  1. No. They are heated when they determine it is required.
  2. If Royal released more there would be that many more cancellations like Ovation in 2025. It's bad enough now. With everything released all at once they would need 10x the staff to manage the redeployment issues when they change their mind.
  3. I lived on St. Thomas for a short spell. Driving on the left in a North American left drive is unique sort of special. Easy peasy. My OV cabin for a B3B was a 4D balcony. That same cabin on QN is a 5D. Securing the same cabin for a QN B3B may be an issue since they won't put a solo in a 5D. I won't know until well after the deadline to request a refund. Royal doesn't care when moving ships like this. They'll move people wherever to get the move done. I'm not sure I want to play that game.
  4. Unsure if I'll move to QN. I might just go to Australia, ride some trains around the country and fly home.
  5. They didn't offer to move you to Quantum? Here is my OV cancellation email: Dear Guest, Due to an adjustment in our itinerary planning, our upcoming April 29th, 2025 9-night Hawaii sailing onboard Ovation of the Seas has unfortunately been cancelled. Quantum of the Seas will now take Ovation of the Seas’ place sailing an 8-Night Hawaii Cruise departing April 28th, 2025, from Honolulu, Hawaii and disembarking in Vancouver, British Columbia. With a similar itinerary and length of sailing, we have automatically moved your reservation to the new 8-Night Quantum of the Seas sailing in your original stateroom category, for the same price as your 9-Night Ovation of the Seas cruise. Your holiday is important to us. While we’re confident you’ll have an amazing time onboard Quantum of the Seas and enjoy many of the same features as Ovation of the Seas, we still want you to have the flexibility to make the best decision for you and those in your party. Below, we’ve outlined your options along with a few additional details. Option 1: Automatically move to the new 8-Night Hawaii Cruise onboard Quantum of the Seas, departing April 28th, 2025: Sailing from Honolulu, Hawaii and disembarking in Vancouver, British Columbia visiting: Kailua Kona, Hawaii | and Napali Coast, Kuai, Hawaii (Scenic Cruising) What you’ll receive: We’ll automatically move you to the Quantum of the Seas sailing departing on April 28th, 2025. So, there’s nothing for you to do! We’ll move you to a like-for-like stateroom and your original stateroom category price will be prorated for the change in sailing nights, and any overage will be refunded. This excludes taxes, fees, gratuities (where applicable), and other non-cruise fare items. If your booking was already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we’ll provide you with a refund for the difference. You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment within 14 business days after we move you. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution. Option 2: Re-book any other Royal Caribbean International sailing If you prefer to re-book another sailing, we’ll waive any non-refundable deposit change fees. Please know, you’ll be responsible for any difference in pricing for your cruise fare, taxes, fees, gratuities (where applicable), and other non-cruise fare items. If your booking was already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we’ll provide you with a refund for the difference. Option 3: If you can’t find a new itinerary that works for you and choose to cancel, we’ll be sad to see you go, but hope you’ll come back soon. You’ll receive: A full refund of any paid portion of your cruise fare (including non-refundable deposits) and any pre-paid amenities to the original form of payment. If you used a Future Cruise Credit on this sailing, and you request a refund instead, we’ll refund any NEW funds paid above the certificate amount, and we’ll reinstate your original certificate. If you booked your airfare through Royal Caribbean International, it will be automatically refunded to you. However, if you booked on your own, please contact the service provider directly for your options with them. Please note, if you choose this option, we will not provide additional compensation. Any refunds due will be credited to your original form of payment within 14 business days after your decision – kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution. It’s important to us that you find the best cruise option. Please contact us no later than February 20th, 2024, to let us know if you no longer wish to retain your booking on the new Quantum of the Seas April 28th, 2025, sailing, otherwise we’ll automatically confirm your acceptance of Option 1 on February 20th. 6. Radiance has shorepower. When they added that to her I have no idea. It's possible any ship that has dry docked in the past 5 years now has it. That's pretty much any of them that could have it. It's not something they advertise.
