I find it unbelievable that Royal are actually launching a brand new ship in 3 weeks time. However these pages are not not flooded with excitement and posts about Spectrum of the Seas.

Now of course I know that this ship is heading ( from Barcelona ) to the Chinese Market, and yet many of us will either be sailing on this ship, or at least interested in the changes they have made with the introduction of Gold and Silver Suite facilities. Even the Royal marketing machine has been very quite on this one, is there something they don’t want us to know ??

There is a whole Spectrum of the Seas thread with pictures etc. ..............

  2. Make sure to come back here and let us know what you thought to the ship - and to cruising in general! My first Royal Caribbean cruise was on the Anthem, and whilst we were on it we heard so many people talking about the Indy we thought we had to try it for ourselves! A couple of years later we were lucky enough to sail on her and loved it so much we sailed on her again later that same year! She still remains my favourite of the ships I have been on so far x

Meyer usually publishes the detailed schedule about two days before the conveyance but the final decision to go ahead always comes in the last hours. The critical conveyance takes about 10 hours from Papenburg to Emden. The remaining distance to Emshaven in the Netherlands is not that narrow and easy.

Does any part of the conveyance get filmed or streamed online or anything?  I would love to watch it!! :classic_biggrin:

You need to check out distances from the port to the towns.

Le Havre is a 3hr drive each way from Paris. Far better to visit some quintessentially beautiful towns like Rouen, or Honfleur, or the Normandy landing beaches which you mention.

Zebrugge is 30 mins from Bruges, there are busses at the port gates that will run a regular shuttle into Bruges for about €20pp. Far cheaper than ships transfer.

Oslo you are docked right in town.

Yep I agree!!  I would 100% recommend Honfleur when you dock in Le Havre.  Its absolutely beautiful. :-)

I hope they decide to home one in Southampton. The UK market has little competition at the moment. A majority of Brits cruise with P&O, and most of their ships are based in Southampton in the summer months, with a handful going elsewhere in the winter for the sun. They have just released their biggest ship, "Iona", which apparently is selling very well.

Independence has always fared well. I wonder if they are using the Anthem to understand the interest in  super ships from the UK. They would have to run her on a 12 night/2 week cruise to get over to the ports that could hold her in Western Europe!

I would love it. As convenient and well priced P&O are, it is just a bit too British for me. I go on holiday to escape the UK!

I would DEFINITELY want to try an Oasis class if one came to Southampton!  Even one of the older ones!  It's the only class I really want to sail on that I haven't yet!!

Dont even get me started on this and these entitled people!

Here is a service dog!  She pulls me in my wheelchair, she fetches items I need, she picks up stuff I drop, if Im laying in bed she will come lay beside me so I can use her as a prop to raise myself.  These are just a few things she has been trained to do!   No worries though as you wont ever see her on a cruise because I would NEVER subject her to the closed in confinement of a cruise ship!   Not to mention I try to respect my fellow guests who are either allergic or even afraid of big dogs.   Im fortunate to have her but Im also fortunate that I dont NEED her 24/7 and just like having a child, its nice to have a break once in a while!

I know some of you have seen me post this many times over the years but these people that bring their ill mannered and untrained PETS infuriate me!   I wont hesitate to call them out on it either, in a nice manner of course.

    She’s gorgeous xx

  7. I didnt cruise any RCL cruises in between and was Emerald last time I looked. Did RCL change their loyalty program so you are Diamond with fewer cruises?

It says Im Diamond now with 109 days. Does that mean I get the free mixed drinks and hot pupus lounge now? Or did they change the perks too?

Im assuming that Diamond is now the old Emerald, as I see a Diamond Plus category at 175 nights, and suspect that to get into what used to be the diamond lounge you have to be diamond plus?

You go to Diamond at 80 cruise nights - I thought this had always been the case? The next is Diamond Plus at 175.

  8. Hi guys!

Finally got our oceanview guarantee! We will be in 11502 - which is smack dab facing front! We are excited about it, but it is so hard to find information on these cabins! Does anyone have any insight into these facing front cabins? Do you feel a lot of rocking?

    TIA!

    Hi,

I had the same kind of cabin on Anthem (think it was deck 10) - it had the most amazing views over the winch pad and would definitely advise to keep it. I remember feeling a bit sea sick on one particular day but I don’t think that was anything to do with the cabin placement, more to do with the Bay of Biscay :') so I wouldn’t worry about feeling too much rocking! I liked my cabin so much I have one in pretty much the same place booked on Spectrum next year! :):)

  9. Hello, Loyal to Royal Cruisers!

I am going on my first Royal Caribbean cruise in December. I went on the web site and pre-purchased the Deluxe Beverage Package and the 2 VOOM Surf + Stream Package (2 devices).

What I'd like to know is how I will receive notification of these packages once I'm aboard. I'll be on Jewel of the Seas, if that makes a difference.

Bonus question: I booked this cruise through a travel agent. I called RCI about pre-paying the tips. They sad I need to do that through my travel agent. Does that sound right?

    Thank you!

    James

Last year I went on the Independence and the deal I booked included free VOOM - I was given a card with the WiFi code on it - I think that was at check in. As for the drinks package, it will show DX on your Seapass card. Happy Sailing 😊😊
