  1. Ovation is a new generation of ship and it’s different.

12;30 you can show up and they will let you on.

Drop your bags and a little bit earlier and have a look around circular quay.

I’ve been on this ship 4 times and they don’t check your time allocation.

They use a contractor,Inter cruising.I think they where called.

They don’t care and just let you go. They don’t care

You will be met in side by RC staff with iPads that will scan your sea pass ,identification and your on.

Your sea card will be in the front of your cabin door.your cabin will be ready at 1:30 pm.in the mean time you can use your sea pass for anything you want to buy.

There’s a nice pub called the fortunes of war a few minutes walk, supposedly the oldest pub in Sydney?

  2. You are probably right, although it is nice to receive an email to let you know that on a cruise you have booked there is 30% of your drinks package.

They send a flash sale regarding your next cruise and you go the cruise planner and there’s just the regular prices.

I read somewhere that RC now has a policy of not discount on Cruise planner.

  3. We found the only wine we liked was very expensive by the bottle and the glass we got ($14 but on the package) was a very generous size. The wine that was $9 a glass was way too sweet for me. I do think though that had we not got the package I would have learned to enjoy it as I hate spending too much!! Also I think my husband would have had more beers than glasses of wine as the beer was cheaper.

To be honest ,if you are smart about buying the drinks the prices are reasonable.

We went to a pub in Hobart and bought two pints of boags ( a local beer ) and a scotch and dry ,it come to $32 .

We said let’s go back to the ship,it’s cheaper.

  4. We were on it last week to Tasmania.

Don’t bother with the drinks package.

You can take two bottles of wine,

they have a beer special called bucket of beer ,5 for the price of 4. $37 au. I get fosters 750 mm cans.

Each bar has a mixed drink of the day $8-50 au and some are good.

Then there’s some freebies like the captain party.

As for crowds ,I find it’s the biggest problem with this ship. I’ve been on it 4 times and it really gets a log jam of people.

If you avoid the peak times it’s not too bad.
