We are sailing on Viking Jupiter next May 19 from Stockholm to Bergen. We have 2-day "Must See" St. Petersburg tour booked with Alla. See roll call and join our tour if you like.

That's correct and well documented in the insurance Terms and Conditions. Unfortunately I had to cancel similarly for personal reasons and had purchased the coverage from Viking. I knew that was a sunk cost when I purchased but believed the only way I would cancel would be for a covered event. $1600 poof. Live and learn, now I purchase coverage only at the time of final payment.

if I'm not mistaken, you can purchase transfer from ship to airport from Viking independently even if you air not use Viking air. That's my understanding as I have similar situation. $49pp is what I was quoted.

We are booked with Alla Tours for our Viking 2 day stay in STP next May. Highly recommended and easy to do business with.

It certainly matters when you're sailing. From Barcelona to Corfu all the action is on the port side. After that the starboard. Would suggest port on this cruise.

Just returned from the Mariner in Alaska in May. All the excursion meeting points were in close proximity to the end of dock ramps. Should be no problem for your neighbor.

Good evening all. OP here for final update. Regent offered a satisfactory solution to the forever to be known as the “Fairmont Fiasco”. Though I will never cross the threshold of one of their properties again. The Regent onboard staff,as well as I’m sure corporate, took the matter very seriously and their concern showed in their communications. The Mariner is beautiful, officers and staff welcoming and gracious. We arrive in Sitka tomorrow for our first port in AK. Looking forward to our remaining 7 days ahead. Thanks to all that offered kind words.

Thanks for the thoughts Ken. I assure you that the issue is in the rear view and all is first class and full speed ahead.

OP here. Time to jump back in after lurking watching the rest of you mix it up. For those of you who speak of some equivalency between properties, let’s just say we will agree to disagree. The Stanford Court is unacceptable alternative and I will be the final judge of that. Regent did not have a representative on-site only contractors that were sympathetic but unable to assist. The onboard staff contacted us within a day and we await further explanation and comment. As for the cruise it is going very well and Mariner is a beautiful ship, as we expected. The events at the Fairmont are and will be a blemish. Hopefully a small one in the bigger scheme of things. Back to your schirmishes.

Newbie to Regent having most cruises on Silversea. Less than disappointing start and haven’t even boarded. Arrived SFO met by very nice greeters, collected luggage then waited an hour for SUV to pick us up. OK no big deal we are on vacation. Arrive at Fairmont Hotel to check in. Strange look from desk clerk. In a few front desk manager arrives to advise that in spite of the fact that you and many other Regent cruisers paid to stay at luxury hotel, not going to happen. You lucky people are going to stay down the block at the Stanford Court, a 2* hotel on its best day, a dump any other. But don’t worry says the manager, I will hopefully find someone to help schlep your luggage. REALLY??? Protests to hotel staff and to Regent’s contracted shore staff to no avail. Will make my total disappointment known on ship and to corporate. Very poor early execution.

Hilton Nordica is where our pre next year is booked

We stayed at the Marriott for 2 nights following our cruise in 2016. It is a wonderful hotel. Right on the HOHO bus line if you’re into that as we are. Short taxi ride away.
-
Riviera Marriott de Monaco lovely hotel very conveniently located. Also they will arrange for car and driver to pick you up at airport in Nice. We stayed there prior to last cruise out of Monte Carlo.
-
Mariner at sea off the coast of Spain, heading to Barcelona for TA. Looking forward to boarding her in San Francisco in 4 weeks.

The press are a bunch on knuckleheads looking for attention.

We are sailing on Viking Sun on May 25th in the opposite direction, Bergen to Stockholm with Iceland pre-cruise.
-
In May as well. We originally booked the Oslo pre-extension with the train to Bergen. Sounds like a great trip. But Iceland is intriguing. With all the Baltic capitals we will stop in we figured we could miss Oslo and do Iceland instead.
-
OP, suggest you read the detailed description of the Pre and Post cruise extensions. The ones I have booked clearly state "includes all transfers" and in the description of each days activities says you will be met and transferred upon arrival for the Pre and transferred to the airport on final day of the Post. You should be all good.
-
Thanks all. We have booked the Iceland pre-cruise extension. So looking forward to this cruise next year. Luckily have one booked for this year as well --- Alaska on Regent. Life is good.
-
Thanks all for the input so far. Has anyone actually done the Viking pre-cruise excursion to Iceland? Is the tour itself of high quality? Or just a sightseeing bus ride? Thanks again.
-
Booked on VH in 2019. Looking to compare 3 night Iceland pre-cruise to 2 night Oslo and train to Bergen. Anybody have comparisons or comments that might justify significant upcharge for Iceland? Thanks in advance.

Wife and I already booked on one of the Alaska voyages in Concierge Suite, Cat D. When I saw the promo I questioned how impacts my reservation. Originally told that was for new reservations only. My TA, who books lots of Regent and other luxury lines, pushed the issue. Thankfully RSSC did the right thing and gave us nice amount of OBC. Was about to be a contentious issue. All good ultimately. Thanks Regent for making the correct decision.

We're doing Regent for first time to Alaska in May. We chose longer voyage that starts in San Fran and ends in Vancouver so no long flight to Alaska. Main reason to choosing May is not about kids, although that would be a bother, but the ports will be less crowded in the shoulder season. I have been told that when you get 3, 4 or 5 ships in port on same day can be extremely crowded. Hoping for good weather a less crowds.

Florence far superior to Pisa, but tour will likely spend 1 hour in Pisa. Just so you can say been there done that. Lucca is and exceptional alternative as well, beautiful Tuscan town to wander about.
Viking Homelands - Bergen to Stockholm or Stockholm to Bergen
in Viking Ocean

We are booked next year on Viking Jupiter Bergen to Stockholm. Travel from Bergen is more difficult particularly on return to US if at end of cruise. So we will do 4 days in Paris before flying to BGO and hopping on cruise. Travel back to US from Stockholm (ARN) is much easier. In either case I would expect a wonderful cruise.
