  1. I have never been to a Princess M&G where Princess provided any food or beverage.

At best, there will be a bar open that you can purchase drinks at.

Just a miscommunication between the contact and myself, thanks for clearing it up. Yes, we will have a bar open for attendees to purchase drinks.

  2. We have found that Princess Air domestic flights are often not the way to go; we do have good luck with international.

Princess' Domestic often gives you multiple stops in strange directions.

Because I am flying from a smaller international airport there are only a few flights that get me to Seattle in time and only 1 of them was a direct flight to Seattle then another direct flight to Vancouver. The other airlines were going to Phoenix or Las Vegas, one with another stop after that. I was willing to spend a bit more for my direct Seattle flight under the EZ Air program.

  3. I arranged a M&G for I cruise I was on recently. I made up invitations, non-specific, and took them to the Service Desk on the afternoon we boarded and asked them if they could put one in each Senior Officer's mailbox. The Captain, Maitre D and a few other officers turned up and gave short talks on their areas of control and anything in particular we should know. By arranging it through Princess we got a private bar, pay for your own drinks, and some finger food.

I just used a CC image downloaded from this website for the letterhead.

I am arranging a M&G for the 1 Oct Ruby Princess cruise and was told by the Princess contact that they don't provide food. Now it is just before lunch, so that doesn't really matter, but had been told originally that they provided light snacks. Did you have/need a microphone for your M&G? So you didn't have officers' names on your invites, just had them put in appropriate mailboxes?

  4. I hope your weather is better than ours was last year. But it was bearable and expected given the time of year. I thoroughly enjoyed the Ruby Princess, I would cruise Alaska again on her. MDR food was outstanding and varied, the buffett was good and convenient for busy schedules, the service was excellent. Have a Great Cruise.

  5. We are booked on the Ruby Princess Classic California Coast leaving LA on Oct 7. The Princess website still shows this cruise when I search, it still shows my booking and I haven't received any emails. Maybe the changes are sometime after this date?

I am on the 10/1 Ruby cruise from Vancouver to LA. I cruised once before on Ruby Princess and loved it; I'd be really unhappy if there was some change in ships. Hopefully the changes don't affect Oct, but can only wait and find out. Still, would be a bad start to a much anticipated cruise.

  6. depending on how much walking you can do and how long the time in Rome is, walking is the only way to see the city. Can get from the colosseum to Trevi Fountain in about 20 to 30 minutes. Must see the fountain, not just a drive by, if at all possible. Other sites on the way to the vatican include the Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps. Can be done in somewhat of a straight line ending at the Vatican. But it is a healthy walk. Also, it is easier to get into the Sistine Chapel as part of a tour than as a single person who might have to wait in line after other tours. But the Chapel is worth every minute of waiting in line. Also take time to walk in St Peter's and St Peter's square.

If walking is not an option, then take the tour and see as much of the city as you can. But do include the Sistine Chapel, it is a moving experience.

Look up Google maps for Rome and locate the various sites you want to see, then decide on the best way for you to see them. I envy your chance to see the Eternal city, it is has been years since I was there.

  7. I believe they have always needed to enter the number or scan the card, so this is not new. When Princess first introduced the package they made you sign a receipt for each included drink. Including two receipts if you were getting a drink with your wife's card as well. I figured that process would not last long.

I just had to show my card with the sticker, they didn't take the card to scan it or enter the number. Maybe they were lazy, lol. but it was so easy just showing the sticker.

  8. Thanks for all of the information. I haven't decided how much walking i want to do, but i do have a good map of the area to see what is within walking distance. It has been many years since I have been to the city, but I am there for relaxation and site seeing, not a marathon. Feel free to make any other comments and suggestions.

    Michael

  9. I had the sticker on my card, thought it was very convenient way to handle it. If they have to now enter each order it must add to their workload. Memorizing the folio number doesn't seem to be an easy answer. Guess i will need to make sure the bartenders and servers recognize me quickly.

  10. I am on a cruise stopping in San Francisco in October and I'm trying to confirm the pier we will dock at. Is it Pier 27, what appears to be the Princess Cruises pier? I am considering how to spend my time in the city and wonder if we will be close enough to Pier 39 to walk there. From Pier 27 to Pier 39 appears to be less than a mile and I wouldn't need to schedule an excursion at all.

  11. I am a Coke fanatic so i am thrilled that is the soda of choice on Princess Cruises. But an all you can drink soda deal includes Mocktails and juices, doesn't it? Does anyone know what kind of Mocktail or juices are included?

  12. When we ate at the Crown Grill last September we didn't know what to expect. We ordered the main dish and sides and were quite pleased. But then they brought us lobster tails which we were not expecting. We were the only diners that evening so they may have just brought us what they had available, but we were thrilled they did. Now to find out it isn't likely to happen again without paying more is disappointing. Any change from previous service seems a decrease in service.

  13. I booked as soon as I decided to take the cruise, about 4 months in advance. I am risk adverse and wanted to lock in the best cabin I could afford. When i saw a month later the price of an interior room had gone down, I checked with my TA. They talked to Princess and the deal was I could get the lower amount by selecting the cabins that were available under that sale. I chose to keep my preferred cabin selection over saving a few bucks. maybe a higher savings might have changed my mind, but I am thrilled with my cabin choice.

  14. I know this thread has been dormant for a few months, but I really enjoyed reading the comments and seeing the wonderful pictures of Ruby Princess. i will be taking the Pacific Coastal cruise on the Ruby Princess on 10/1 and it will be the second cruise on her. While the main purpose of the cruise is to relax, I am looking forward to the excurstions. I am going to Solvang at the Santa Barbara stop and was able to print out a map of the local wine tasting sites. There was so much said on this thread I can't comment on without a very long comment. But i will say I am so excited about cruising again (not a frequent cruiser) and cruising on the Ruby Princess. I am a solo cruiser and enjoyed the comments from others in the same situation.

  15. We cruised to Alaska on Ruby Princess mid September last year. Weather wasn't great, but that wasn't Princess' fault, and it was bearable. I loved the cruise, thought the food variety, both in the MDR and Horizon court was outstanding. I don't know if the menus change much year to year, but if you have the chance to try the lobster bisque, I highly recommend it.

Staff was always helpful and very polite. Excurstions are a personal preference on what to see, but I was impressed with the Mendenhall Glacier.

I am taking my second Princess cruise, and on the Ruby Princess again! Very much looking forward to it.

  16. I'm not fond of dressing up, but I did participate on our last cruise. Can't afford to go all out, but a nice dark pair of pants, good shirt and a dark sports coat was more than enough; saw people without coats and a few without ties. I enjoyed wearing ties those nights, they gave me a chance to show some color to my outfit.
