Completely underwhelmed with the itineraries on offer for Voyager when she kicks of her Brisbane season, so a big no from us, but have booked the 3 legs from Rome to Brisbane, including a 7 night Croatia cruise beforehand. When Explorer left Australia in 2019 we only cruised as far as Dubai and always regretted not going through the Suez, so here is the opportunity. We've never cruised in these waters, or the Mediterranean so are really keen. Many cruise critic members have experience in these areas, and all comments sought. Too early for any roll-calls yet, but the other social media outlet is up and running. We'll be doing the ports on this cruise on the smell of an oil rag, so any tips from fellow parsimonious passengers would be great. I gather the Singapore to Sydney leg is attracting a lot of interest.
That cruise is filling up ,only a few junior suites left and standard cabins look well over half sold.
It was only released last week .

I take groups worldwide and advise all my clients to choose a different cruise as I feel Dubai wilk be closed to cruiselines also because of attack on commercial ship. I could be completely wrong, but I have been in this business white a while and seen this many times before. Dubai will be another hot sppt
There was a ship hijacked just the other day.

Absolutely. And they can change course at very short notice with no disruption to passengers if the situation requires it.Interesting that Cunard have already decided to divert QM2’s 2025 world cruise around Africa instead of through Suez. That’s a whole year away. They clearly aren’t optimistic about the situation improving so anyone who’s booked on the Voyager Rome to Dubai repo in 18 months would be wise to have a Plan B.
Plan A which looks like a fizzer .Plan B which I’m not real confident in and now working on Plan C .
Provisions would be an issue for Royal,I don’t think they have Fosters in South Africa.

More of a fish out of water story Phil, but an interesting comparison from an "outside" writer vs all of the social media guff. Full of stereotypes, and a few cultural in-jokes, but an attempt at situational comedy within a travel story.
Yes, it won't change anything. The story is more about general cruising weirdness anyway.
I like where uncle Bob first saw Icon ,he said he let out a Gordon Ramsay .

It seems Anthems repo for passengers has been cancelled and they have been offered to join Voyagers

I haven’t received anything from my USA Travel Agent yet. Just waiting for this email to arrive.1:02

About Your Upcoming Travels
Dear Guest,
We have all been closely monitoring the unrest in the Red Sea and were hopeful everything would settle down. Unfortunately, due to security risks and with the safety of our guests and crew top of mind, we've made the difficult decision that Anthem of the Seas will instead have to transit around the southern tip of Africa.
As a result, our October 14th, 2024, sailing onboard Anthem of the Seas has been
cancelled.
We're truly sorry for the impact that this has on your vacation plans. The time and effort you took to plan your cruise is important to us, so we've put together some alternate options that we hope will work for you and those in your party.
Option 1: Rebook our Explorer of the Seas 8-Night Greece, Cyprus & Turkey Voyage sailing on October 19th, 2024:
Sailing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy and debarking in Athens (Piraeus), Greece and visiting:
• Santorini, Greece | Mykonos, Greece | Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey | Bodrum, Turkey |& Limassol, Cyprus
What you'll receive:
• Your original stateroom category price will either be protected at your original cruise fare rate or reduced to the current cruise fare rate (whichever is lower). This excludes taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare items.
If you were already paid in full and your cruise fare rate decreases, we'll provide you with a refund for any difference in pricing.
- To sweeten the offer, you'll receive a credit to spend onboard per
-
$100 USD for Interior, Ocean View, and Balcony staterooms | 5200 USD
for Suites - Plus, an additional 550 USD for each third or more guest to spend onboard.
- And, you'll also be reimbursed for non-refundable, pre-purchased transportation change fees incurred (such as a flight, train ticket, or rental car).
- We'll cover up to $200 USD (E161) per guest for Domestic changes, or up to $400 USD (£321) per guest for international changes.
- Please email your receipts and booking information to RoyalGuestRelations@rcel.com for review,
- Include the following information in your email: Booking ID,

You may as well transfer to Voyager,if that actually happens.

There is no revenue sailing listed at this point which leads me to believe they will be deadheading.
It might not be practical to have passengers Ken.
It would probably be broken up into segments around Africa and there might not be enough flights to transfer passengers.
If you take Capetown, there might be 3,000 passengers getting off and another 3,000 getting on .
There wouldn’t be enough flights to handle a extra 6,000 people moving through Capetown.

