UUNetBill you sound like you’d make any cruise fun! My DH’s occasional Kiss t-shirt might be okay, but I’m not thrilled with it. Good to know a Regent Cruise can have a bit of a casual vibe during the day! I won’t start packing yet...

We have recently retired from NY to Western North Carolina. Getting used to the slower paced, more casual lifestyle and enjoying life in the beautiful mountains. UUNetBill, sounds like we may grow accustomed to cruising, as you are! Our 10th Anniversary Cruise was on a huge mass market cruise, so we are looking forward to celebrating the 20th in proper style! I know attitude is a big factor in having a wonderful time anywhere. :)

Previously I was a bit concerned we wouldn’t “fit in”. I know it will be fine now with such lovely people and that I can relax and wear the jeans & sweaters. Before 6!

Thanks, Bellaggio Cruisers! Relieved to know DH can wear the dress shirts or polo shirts, and I can wear dress slacks, a skirt or dress in p.m. Getting used to living a more casual life! It is so nice to be more relaxed now and to have a lovely trip to Alaska to anticipate!

Thank you! Such lovely people on the CC forum! This will be the 7 night May 23 Alaska cruise; I’m relieved to wear the jeans during the day, which as you mentioned Travelcat2 are rather bulky to pack, but the warmer clothes are required for that climate. And DH can get by with a sport jacket in evening , although that doesn’t sound at all necessary (but he is a suit guy transitioning to a more casual life.) We are in 50’s and 60’s; sounds like we will be younger than other guests, but that is fine!

Hello! Thank you for all the great info on the forum! We are new to Regent (one prior mass market cruise) and will be on big anniversary cruise on Mariner in May. Since early retirement I live in jeans. Does “casual” on Regent include jeans prior to 6:00 p.m.?

Thank you, Bellagio cruisers and jctdt! I have to get out and enjoy life and my upcoming cruise. If you can do it Bellagio, I can!!

Bellagio Cruisers, yes it does seem obvious that I should just buy additional batteries. I have foolishly resisted as the battery and charger is 3/4 the price of a new leg wrap. You have helped motivate me to just go ahead and buy additional batteries and chargers and be done with it and be prepared! Time to get out there and have a great cruise. Thank you!

Thanks to all of you for your great answers, insight and tips! You are truly a wonderful community! Because of a neurological issue, to control the pain I need to keep my lower legs warm with a an electrical heated lap blanket (works on business class flights with an outlet) or battery powered leg wraps. The USB port would not apply, unfortunately. I will continue to search new products to help me & eventually call Regent in early May.

As previously noted, my hubby & I are taking our first Regent cruise in May, 2018, Seward to Vancouver. Your prior suggestions have been extremely helpful! I have excursion questions; hope it is ok to post on this thread. I selected all excursions when the process was open 9/25. Two questions:
1. In Sitka, I chose the bus tour, however are the Russian Orthodox Church & Raptor center within walking distance or is it best to take the bus tour? I can walk about 1/4 to 1/2 mile at a time.
2. In Skagway I reserved the White Pass railway trip. Is it possible through Regent to reserve the Luxury Car (assuming I'd pay extra $). Due to a disability, I need access to electrical outlets on long per trips, such as the train. How might I determine if these are available? Thank you!!:)

I am originally from Ohio, lived in NY, now very new to NC. I really like my GT with Bombay Sapphire and just Schweppes. I guess I'll request the specific tonic water, however perhaps it is time to try the Fever Tree and upgrade to Monkey 47! Do I just make special requests to the Butler online prior to the cruise? First time on Regent next spring to Alaska, so everything is new to me. Learning much from all of your kind input!

Thank you, UUNetBill and Travelcat!! I appreciate your input! As I think of more specific questions relative to the excursions I will ask those as well!

With respect to Regent, sure hope I am in the correct thread! Thank you for everyone's suggestions! I found a few excellent questions from another member (I forget who to credit!) pertaining to another Regent cruise ship (Explorer) that I would like to pose about Mariner. Additionally, hubby and I are spending a few days in Anchorage pre-cruise and Vancouver post-cruise.
We are booked for an Alaskan cruise on Mariner in May 2018 to celebrate a big anniversary, I would like to maximize our experience on board:
1) Best underutilized areas of the ship.
2) What other things did you learn on your Mariner or Alaska cruise that you wish you had know earlier?
3) Any other best advice for a Regent newbie?:)

I have the same questions that Bill has but can tell you that we have been in a Mariner suite and will sail in one again in November. The thing I like best about the Mariner suite is the wall of windows. It is bright and airy and, of course, has the extra half bath which is great.
We will also be sailing on the Mariner in Alaska (different itinerary) at the end of next month - in a PH suite which is lovely but we miss the half bath. This will be our fourth Alaska cruise - three on Regent and one on Silversea.
When will you be sailing?
Hello! Thank you for your feedback; glad to hear you like the Mariner and that you enjoy Regent. We've never been to Alaska, so are open to any suggestions that are not too adventurous. Cannot zip line anymore! What are your favorite sites or things to do?
-
Thank you, UUNET Bill, for such a fast and lovely response! I need reassurance that I've done the right thing ($$$$) by booking the Mariner suite on Regent; that it will be superior to the nicest suite on Holland! Secondly, I'm curious about the pre and post cruise hotels. We booked several pre trip in Anchorage and several in Vancouver. We are, unfortunately, not too active anymore. I need to know about slower paced excursions (we found like walking!) and whether we can view much of Alaska's beauty and glaciers from the balcony of a port side suite. Going in May, 2018, southbound, for our big anniversary trip!! Thank you for any info you can provide!!:)

Hello! I am new to this forum. I just booked a very special cruise for my husband and me to Alaska on Regent Seven Seas Mariner, in the Mariner suite. Does anyone have any experience on this cruise from Seward to Vancouver, the ship or the suite? Thank you very much for any input!

How in the world could you possibly just take carry-ons?! I am impressed but do not think I could do that for other than a weekend trip.
