  1. Jeannie Gunn’s We of the Never Never was mandatory reading in the high school curriculum in my school years.
  2. The streets in Canberra’s suburb of Hawker are named after NT cattle stations (vast ranches, Lyle). Our friends live in Elsey St, just around the corner from Mattaranka Street.
  3. Oops: I meant to say we are sixteen hours ahead of Miami, and I count eight hours agead and call it yesterday. US west coast is fourteen hours ahead.
  4. I know! We have close family (cousins) in northern Italy, and we always have to do a quick mental calculation before ringing or texting. America with different time zones is even more difficult. We also have several time zones, and some states do summer time, and some don’t. It’s hard to get your head around Russia with nine time zones. For Miami, I find it easier to count ten hours ahead and call it yesterday 🤷🏻‍♀️ my daughter’s SIL is a senior Qantas staff member.
  5. We are fourteen hours ahead of Miami time, so I was able to log in to make reservations during a leisurely afternoon tea.
  6. Two long, thin (fingers) of shortbread joined together. The prelude to the tasting is snapping the fingers apart.
  7. Double ditto, and I simply love Chocolate Wheatens. Richer chocolate, balanced by the slightly salty crispiness of the biscuit itself.
  8. This is very exciting news. I do wish we had a visual image. Cue Delusions of Grandeur Naysayers😉
  9. Yes, I'm certainly aware the topic is Vista. We are actually on Deck 11; my oversight. Hopefully, there will be no noise intrustion on Deck 11 either.
  10. Good move for him. It will be strange to see him in that stable, though.
  11. Pleased to hear that, thank you. We are in a PH1 on Deck 12 in April.
  12. When we were newlyweds and just moved into our first Canberra home, our next door neighbour was Scottish. I had no idea of my substantial Scottish heritage at that stage, only a vague knowledge that my great grandparents had arrived here from the Highlands in the mid 1800s. We were out to dinner years later with one of Mario’s business associates. His accent was so broad, and when I admired the different rolls of his speech, he said I’d never guess his home town. He was astonished when i replied, “Broughty Ferry”. His brogue was identical to our neighbour’s. I can pick the subtle differences in Scottish speech, and I have no idea how. Genetic memory?🤷🏻‍♀️
  13. Is it The Lion’s Den just out of Cooktown?
  14. Thank you, Julie: absorbing, detailed episodes. We loved Cunard, and agree not everything, every day, is perfect, but our experience was close to it. We loved the Grills Lounge, and if we weren’t at presentation lectures or strolling around, spent sea days reading, doing crosswords and chatting with lovely people in the Lounge. Our Q3 penthouse had a spacious walk-in shower. We’ve both had knee replacements, so that worked well for us.
  15. Tea Gully Pub, Tea Trea Gully, SA?
  16. Another marvellous review, Julie. Thank you.
  17. Yes. I agree with those observations as well.