There’s no guarantee Option 1 will go ahead as planned either, the way things are going. That’s what I’m worried about, that problem isn’t going anywhere fast.

So what’s the verdict with your Anthem repositioning?
Will the new itinerary work for you?

Yep, Knew this was coming. Just received a few of these for clients. The 12 day Canaries sailing prior to this one has been shortened to 8 days
Ken , I don’t see a option to stay on the reposition.
Does it have to be rebooked or doesn’t it have passengers?

I will just sit tight and see what happens. Who knows how long it will take for the actual cancellation to happen.
The problem is the replacement Royal Europe cruises are so far overpriced at the moment including the Trans Atlantic’s.
Royal are making too much money off the Singapore to Brisbane Voyager repositioning November 2025 to change to this common sense schedule Cape Town to Fremantle. Getting to and from Caperown will be worse for Aussies then the current status of flights Oz to Honolulu. Singapore has heaps of daily flights to Australian cities. Voyager leaving Rome around 20 October 2025 looks a very possible scenario to take on time at Dubai.
I think Dubai is becoming risky, that container ship was hijacked by Iran just the other day as it came out of Dubai on the way to India.
I haven’t thought about flights out Capetown ,they would be limited.

Anthem of the Seas appears on this Southampton schedule 10 October 2024 the day she is meant to be in Madeira. This is an extra date.
These are the current cruises.
2 to 14 October Canary Island Cruise.
14 to 23 October Southampton to Rome
23 October to 7 November Rome to Dubai
7 to 21 November Dubai to Singapore.
It looks probable the Canary Island Cruise will be cut short and go elsewhere. Then depart Southampton 10 October 2024 for Dubai via Capetown. So that looks like it’s gaining a few days from the cruise before the repo . How does that affect you?
Im hoping the Voyager repo,if it diverts to Capetown just goes straight to Brisbane and drops Singapore.
Something like the virgin ship but in reverse.

My first solo cruise, I just couldn’t find anyone to go and I was pretty apprehensions about it But I had one of the best times of my life .
I found you had get out there and meet people and if there was a group they quickly took you in.
Royal usually has a single meet and a lunch ,one thing I found on Celebrity is they have a singles host ,which was good.

Better than going ape about it!!
We have quite a few friends on Virgin at present, and they are having a great time. They are however, quite a bit out of pocket after not being reimbursed for out-of-pocket cancellation of tours. It would have been much worse if they had only been doing part of the trip and disembarking in Singapore or Dubai. Any cancelled flights weren't compensated. I am sure Royal would be much better, but it will be hard to commit money to flights while it is all so uncertain.
Quiet a few airlines now offer refunds, which was a surprise to me .
Im looking at Singapore airlines to Germany and they offer cancellation upto 24 hours before departure ,with only $250 penalty.

Lol, it seems using other cruiselines as examples are required in this the thread after all.
Well it’s the best example I can find because Royal Caribbean hasn’t diverted around the bottom of Africa I can find.

Chilli i just got the spam email to buy drinks packages, internet, speciality restaurants, tours etc for Anthem repositioning.
This was the virgin ships itinerary,I think you can expect something like it.
I have the voyager repositioning through the Suez Canal booked and we have a plan B ready. At the moment we are going to fly home from Dubai but if it goes around the bottom of Africa ,We will fly home from Cape Town .

Any word on your repositioning cruise on Anthem Glen?
Things seem to be taking a turn for the worse in the Red Sea area.

That’s a very motivating video there Geoff.
Probably the most inspiring thing I’ve seen on this Royal Caribbean thread since they released their 2025 -2026 Australian season .
I reckon if you had some subliminal advertising in the background on the outrageous prices and repetitive itineraries that Royal have . You might be up for a advertising award of some description.
I noticed they only deliver in the U.S , how do you receive the medallion here ? Is it in the cabin or something?

No price drop match in Australia anymore,so my agent said.
Since the cruise with confidence program ended there’s only 3 day cooling off period after booking that they will reprice it ,so I’m told. -
