  1. "I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me"; Winston Churchill.

We have quietly passed drinks to our 20 year old onboard; no one cares. Don't be obnoxious about it, never flaunt it, don't over do it (plus pay in full, not part of a drink package). No ones getting kicked off the ship. Try being discreet and not acting like a fool and you will be fine...

  2. Paradise Beach is fine; it is also a la carte. Three dollars to get in, Ten dollar minimum must be spent on food/drink. Last time I (the parent paying) was in Cozumel with three young 20 somethings in tow we would have spent 100 the first hour on drinks alone at Paradise Beach, this on top of the 13 just to walk in. I will stick with the albeit weak but free flowing booze and beer at Mr. Sancho's (great tacos carbon too)!

  3. Reserve in advance on-line 5 dollar deposit per person; wonderful service (they really run for you for a good tip later) never waited one second for a drink or pretty good food for an all inclusive, and we have been there twice (no idea what they are talking about above). Free Wi Fi by the buffet (can also order off menu at your table/chairs). It is like a 10-15 min cab ride (cheap) find it hard to believe anyone would try to walk...Cabs are lined up there to take you back

  4. Wonderful report; we lived in South Florida for ten years and the way you write reminds me of another person from there - Dave Barry. If you ever go back to Costa Maya consider visiting the ruins at Chacchoben; they are only about an hour away. We used The Native Choice (not through the line); small vans/groups, great guides, safe, reasonably priced and get you back in plenty of time. One ruins site is plenty for this port - that is if you can find your way out of the port area; never seen such a maze to escape the fake little village that they built there...

  5. Been there 3 times I cannot imagine they will care one bit; they will be happy to see you and may even return the deposit for the no-show. Great customer service and super friendly! Or you could just book two and I am sure there would be no issue if a third person showed up. Great drinks, food, pools - love Mr. Sanchos!!!

  6. Interesting question....you for sure will be able to drink anything in most ports in the Caribbean...

True - in most Caribbean ports if your tall enough to see over the top of the bar with 20 dollar bills in your hand you can drink yourself into a coma; no ones checking ID's down there it's show me the money!

  7. Overall is mild and likely ok for a 12 year old; there is one scene involving a pack of cigarettes placed in shorts that really does not need to be there and adds nothing to the production (not sure why it is there).

  8. If you want crowded overpriced excursions stick with the cruise line; other than some Europe stops and Far East ports book it yourself. Anywhere in the Caribbean and Mexico especially. Nassau,. for example, nothing is more than 15 minutes from dock - you can see the ship from Paradise Island. Why would you pay double and be herded like cattle with the line? Same goes for just about every other island; cabs everywhere plus reputable excursions that count on you for their living.

  9. So, we are on Oasis out of Port Canaveral for eastern Caribbean on 5/20-5/27. There is a very real possibility there will be a tropical storm/hurricane coming through the area 5/22-25. At what point does the cruise line make the call to cancel?

We live Orlando and this is complete nonsense; a "very real possibility", based on what? Do you have a time machine? Been through many of these living in Miami (Andrew) and 2004/2017 here. You have little to nothing to worry about in May...

  10. oops - believed that 100% - cannot believe anyone would think a 3 year old is right for an intinerary like that! thx...

Yes seriously the only children we saw were children of officers who were on for a day or 2.
  11. Both last arrivals did walk off self assist at Port Everglades used Mobile Passport (December 2017, September 2017) was curbside before 730 am - 10 minutes cabin door to curb; the Mobile Passport line was much shorter than the normal line, maybe 4 parties ahead of us (just ask in Terminal if no sign up - there is a dedicated line).
