  1. RAW is for a tweaker, me.  I use cameras with dual data cards and I set one to RAW and the other to JPG.  I normally just format over the JPG's but if I need a fast image to send it can be used.  I do save what I want to keep in RAW format.  When I print it's always from RAW.  I use Adobe CS6 and DxO OpticsPro 11 to process the RAW files.

Not to be a wiseguy I had to take a shot at fixing that dog photo.

I copied the jpg file from the board and used CS6.

we had a cabana for a couple of days (afternoon’s) on the crossing.  We really enjoyed it.  Furniture was comfortable, but as you say, different than the other Royal-class ships.  The sofa is definitely a one person lounger.  Service was very good.  Overall, space is much more modern, as you can see on the photos.

Thanks for the info.  How was the wind when the ship was underway.  It looks somewhat protected.  The outside loungers are somewhat in the shade?

I see from some photo's that there is a round sofa with a table up front, is that a common area for use by everyone.

The cabana's on the Regal had a wind problem when the ship was underway IMHO.  It also had a nice common area to get a different view.

  3. Nice photo spread showing the ship.

To anyone that has tried a sanctuary cabana, are those chairs and couches comfortable?  The old decor had a "L" shaped sofa so both the wife and I could be stretched out comfortably.  I'm not seeing being that comfortable on that sofa.

    Thanks

  4. A couple times a year recently they've had $1 deposit to book.  I've book several at that time and then work the system to get a better deal later.  Every $1 deposit I've done is a cruise we went on.  I hate to tie up money for years before I need to.  It's really best to use the FCC to maximize free OBC.

...if you already own a good DLSR (or two), use them. To me, not traveling with my "good" cameras is like buying formal wear but hitting the red carpet in t-shirt and shorts because it's more comfortable and you might spill something on your "good" clothes.

LOL truth be told. I normally take 2 bodies with an assortment of lenses to AK.  I evaluate what I'm doing each day and carry the minimum amount in my bag/backpack.  My iphone7 works perfect for food/menu/documents and a fast internet post.

For many excursions in AK shooting wildlife you can never have enough lens power.  That 18-400 might be worth checking out.

I never thought I'd be using a iphone camera but for many things it works best and it's always with me.

Have fun in AK next year.  I have to wait till 2021 as we have other cruises planned in 2020.

  6. 1970 and I was 18 and with my parents on a cruise.  Trust me I could ditch them and party all night.  Sneaking back about 5am most nights I was shocked no one said anything.  Yes I found a girl couple years older to hang with and had a blast.

That's what you have to worry about.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  7. M107 and M108 has the largest insane size balcony anywhere.  You have private access to the roof of the bridge.

    m107.jpg

It has two wooden loungers two chairs and a table.  In the photo they are stored under the angle.

L107 and L108 has a large wrap around balcony with loungers, chairs and table.

I prefer L107 or L108 because the balcony it better wind protected, totally private and has a large overhang on the side that

allows use in light rain.  The rooms themselves are set up more like a suite with two rooms.  Rooms are larger than standard mini's.

Wind can be iffy; however, when the winds from the rear it gets nice sitting on the balcony.

The bad news is these cabins are sell early.

    Have a good cruise,

  8. The only thing I see you need is a newer graphics card.  If you get the 2080 today it could still be used with a newer system a couple of years from now.  The m2 are also dropping in price and 1-2TB are affordable and could also be used with a new MB later.

Every year you wait for a new MB and processor the better it will get.  I'm looking for the next gen MB and processor before a major upgrade.  FYI I  used AMD stuff for years and lived with minor issues that would crop up from time to time.  After I stepped up to the pump and went with Intel things smooth out.  I've been tempted by new offering from AMD but will wait for Intel stuff next year.

  9. Dave,

    Go i7-9700 w/32gb  1TB m2's and a Nvidia 2080.  Add a new top of the line 4K touchscreen monitor.

4 years ago I got an Asus workstation Z-97 deluxe w/ i7-4790K  32gb DDR3-2400 took out my original 250gbSSD and replaced it with a 1TB m2 Samsung 9700.  I've also upgraded the graphics 18months ago to the Nvidia 1080.  This system still screams through my photoshop stuff.  I do huge panos 20+ images from a D810 never an issue.  I use cheap 3&4tb HD for archiving and storage of images.

My 4yo old system still has life and a couple more years of use.

    Got to run...

  10. We use to go to the Elite lounge most nights.   We always preferred it in  Skywalkers  but have gone to Club 6.  In the last couple of years we rarely go.  The new drinks were not to our liking and IMHO the snacks were not that appealing/gone down hill.    On the bright side several other places are better so we hang out there.

  11. WE were in Lido 108 which is a front facing corner mini-suite.

It is exactly like a video of the Royal Princess L108 that's on youtube.  It's different than the M108 below in that the closets are at the entrance and not in the bedroom.  It seems slightly bigger than M108.  L108 has a longer desk area.  If I had my choice I'd prefer L108 to M108.

The balcony area has a completely covered area and a partially covered area, all very private.

L108, M108, L107, M108 are all great mini-suites, with huge balconies and normally the lowest cost Club Class cabin you can get.
