  1. Bill, as Pingpong mentioned, many times you can find reasonable BC/FC seats.  I am over 6’ tall, over 60 now & need comfort!  I can generally find decently priced BC tickets.  My husband & I just can’t fly coach anymore. I recently flew RT Atlanta to NYC for only $139 extra for FC.  It just takes a little extra time to research prices.

  2. I have learned a considerable amount on this forum from all of you wonderful, kind  seasoned Regent cruisers! We did not receive a rebate on our first Regent cruise, for which we were in a “named” suite.  (Only mentioning this suite because we paid a good amount for the cruise.). Sorry to ask this, but how DO I find the great TA many of you seem to have?

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this!  My DH and I have an expensive sleep number bed, which is NOT as comfortable as the bed we slept in on our ONE Regent cruise.  The cost for shipping a king size mattress is only about $300 2nd day air.  Of course we’ll have to try more nights-at-sea before we buy, but these mattresses are reasonably priced, in my opinion.

  4. Thank you, machotspur! I am with you; we are a small minority.  Per Hambagahle, I believe you mean that as long as Regent is not changing the existing regular offerings, this plant-based menu should not interfere with regular diners that prefer eating “regular” food.  Vegan/ plant based foods do, in my opinion taste better, don’t involve the inhumane treatment of animals and are usually healthier!  However, everyone has their own opinions and preferences, which is what makes life interesting.  (My own DH thinks my eating preferences are strange!).  Again I applaud Regent for taking a step in the right direction.

  5. As a vegetarian I applaud Regent for moving in the right direction!  I respectfully disagree JMariner; this may be more than vegan junk food depending on the preparation.  Let’s support Regent in this incredibly positive move!   Perhaps more “carnivores” will delightfully realize plant-based diets are actually tasty along with being humane.

  6. The one quality that a cost comparison on a spreadsheet cannot account for, as Bill touched upon, is that certain “Je ne sais quoi”, that hard to describe, intangible, that really makes all the difference between other cruise lines and Regent.  We are 60 & 70 and realize now that space, two bathrooms (for us!) comfort and good service, etc., are more important than saving a few dollars.  We cannot afford to cruise very frequently, but we are saving for our next higher quality Regent cruise.  Quality over quantity for us.  Everyone has different priorities, and that is what makes life (and vacations) interesting!

  7. Thank you for the invaluable information and excellent explanation on air deviation, Jackie.  I also realize that while our TA said she was a Regent expert, we stayed in a “named” suite, did not receive a rebate nor much of OBC.  We also overpaid for Regent Business class.  I am much better prepared for our next Regent adventure.  Thank you! 😊

  8. The busses leave in the morning up until about noon, depending on the number of people to transfer to to port in Seward.  We stayed at the Hilton, and were assigned a bus time of 11:00 and arrived at about 1:00.  The train is also a beautiful way to travel to Seward.  We loved our cruise.  Have a wonderful time!

  9. Our Alaska cruise on the Mariner in May,  2019 had a lovely variety of all ages.  We are 60 and 70, and I’d say most people were in our age group, some younger, some a lot older. There were a handful of well behaved children on-board as well.  Those of us who could not do super active excursions chose appropriate excursions.  It was a fabulous cruise!
