  1. I'm unable to read 89 pages of this discussion, but thought this would be a safe place to lament my woes about the charge. We are trying to create an "all inclusive" package for ourselves that we are paying over the course of these months so that our charges after our October sailing (Oasis) are minimal. I'm bummed because I considered room service an absolute delight and luxury (even if the food is just so-so) that we could partake in on a whim. Sometimes it's just the feeling of luxury it provided because we are not ones to order room service in a hotel where the charges rack up to closer to $50. (By comparison, $7.95 isn't the end of the world, obviously.)

I'm not sure if in the previous 89 pages this was mentioned, but I find it more shocking that they went from $0 to $7.95. That is a relatively steep jump especially when you add gratuity and round it up to $10. Maybe loyal cruisers wouldn't have been as upset if they had done a $3.00 charge for a couple of years. I also wonder if it affected the room service hosts -- I'm assuming they're not getting as much business as they used to, so fewer tips, which is a bummer for them.

Okay, that was my two cents!

  2. If you want to not think about getting fresh squeezed oj, cocktails, soda, specialty coffee and bottles of water then go for it. Its easy to get your moneys worth without becoming a drunk all week cruiser.

I ended up getting the alcohol and internet package for our cruise. I am looking forward to not having to think about what I order and how big my bill is getting.

This is what I'm thinking of doing!

For experienced cruisers, I know there is a limit to the dollar value of the drinks per day ($12, right?). Hubby and I drink craft beers, wines (low to mid range supermarket prices), and a variety of cocktails. We don't drink bud light or white zin is my point, I guess -- no offense to anyone who does. :D My question is this: Are the drinks that are available in the deluxe package worthwhile? (If you were to tell me that bud light is the only beer and white zin is the only wine, I would reconsider purchasing the package.)

I want to know that when I spend $800+ that I won't have a surprise bill at the end of the week because "normal" drinks were actually $15/glass. Does that make sense? We're not super picky, promise... I just want to make sure I'm budgeting correctly. :)

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated!

  3. I called her. She said I had to buy the drink packages through the cruise planner. I have their booking IDs but no access through cruise planner for them. I guess I'll just call RC

Can you let me (us) know how that goes? We booked through a Travel Agent but our friends booked through RC directly and we've been having issues here and there linking our reservations. I don't need to call RC at the moment but I want to see if they're able to help you. TIA!
