  1. Thank you for all your input and perspectives! I guess what I meant by rebuilt enough was, will they be up and running enough in a year where a good amount excursions will be available, and will the island really look and feel like it does in its normal state. I only ask because we have never been to any part of the Caribbean, and we can't afford to cruise over and over, so this may be our one time with our kids to see these islands. :)

  2. Just curious if anyone has any idea how long it might take for the Caribbean islands to rebuild after the hurricane? We are looking at a cruise going to St Maarten and San Juan next February, but I have no idea if the islands will be back up to speed in a year. I know people are cruising there now, but never having been to any of these places, I wondered if it might be better to do a cruise with different ports for now, or if a year would be enough time for the islands to repair. Thank you!

  3. We rented a beach bed and are doing the aqua park for our February cruise. I have never been to CocoCay either, but from what I understand, the beach beds are not close to the aqua park. Someone who has been there can probably speak to the exact distance between the two. I don't think they are flexible on time at the aqua park. You reserve it for one hour. I reserved our time when I reserved the beach bed. I think the waterslide is flexible--I believe that is for the whole day. Hope this helps!

  4. The price difference is $845. Seems like a big price difference to me, but I guess the viewpoint on cost is all relative! $845 would pay for some good shore excursions, I'm sure. But activities on board, and the quality of dining (main dining room, not specialty) make a big difference too. Thanks for the input so far! 😊

  5. I am looking at two different options for cruising next February--one on Adventure of the Seas and one on Harmony of the Seas. Both itineraries are the same (Labadee, St Maarten, San Juan) except Adventure stops in St Kitts as well. We have two kids, ages then will be 14 and 12. Which is the better choice? We have never cruised before...our first cruise is next month on Anthem. Just looking for pros/cons and a comparison from those who have sailed on these ships before. Thank you!

  6. Hi all--only 27 days until our Anthem cruise--our first cruise ever! Very excited. I have read a lot about the lines for the bumper cars and roller skating on Anthem, but not much about the circus trapeze. Are the lines for that as long as they are for the others? Just wondering how far ahead we should line up. Thanks! :)

  7. Thank you for all your replies. Buffets are notoriously unsafe for people with Celiac disease. Even a gluten free buffet that's separate from other buffet areas can be unsafe. There are so many passengers with access to that food--anyone could touch food on it with "gluten hands" or touch gluten food on their plate with a utensil from the gluten free area...too much risk. That's why a person with Celiac needs to have a chef make a meal in the kitchen. No lecture, just fact. I truly appreciate all the advice. Keeping my daughter safe is my priority, so she can have a fun vacation. :)

  8. Thank you! I was concerned that with the size of the ship, and the craziness I've heard about in the WJ on embarkation day, that it would be hard to pin down a chef who could take the time to make her a safe meal. We plan on boarding as early as possible, so hopefully we can hit the WJ before the big crowds. Your comments make it sound promising!

  9. My daughter has Celiac. We will be on Anthem in February. I have her dining all worked out for the main dining room, but the only thing I'm concerned about is lunch on embarkation day. Any other celiacs out there who have sailed Anthem? Where did you go for lunch on embarkation day?

  10. Our first port stop is Port Canaveral for our cruise in February. We are trying to decide between going to Kennedy Space Center or staying onboard. What activities do they have for kids onboard on a port day, besides a less crowded pool? Are the bumper cars and Northstar up and running? Just wondering if there will be enough for my kids to do if we stay onboard. I have looked at past Cruise Compasses but am having trouble finding one for a very recent 8 day Bahamas cruise on Anthem. Thanks for any help! :)

  11. All the online iFly reservations for our February cruise on Anthem are taken. Where do I go to make reservations once onboard? I have heard guest services, the Royal Theater and the iFly desk. I don't want to waste any time once onboard because this is our priority! Thank you! :)
