  1. For too long I made assumptions on what each insurance heading meant. Bad idea. I used the comparison tool another CC member suggested to compare costs. But, $$ comparisons clearly do not tell the 'whole story'... It is important to read the restrictions in a policy. I did notice that Gernerali had the wording I quoted from one of their policies. Reading a Travel Guard option, I found this: "In the event the Insured’s Injury or Sickness prevents prior authorization of the Emergency Evacuation, Travel Guard must be notified as soon as reasonably possible." Other policies do not specify "Prior" - but do indicate that the "the program medical advisor determine that transportation to a Hospital or medical facility is Medically Necessary" - that is not as clear as it should be so default naturally goes to the Corporation! Clearly the '10 day look' is something that definitely needs that time and attention. And - Something wrong when the "rules" can be written in such a way to benefit only one side...We offer this much "coverage" - but most likely you will never be able to collect any of it...Gotcha!
  2. "Expenses incurred by you for Physician-ordered emergency medical evacuation, including medically appropriate transportation and necessary medical care en route, to the nearest suitable Hospital, when you are critically ill or injured and no suitable local care is available, subject to prior approval by us or our authorized agent"
  3. Thanks much. I was worried about having to find a Internet Cafe in port somewhere.
  4. Can anyone tell me - Does Zaandam still have computers in the Exploration Cafe (?) for individuals to use (At a price, of course)... Thanks much.
  5. A part of the reason HAL may seem to have on average an older crowd is their Grand Voyages. How many Millennials or families with children in school can go on cruises that last 30 - 94 or more days? Those itineraries are primarily enjoyed by retirees who want a longer cruise that involves fewer flights and multiple cruises to reach the same goal of seeing what the Grand Voyages provide: Circumnavigation of Africa, S America, Australia /NZ, etc. And I hope that HAL will continue to provide those opportunities.
  6. Someone on another HAL site said the Grand South America cruise was being 'stopped or paused' after the 2023 trip to begin different itineraries. Has anyone else heard the same? Do you know what other itineraries will be replacing it? I'd hoped there would be one in 2025 as I have other bookings that would conflict with the 2023 sailing.
