in a la carte cruise pricing, Carnival Cruise Line revealed this morning that effective October 1, 2019, passengers will be individually weighed at embarkation and disembarkation, and charged a per-pound fee if they gain more than 1 lb. per night of their cruise. Passengers losing at least 1 lb. per day will receive a rebate in the form of an onboard credit valid on their next Carnival sailing.

"Encouraging healthy behavior is the primary driver behind this change," Carnival Cruise Line CEO Christine Duffy said. "We want to discourage overeating and encourage guests to utilize our fitness center and jogging track."

"Reducing our food costs is an ancillary benefit," Duffy added. "We know Guy's Burgers and our lido buffet are tempting, and some guests over-indulge. If we can encourage each guest to eat a salad for lunch or skip the melting chocolate cake at dinner, it's a win-win. The guest is making healthier choices, and we're saving money. In the same way you pay for optional service like a spa treatment or shore excursion, guests who over-utilize our dining outlets will be asked to cover a portion of the extra food costs," she said.

Guests who gain more than 7 lbs on a 7 night cruise will be assessed a $10 per pound "Dining Fee" charged to their onboard account at disembarkation. Guests who lose at least 7 lbs on a 7 night cruise will receive a $5 per pound onboard credit valid for their next cruise within 2 years, Carnival said.

Research has shown cruise passengers gain an average of 5-7 lbs during a cruise, according to registered dietician Darlene Jones, so the Carnival plan is fair. "I'm onboard with this — no pun intended," Jones said. "They're targeting passengers who overeat or who aren't active during the cruise. I think it will cut down on crowds in the elevators as more passengers use the stairs. This is going to be effective."

In addition to embarkation and disembarkation ports. scales will also be placed near the gangway at most ports of call so guests can "check-in" and see if they need to skip dinner that night or can indulge with an extra pizza at midnight.

Those who cruise for the food aren't entirely out of luck, though. Can't resist that third burrito at the Blue Iguana Cantina? Guests will be able to pre-purchase a "Fatter to the Fun" pass for $19 per-person that will exempt them from both being weighed and any surcharges at disembarkation.

"We thought today, April Fool's Day, would be an excellent day to announce this bold new plan," Duffy said.

    I’ll be skint 🤣🤣

I find it unbelievable that Royal are actually launching a brand new ship in 3 weeks time. However these pages are not not flooded with excitement and posts about Spectrum of the Seas.

Now of course I know that this ship is heading ( from Barcelona ) to the Chinese Market, and yet many of us will either be sailing on this ship, or at least interested in the changes they have made with the introduction of Gold and Silver Suite facilities. Even the Royal marketing machine has been very quite on this one, is there something they don’t want us to know ??

There is a whole Spectrum of the Seas thread with pictures etc. ..............

  11. Make sure to come back here and let us know what you thought to the ship - and to cruising in general! My first Royal Caribbean cruise was on the Anthem, and whilst we were on it we heard so many people talking about the Indy we thought we had to try it for ourselves! A couple of years later we were lucky enough to sail on her and loved it so much we sailed on her again later that same year! She still remains my favourite of the ships I have been on so far x

Meyer usually publishes the detailed schedule about two days before the conveyance but the final decision to go ahead always comes in the last hours. The critical conveyance takes about 10 hours from Papenburg to Emden. The remaining distance to Emshaven in the Netherlands is not that narrow and easy.

Does any part of the conveyance get filmed or streamed online or anything?  I would love to watch it!! :classic_biggrin:
