  1. Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before on here, but do Princess have 'formal' nights on their cruises? (ours is 12 days) We need to know if we should pack our glad rags

Also the last sea day of the cruise will be Christmas day - do princess do anything special for Christmas, such as Christmas themed menus or something?

    thanks in advance

  2. We just booked our first Princess cruise on Crown and elected not to be 'upgraded' should the opportunity arise, because the Princess rep on the phone said if they upgrade you, you don't get a choice of what cabin or what deck / location.... and the Princess rep said if we accept an upgrade then we just have to take whatever stateroom they upgrade us to

So we chose to just keep our booked stateroom

" is this 2 casual meals per person"

yes it is per person, but currently only two options on the Crown.

ok thanks for that - I'll have to look at the menus for The Salty Dog Grill closer to the time

Wife is looking forward to the specialty deserts... they look calorific!

  4. ok with the dining, we will mainly use the MDR / Buffet / International cafe and the grill out by the pools that does burgers / taco's...etc (forgot the name sorry)

but according to this (below) we're entitled to 2 casual dining meals per cruise - is this 2 casual meals per person (we both have the plus package) per cruise?

and apart from the Salty Dog, is there anywhere else we get 'casual dining' on Crown?

    image.png.ea17b3c1bb35b14859dbe42dff8e5596.pngthanks in advance

  5. thanks for the replies

@skynight we are just regular passengers with a balcony stateroom - but we do have the Princess Plus plan

@cnice515 thanks - they look good, but we both wear fit-bits and I don't really want to wear something on my other wrist

also does anyone know the latest time when we can disembark the ship in Sydney?

reason asking if we're looking at airfares and have found one that leaves later in the day so we don't have to worry about racing to the airport

Could we self disembark at say 10-11am, or do we have to be off the ship at a certain time?

    Nope.

Suite guests breakfast is in a specialty restaurant, not the MDR.

"Reserve" dining is in one MDR, which is any Reserve class mini or full suite, mainly only matters for dinner, as breakfast and lunch is same as everyone else (except suite breakfast in a specialty restaurant).

ok thanks for clearing that up  🙂

  7. Ok, so we’ve booked our first Princess cruise for December 2024 (South Australia) on Crown Princess

I’ll probably have 101 questions leading up to the cruise, so I’ll try not to ask them all at once.

But some that come to mind are.

    1)     What time are the nightly shows in the theatre on Crown Princess and how long are they usually? I understand they might differ, depending on where the ship is cruising and what season it is. We will make dinner reservations depending on the times of the shows.

    2)     Do the medallions fit on a standard lanyard, or do Princess provide something when you pick them up in port? We’re not interested in buying any medallion accessories if a standard lanyard will do the trick.

    3)     On debarkation day does Princess allow you to self-debark with your suitcase, or do you have to pack it up the night before and leave it out for collection?

    4)     Are the Main Dining Rooms open for breakfast, lunch and dinner all days of the cruise or just sea days for breakfast / lunch? I understand 1 of them is open only for elite / suite guests for breakfast?

    5)     Are the pools on Crown Princess heated? I see come say Princess pools are solar heated some say they’re not

    Thanks in advance

To get the sale or promo, I’d jyst go ahead and book it over the phone or on the website.

You can change your sex later, 🥴 that shouldn’t hold up the booking.

After all, it is their website error.

    Let us know.

Wife said she phoned Princess and they managed to change my details ok... the cruise planner is going to call her back as they can offer better deals

More Princess website glitches. I suddenly became a "doctor" on the website last year. No way to correct it on the website so I killed valuable time on the phone getting it corrected, then it happened again this year. I ignored it this time and it magically changed back to "Mr." at least for now. As long a you match your passport you should be good.

thanks for that... I think there is a glitch in their website because I tried to log in again and it came up asking for all my details, then when I entered them again it came up with an error message

wife is going to phone them this morning when they open and hopefully get it sorted and our cruise booked!

  10. Last night my wife & I sat down to book the cruise we want to do in December.

She hadn't seen the deck plans, so we chose a stateroom mid-fwd on Aloha deck (Crown Princess), chose Princess Plus package, then went to enter in our details and it automatically came up with my details as guest 1.... it had all my details correct - except 1 - I was listed as 'female' and not male

"No Worries" I thought - I'll just go into my profile and update my information.... but in my profile I couldn't find where it had me listed as female, so I was unable to change it.....

Does anyone know how to change these details on Princess website?

my wife is going to phone Princess today and see if they can do the booking over the phone because we want to take advantage of the $99 deposit sale that finishes today

I just came back from the Crown Princess after a 10-day trip to Mexico from SF. I've never been on a cruise before so I have nothing to compare it with. The ship is a bit old, and one of the ceilings above the coffee station in the buffet leaked every day. The staff just put a bucket under it and did not bother fixing it. The pool was never heated. Overall, it was an average experience.

thanks for that - not good about a leaking ceiling though.... you think they'd be getting that fixed a.s.a.p.

interesting coment regarding the pools - I wonder if all the pools are not heated or is it just some?

we've seen enough clips on YouTube and got some first hand reviews on Cruise Critic and we're pretty satisfied overall with the look / layout of the ship / cabins / dining options and bars...etc...

The system here is showing A308,  which is mid FWD, and between the mid and forward elevators.

Mid AFT, there is. A618 and A622 on Port.  A619 and 623 Starboard.

There are several nice Premium balconies located right at the mid-ship Elevators.

    C430,  C432, and C434. Port,    and C433 Starboard

I would highly recommend one of these on Caribe.

thanks - we'd not considered a Premium balcony stateroom because we saw a couple of 'stateroom reviews on YouTube where people were looking down onto the balconies below.... and it didn't look that private - but yes they are in a good location

  13. thanks for the replies... when I go to do a booking on Princess website and go to choose a state room it says mid-ship is not available (on any deck), so I've been looking at mid-aft and the only staterooms that are available are on decks 11, 12 and 14 - we are booking direct and not using a T/A

wife said she might phone Princess and ask about rooms available.... but I would say what's on their website is all they have?

I do not know if the availability that you are seeing is different than we are showing here in the U.S...  But, the system is showing several balcony cabins mid-FWD and mid-AFT on decks 11 and 12.

If you are showing any balcony cabins that have interior cabins across the hall...  that might be good.

The advice about booking with other cabins around you is oft repeated!

I would also encourage you to book one of the premium cabins on deck 10.  Those balconies are NICE.   And, you might find one that is surrounded by other cabins.

thanks - I've been looking at mid-aft and there are a few on deck 11 and 12

we're not really interested in the premium balconies as the decks above can see down on the balconies

You may not be able to find a review for your exact cabin...Google is your friend here. Keep in mind that YouTube has many video reviews as well.

thanks - over the last week we've watched about 20-30 Crown Princess videos on you tube... I feel like I've already been on the ship LOL.

I'll try google search for the staterooms we're looking at

  16. ok thanks for the replies

When I look at the deck plans for mid aft the Calypso pool & the Horizon Court seem to be above the cabins not the main pool but from reports anywhere under the pool deck can be noisy due to the loungers being arranged & the towel carts etc.  Have you looked for reviews on a particular cabin?  If your wife is concerned I would book the lower floors.  It really isn't far to a set of elevators anywhere you book with the exception of the furthest cabins in the front & aft.  FYI we are booked in a cabin on the Riviera deck in May to Alaska so we'll see how we like it then!

thanks for the advice, but where would I find reviews on a particular cabin / stateroom? - I didn't know you could find reviews stateroom
