  1. Have 1030 port arrival tomorrow in miami but i flubbed up. Plane lands 945am FLL. Ack. We always arrive day before, get hotel and embark about noon but this saved us about 500 on airfare for 2.
  2. Somewhat related... Will be on ship on 7/4...i wonder if Independence Day will be the Dive In film that night.
  3. Watched Conquest dock in Nassau today of port youtube channel. Ready to embark tomorrow! Got the premium wifi in case we get lots of rain. Mainly to download podcasts.
  4. And its a Cat 3 Hurricane. I love Cancun but Jun 30 is unlucky for us there and it looks like Beryl will hit it next week after passing the Lesser Antilles and Jamaica.
  5. I like it frosty my wife warmer. We have sailed a couple handful of CCL ships she almost always gets a 2nd blankie. AC usually works well. Now the chillers (fridge) are a different story. 😀
  6. Well, thats unfortunate. I assume that just occured last sailimg. Fine the predecessors!
  7. Good question. I know a podcast with cruise and radio in the title states there is "good, better and best trip insurance". We would get it post covid but our TA got much less expensive option than CCL. That said, hard to put a price on peace of mind and protection. Good luck!!!
  8. Anyone have tips on eating somewhat healthy on Carnival? Are buffet dishes made from scratch? I think im about to turn a corner on mah diet. Growing older but not up was a lifestyle for decades but....gonna try to eat more whole foods moving forward. Fruits, veggies and stuff without preservatives and chemicals. That elimates foo foo drinks with soda/sugar added. Ill stick with sipping bourbon. Mezcal. Beer. And maybe ill finally embrace wine.
  9. 3 days til sailaway and it looks like there is a tropical depression in the atlantic ocean that has 80% chance to form into tropical storm/hurricane. the spaghetti models tend to make it look like storm will dive below Cuba and head to the Mexican Riviera region. whew. (we had a tropical storm on our Mexican wedding and a hurricane there on our 10 yr anniversary. which is in two days. ha!)
  10. Booked a $15pp van shuttle from FLL to Port Miami. Looking forward to reporting back how this works out. Phenomenal bargain if there is no hair on this booking. Lyft was $100ish. Carnival was about $40pp and we would have to wait until noon to depart. We land 945am.
  11. Just bought 12 pack water to be delivered to room. $17.50 after fees.
  12. Interesting to see so many mushroom recommendations. Lightheartedly i must admit mushrooms are one thing my wife and I agree on - avoid at all costs!
  13. i know its all a matter of preference but i wonder what folks prefer at the steakhouse. best sides? best cut of steak? etc. (i think we're going for the first time next month. the Mrs is a filet person. although i enjoy a ribeye i must admit i prefer porterhouse, if available) thanks everyone and Fins Up!!!
  14. we have been sailing for many years and dont recall ever seeing an upgrade offer from Carnival.
  15. i love this size ship, 2900 pax. just checked in and selected the 10am boarding for the 2nd half of the B2B...by far our earliest boarding ever.
  16. BTB july 1 cruise. (4 nt interior, 3 nt OV) I was looking to kill time this am and read up on the Conquest. I was surprised to see the most recent thread was from Dec 2023. Soooo, im starting a thread albeit a tad early. We have sailed Conquest 1x and i have fond memories. There will be a bourbon hunt for best pour available onboard ship. Gonna hit sports trivia once or twice. I will defer from playing for ship on a stick if i have previously heard the questions. Will tally the best buffet item of each sailing. Odds on favorite is a lunch dessert. Will also tally # of jimmy buffett songs i hear on PA or live that week. We have a mess of OBC and are strongly considering the steakhouse, which we have never done on CCL. Loved the one on NCL, disliked the one on MSC. And What To Do In Nassau 2x in a week. (We just spent six nights there in March for a work trip) i love Nassau but i know thats not a widespread opinion. Best and Worst Slot Machines of the week.
  17. I have hired a private ride and done the $25 option. Both were great. $25pp in full size bus was a bargain. Go Port, i think, was merchant. I would select the Carnival option only if flight lands after noon day of cruise. Boat will wait for transport delays for CCL bookings.
  18. We sailed her last Dec. Party of six. Everyone had a great time. Its a middle aged ship and if you look hard there will be some wear and tear somewhere. Most public spaces are immaculate. All 3 of our cabins didnt show wear and tear.
  19. i am not a fan of the miami airport either. but.....it almost makes up for it by selling real cuban coffee
  20. I had opposite experience of Checkers in italianrestaurant, we thought it was fantastic. MDR strong. Lunch buffet dessert game strong. Dinner buffet passable. Id book Magic again in an instant.
  21. we have had varying degrees of success getting DOU at the casino. recently on the Venezia it was challenging to find a machine empty. that was a "difficult" cruise to get DOU. Almost every other ship has been easy to get DOU. They usually know our names by end of sailaway night. (we aren't THAT big of gamblers but i'll lose some funds if i'm fed free drinks!)
  22. Who has a rather unique or even odd suggestion for Carnival that might work? For example, i was fortunate enough to see 56 jimmy buffett concert. Before most (if not all) the last song played over the PA before band took the stage was " Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter. Id love to see that concept for sailaway day. Maybe with "Come Sail Away" by Styx. I know its a dance party but id love one rocker for da oldies! Im sure that a big hit at the piano bar as i recall that ditty being player at dueling piano bars back in the early 90s. Once upon a time im sure sushi and teppanyaki at sea was an obscure concept. Or trivia games. Or paying $20/day for internet!
