  1. Wondering if anyone can offer their opinion on booking a massage through the Vitality Spa on Oasis? Or, have you ever booked a day-pass for their spa? Would love to see any pictures if someone has them. Open to ALL opinions. We don't typically spend a lot of money on spa services, but are thinking it may be worth it on embarkation day to really kick off our kid-free week for our anniversary. But I would like the area to be inviting enough that I want to spend more than my treatment time there, if that makes sense?

Again, open to all opinions and reviews on treatments, the facility, anything! I couldn't find much doing a search in the forum.

    Thank you!!!

  2. No, as the rules state. But is rarely enforced.

Please do your baggage handlers a favor and DO NOT just slap a tag on a cumbersome case of bottled water. They don't want to handle that thing anymore than you want to drag it around on the ship as a carry on. And lately, more and more, they are refusing to accept it anyway.

I very much dislike the bottled water brands on the ship, and will simply toss a dozen bottles of my favorite Dasani

in a separate cloth duffel bag. I attach a luggage tag on the handle of that, then later will fold it and place inside luggage on disembarkation. Has been delivered to my cabin every time. If it gets sent to the "naughty room"...I will wait and claim it later when the lines go down since it does not contain my needed clothing, etc.

I like this idea! It's worth the "try" since it's just water, as long as I don't need anything else in that bag. Do you think we have a better chance carrying it on or checking it with our luggage?

  3. Thank you! I am bookmarking this! We going on Oasis in October - same itinerary - and this has been so thorough and helpful!!

Question for anyone: I noticed the same wine (Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc) was a different price in several pix. Sometimes it was $13, another time it was $17. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Is one bar a more premium experience, perhaps? Thanks!!

  4. I'd like to have the mini bar empty. No need for it, IMO and I'd rather just avoid the question of any charges. Plus, may need to use the fridge. Has anyone asked to have it emptied? Will they do that? Should we call ahead and ask or should we just ask our attendant when we get there?

    Thanks!

(Not sure if it makes a difference, but we're sailing Oasis in October.)

  5. Hi! Just got back from the Disney Dream and Disney has upgraded their onboard app (free) amazingly in the past two years since we last sailed. It was great to have a texting feature available this time so hubby and I could communicate when we split up to entertain the kids.

In October we are sailing on Oasis with our friends (and NO KIDS - YAY!) and just wondered if RC has an app for Oasis or maybe a Wave Phone type device?

And yes, I've researched the threads so I assume there will be "just communicate with each other" comments. But really, we're two adult couples who have different agendas and are used to texting today, and also used to Disney, so this is just a "has anyone heard of any updates because I've never been on RC before" question. :-) We'll have our phones on us b/c of the ability to take pictures most likely.

    Thank you!!!

  6. Just for funsies... going back to the (angry, self-righteous) responses regarding the Grand Suite guest ordering food for her daughter... How would this be any different than me inviting my friends into my normal stateroom and ordering dinner for all four of us but only paying the $7.95 once?

Happy to stir the pot once again, but unless someone has seen a rule about ordering food only for the people in your stateroom and then Royal enforcing it by sitting there and watching you eat it, I think we can all just Elsa that and "let it go." Let the poor sweet mom enjoy spoiling her daughter. Whatevs! :-)

As for corporations striving for a perfect 10 and anything else is a failure - YUP! I have been saying this for years. We've become a pass-or-fail society and it's actually really hurting morale unless you know how to make it better. Flogging your employees to death until they get "perfect scores" won't get you happy employees... encouragement, positive reinforcement, and leading by example, are all a start...

  7. Not sure when this was' date=' but they now allow untrained kids in the OC --kids in diapers. The staff cannot change them; they use the wave phone to call a parent when attention is needed. The difficult time is the "in training" process--as you noted, when they can handle the need to go an how to go, but not necessarily all the clothing and washing up.[/quote']

Oh that IS new! Our last Dream sailing was 2014.

  8. While the child was "lost" (if it's the one I'm thinking of), he was located still in the clubs. They cannot just walk out of Oceaneer's.

That story did make me choke up because I can imagine how it felt, but I have no concerns whatsoever about dropping my kids off with them. My older daughter always had an amazing time and the security in there is crazy good. In the time between her 3rd and 4th birthdays they actually implemented magic bands and could tell me exactly which room she was enjoying when we picked her up. That was crazy amazing to me and gave me even more confidence that they knew EXACTLY where she was.

  9. My daughter turned 3 on the ship, so they said she could go wherever she was most comfortable. We went in during open house and she loved it, but it was incredibly stimulating and a bit overwhelming for her on her own. The other catch is that they have to be able to use the restroom 100% independently. It's not just about being potty-trained, which she was, but they have to be able to go into the restroom, move the step stool, do their thing, pull up their pants, wash their hands, etc. - 100% by themselves as no one can assist them. This was the "seal the deal" moment when we realized she still needed to be in the nursery. As most parents know, potty training is an on-going process of reminders, checking in to see if they need to go, making sure hands are getting washed properly, etc.

The next year we went when she turned 4 and she LOVED the kids' club and never wanted us to pick her up! What a difference that year made!

  10. Our kids cruised from a young age and we took them as a pair from combined ages of 1 and 3. Never did we have trouble taking them to the many food outlet choices on the ships we've sailed. It might be that if you tried you'd be pleasantly surprised with how well kids are catered for.

We have and love the service they receive at dinner. But when we go out I always carry snacks with me and when we are at home they have snacks readily available. Sometimes room service afforded the luxury of a simple bite while still in our jammies. ;)

Again, just trying to paint a picture to answer a question above of how often one might use room service. I'm sure honeymooners would use it would be daily. With kids it definitely was daily. And when we sail in the fall for our anniversary (sans kids) it might be daily so that we could enjoy the food with a view of the ocean. While the food might be mediocre to some, to many a croissant is a croissant and a bagel is a bagel. Breakfast can be luxurious in a restaurant but also doesn't have to be complicated and could be enjoyed while donning a robe and staring at the horizon. It all depends on perspective. Is $8 really that much? No of course not. But it WAS free. So for some people it is another item you now need to budget and consider, so people talk it out. (Just stating a fact, not whining.)

    :)

  11. Just how many times a day did the avg cruiser use Room Service? Just doesn't seem like a lot of money for a typical 7 day cruise ???

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I'm sure honeymooners use it a lot. ;p

We used it a lot when traveling with our kids. It was an easy way to get them a snack while winding down for bed or a quick way to have breakfast available in the room while getting ready in the morning. It also provided an opportunity to have a meal mid-day during naptime without leaving the boat. One might say, "Can't you get them to the on-board food locations?" No, not two kids all the time when I am asking them to be way off their normal schedules and out of their normal environments. They're also younger (under 6).

  12. I was able to get an excellent Black & Tan under the $13 (I know everything says $12, but the Allure was $13) at the pub. We drank some very nice wines for under the limit also. Duck Horn and Rombauer to name a few.

It's not the price, but the availability for craft beers at some locations. I was able to get Becks at the pool bar and I would guess if you find it on ship at one location and ask a bartender to have it for you at another it would happen ($$$).

    Awesome! Thank you!!:D
