From a(ny) business point of view, this makes absolute sense. At the time you could have requested a cash refund, you chose the 125% and had a discount applied. How could you possibly then expect a cash refund from the now cancelled September cruise, paid by fcc?

I"m not sure that the expectation is unreasonable. But I do think OP is out of luck. The way they put the time limits on applying for a refund, it's not too late to get a refund for the april cruise. And the September cruise is simply being refunded to the same method of payment. I do think it's a poor business practice. At this point I think Norwegian is trying to hang onto every dollar they can get in the short term rather than trying to hang onto customers for the long term.

OP, you could try a charge back and see how far you get with that. You booked a cruise and they failed to provide the service.

This is our next stop. We're going to be putting in a charge back claim with our cc. Apparently all calls are recorded with ncl too, the agent confirmed that we would get a cash refund.

Going by numerous posts online, ncl have lost many loyal customers, this will be detrimental to them in the long run. We certainly won't be cruising with them again.

  2. When we re-booked we asked and confirmed twice that the cash would be refunded if the next one was cancelled, she told us yes. I dont expect to be lied to! I'm obviously going to believe what I'm told. To have my original form of cash is not costing them more money its just my original form of payment. We would never of booked knowing that we would be stuck as a fcc, not only that I have a time limit to spend it and the next 2 years I'm not going to be able to take a cruise.

  3. Anyone having the same problem.

We were on an original sailing in April which was cancelled and paid via a credit card, then we re-booked with the fcc and discount to a cruise in Sept on thejewel which has now been cancelled. Called ncl for a refund as we're not going to rebook due to the inflation of prices and they've told us we can only have it as cruise credit as that's what we paid with for this cruise! When we rebooked we were assured if this cruise was cancelled we'd get a cash refund we never would of booked otherwise.

    Absolutely furious at this stage.

How do you visit for a day and get a covid test done? Unless its instant results????

That is the way they are going to fill their hotels to get the economy running!!!!

If you are entering on a ship and debarking you have to have it done before you leave the previous port and then stay for 2 days in isolation of course till the swab is clear.

If you are flying in to join a ship you have to arrive 3 days before boarding and have the swab on arrival with 2 days in isolation till the result comes through.

And, of course, because it is due to Coronavirus, which is still in pandemic mode, the insurance companies will not reimburse for.

They learned that from New Zealand!!  We have allowed in 100+ people to prepare for the America's Cup and another 100+ to work on an Avatar film and they are all in hotel based isolation for 14 days which they are paying for!!!

Where did you get that information? Only info I've seen is on the tahiti website which states you have to have a test before arrival in tahiti and a max of 72 hours before arrival.

@penlanspice have you seen these sailings are back on the UK site?

I did notice a few days ago, we spoke to our ncl cc and she believes these cruises are not going to be going, makes complete sense as the ship is not going to be in Australia so cant see why they would reposition it to tahiti for just a few cruises, maybe she's wrong.

We have decided after ncl reduced the discount to 10 percent rather than the 20 percent off we originally had that we're going to take a refund. The amount they've increased prices far outweighs the 125 credit plus the 10 percent.

  6. The offer would of been in the email, our cancelled cruise in May we had the 125 percent plus the additional 20 percent off a new booking, for our cruise that was cancelled last week the email stated 125 cruise credit and 10 percent off a new booking, we spoke with our cruise consultant and told her we weren't happy as we had the 20 percent off the current cruise and she said that offer had finished and we couldn't have it. Give them a ring or email and ask for the discount. The discounts will come off online when you get to the payment page.

  7. We wanted to rebook this cruise for April as ours was just cancelled for September, spoke with our cc and she said that all sailings on the jewel have been pulled until May.

We're in the UK and everything up until May on the jewel has gone from the website, our consultant is based in the USA though and she gave us this information.

We're due to sail Hawaii to Vancouver on the Jewel 29th April 2021 this sailing has disappeared from the UK website 😞

    Anyone else on this cruise?

All sailings until may have disappeared from the uk site. When I spoke with my ncl agent a few days ago she said they've pulled all the sailings for a year. We wanted to rebook on the april Tahiti to hawaii but she said they are cancelled.

Oh no.... I am scheduled on a Hawaii/Tahiti cruise in April 2021.  Has Tahiti banned cruise ships next year?

Tahiti hasn't announced anything about cruise ships only that they will reopen to international visitors in july.

I'm guessing it's because the australia season is cancelled so the ship wont be coming from Australia to reposition back. 🤷‍♂️

Well i am at the beach in nc and it was packed. Most ppl not wearing masks. Resturants open fully.   I dont see why they can't get a few small ships out of the texas and florida ports in august.   This photo is recent from an england beach.

I can guarantee you that was not taken here this year, there was people at the beach back in may but with social distancing certainly nothing like that.

The dates are inclusive - the Feb 27 Sydney-Tahiti is also cancelled (we were booked on it, and got the notice).

So there's a three week gap from "Feb 21 return to service" until the next cruise, currently Mar 14th, Tahiti to Honolulu, which is not (yet) cancelled.  Maybe a 14 day crew quarantine as well as reposition.  But it's all just wishful thinking and maybes at this stage.

    Rob

Looks like all jewel dates are now cancelled until May, we were hoping to rebook for next year our Hawaii to Tahiti that has just been cancelled and they've also been removed, nothing showing now until May.

(edit - just noticed they are gone from our UK site but still showing on American TA site)

  12.

We rebooked this cruise when our April sailing was cancelled, we had a 25 percent future cruise credit and 20 percent off a future book and now looks like they are just offering 10 percent cruise credit. We most definitely wont be rebooking with just that 10 percent and will be taking our money back.

After the way they put their prices up during the first wave of cancellations I swore then we wouldnt sail with ncl again and now they've made my mind up.

  13. What a difference! Thanks for your reply, confirms what I was thinking when I’ve seen some American commenters, I wonder why such a drastic difference?!

You can even book on the ncl USA website just use a vpn blocker so you can access the site.

Only extra you get on the UK site is gratuities and I think internet.

I got 250 mins included with my booking, as well as the $50 per port credit and x amount of phone calls, plus 50 dollars cabin credit.

  14. We booked out cruise about 2 months ago on the dawn in an inside cabin and got our allocation the following day, we put in a bid to upgrade about a month ago and it came through today, I wasn't expecting to hear anything yet as we're not sailing until November.

We're on the dawn from Boston on the 9th Nov for 9 nights. We had an inside IF and bid $150pp for a balcony which was in the poor zone, we've now got a BA cabin in a great mid ship location on deck 9.

It's currently around $700 difference in the price of an inside to a balcony, so I'm more that happy with the price.

Looks like the insides must b pretty much sold out so that's why upgrades are being done now to free up cheaper cabins.

  15. We've always wanted to take a cruise through Alaska but the dates are usually hard for us to fit in, next year we can holiday in September so thought this was our chance to go.

We obviously want to see glaciers, snow etc, we have no plans as of yet so would choose a cruise line based on the itinerary.

How much snow and glaciers would there be in September? do some places have more than others?

Not sure if we should forget it and leave it until we can go in a May time.

    Anyone have any experience?

    Thanks

  16. On our last celebrity cruise it was a complete mix or tux and non tux, no one looked out of place. For us this change was good as we've never enjoyed getting dressed up (Think only our first cruise we dressed) we usually opt for the Buffett on formal night but our last cruise we didn't feel out of place and dh wore trousers and a shirt and I wore a dress.

Most definitely can wear anything to the theatre, quite often dh would go put shorts on in the evening.