  7. They are sending out notice for OV in the spring of 2025 cancellations to North American guests. OV April 3, 2025, South Pacific OV April 12, 2025, TP OV April 29, 2025 Hawaii All cancelled. Must notify them of intentions by Feb. 20, 2025.
  8. At least you know the next person loves to cruise.
  9. Wow. Least favorite port of all time. Makes Nassau look pretty awesome.
  10. Are people actually booking a cruise that only goes to Ensenada?
  11. The twice weekly tendering would be a PITA for Q class. Q class can tender and they do at some stops when down under or Hawaii but those aren't twice weekly. Pretty draining on the deck crew.
  12. Pinnacle relationships work for a spouse, not for dependent children.
  13. Available Pinnacle seeks single female. 🤣
  14. In the olden days one could find deals to climb the ladder when it made sense to achieve status for a special future cruise. At today's rates I think it's harder to find value in taking a cruise for points.
  15. With expedition, cruising, they basically take the people who would be entertainers, dancers, singers, etc. and replace them with expedition team members. The focus of expedition cruising is the expedition aspect with much less focus on entertainment around the ship. That being said, there was a pianist and a guitarist vocalist. We’re both very good. This is the nature of expedition cruising.
  16. The bow? No unobstructed views forward on this class except from the bridge wings off the solarium. On that other site I didn't realize you were looking at forward views. I've done this class to many bucket list destinations such as Alaska twice, New Zealand and Hawaii. The best view are from the suite sun deck where it is very easy to move from port to starboard to port. The exception is Odyssey where this deck is the teen play area. The bow area on the pool deck is where the solarium is. Great forward views but through glass. The bridge wings are outdoors but small and popular so crowded any time there is something to see. One deck up on the jogging track the track goes through a deep channel with steel walls in the forward area so there is no view forward or not much of one. A tripod on an outer deck is not going to work well in Alaska. I'm a bit of a photographer myself so I have some concept. Anywhere with something to see the railings will be packed. People will be two or three deep. Consuming a lot of deck space with a tripod isn't going to work well. I shoot handheld using optical steady lens to assist. A monopod is doable more so over a tripod, at least at the popular places that everyone wants to see.
  17. There is a live blog at the site we can't mention here where one of the blogs mods showed the brand store. R C Blog com in the live blog section.
  18. I am a big fan of the CK filet. Since I was Star class I opted for Chops on the CK filet night. I should have gone to CK. I love what they did with the AMP except for the cabins and suites. I have sailed OA a number of times since the AMP. I'd sail her again in a minute for the right price. Alas cruise rates have gone sky high while service and food has declined over the same time.
  19. I was recently in Port Stanley with another cruise line. We used the ship zodiacs to ride into town. Stanley is known for its winds. Wind makes waves. It was the wettest zodiac ride of our cruise. It was so splashy from the waves that one guest on my zodiac had his automatic life jacket inflate because it got so wet it thought it was in the water. We anchored just outside the harbor despite being in a much smaller ship than yours so we had the long ride to the town dock. The channel into the harbor is narrow and with any sort of a cross wind it was too much for even our little 17.4k GT vessel so we stayed out of the harbor. Swell and waves complicates loading tenders (and zodiacs). It slows the process down. It's a frequently missed port due to wind. How was the weather during your visit?
  20. I was in 526 just aft of the forward staircase. I generally liked deck 5. Having the staircase close by was great and I don't recall any noise from hall traffic. I'd stay in the same area again.
  21. If you’re talking about missing the glacier due to ice in the channel there is no way to predict that. It is largely influenced by things like temperature and the amount of sunshine beating down on the glacier over the weeks before a visit which can increase glacial calving. Missed calls at Dawes glacier occur all the time all season long. No month is safe.
  22. Food taste is personal, but in my opinion, it has generally declined for the Royal fleet over the past 18 months. If you search the main channel, you’ll find several threads discussing food quality.
  23. Public spaces were updated but not the decor. The elevator lobby for example has never been updated. Suites and cabins were not updated. New venues were added, the pool deck modernized, but many spaces remain the same.
  24. Oz became public domain a little while ago. I think that means millions saved in licensing fees.
