  1. Last year on the Dream the cups had 2018, not the name of the ship. This year on the Glory, I bought what looks like a hand cast cup with just the name of the Glory on it. Great cup, but a picture of the ship would be cool again.

  2. I have done the BTF tour. It is well worth the price to do once. Maybe twice if it's a different class of ship.

Places you never see, like the morgue are on the tour. You can't go in, but you see the door and know it's there. On the Glory the biggest surprise to me was that they have an escalator in the galley for moving people and food up and down.

At the end of the tour you get a BTF lanyard, hat, backpack, and some other stuff. You get to meet the Capt on the bridge and ask him questions and also take a picture with him.

Our tour was on the last sea day. It took about 3.5 hours. Lots of walking and stairs.

    Do it.

I guess folding is a regional thing. I notice people from NE do this.  Here in the South, not so much., even if the slice is "foldable ".

I am Bama born by the grace of God, and I only fold the giant slices I get at Sam's club. That $2.50 slice and drink is the bomb.

On the ship I love the prosciutto pizza. We do a late night 2 pizzas and carry them to the kareoke (sp) room to have dinner and a show. Good times.

NO LOBSTER?  Gonna have to cancel my cruise.  Just kidding.  I will miss it though.

Fresh lobster, cooked correctly, and served immediately is a glorious thing. Mass cooked and served frozen lobster is a really good sponge for soaking up melted butter, which happens to also be glorious. I don't order lobster on cruises.

  5. I have both bought FTTF, and also not got it on several cruises. Bottom line, you get onboard about 10 minutes faster (NOLA)  on embarkation day, and maybe get off a "bit" sooner on disembarkation day. As for port stops, if it's a tender port, and you have a NON carnival excursion or no excursion you can get off right after the priority cruisers. Would I buy it again? Nah, been there, done that, didn't make enough difference to justify the cost. To each his own.

  6. We started our cruising life with late dining, and have met many people who have become lifetime friends.

then we tried YTD. Funny thing, first night we picked a time that was about between early and late dining that fit our style and allowed us to catch the late production show. Every night we showed up at the same time, got the same table, and the same staff. It was wonderful. We are sticking with YTD.

  7. The charge on your S&S card is $3 to wash, $3 to dry. We always buy detergent from the vending machine early in the trip, as they seem to get empty near the end of a cruise.

Sort of off topic: I only pack 3 days of clothes. One day to get to port, one day to get on the ship, and then something to wear on the first sea day when I have to do a load. Makes for a small easy bag to lug off the ship on that sad last day.

  8. The watch sales they offer during the cruise are not good. Every cruise I people watch as the great Invicta deals are offered around a table, and the crowds gather to buy at super reduced prices. Prices that are higher than I can buy on line, if for some reason I just had to buy a watch. Also, the watch sales people are not that knowledgeable at all about their product.

If you've gotten your luggage early after tipping the porter more, it was by sheer coincidence. The porters are employed by the port, not Carnival. They load your luggage onto their cart, then wait to fill the cart with more luggage. That's where yours begins to get lost in the mix. They're not watching yours to make sure it goes first. Then all they do is take the luggage to a staging area where they're stacked into the large bins that are then loaded onto the ship. By that time, all those bags get shuffled around. Once on the ship, they get shuffled around some more to find the bags with priority delivery and arrange them according to decks. The porter you gave more money to never gave it any thought. They don't see any one bag through from pick-up to cabin...they can't. They aren't holding bags aside to be delivered by a certain time according to their tips. So sorry to say, you're not buying your way ahead of anyone. The porters you're tipping more than you need to are the ones laughing.

The porters have control over which cart your luggage goes into. Do you really think they treat luggage from someone who stiffs them the same as the guy that hands them a $20?

The Legend was my favorite ship until the Dream Class came. The Conquest class(Glory) is my least favorite. So, I’d likely go with Legend or Magic. Because I’m doing the exact same itinerary on the Miracle in a few days, I’d probably go with Magic. I’ve also done that itinerary on the Legend once before. One of my favorite cruises.

I agree with every single thing said in this post. Pick the Magic. Dream class is the best of the best of the best.

  11. FTTF: We've had it, and not had it. It doesn't speed things up much, other than disembarking on the last day. The best way to get your luggage early is to give the porter a heavy tip. No tip gets you at the back of the line. $5 a bag gets your luggage by 2 or 3. $10 a bag gets your luggage on the first load into the ship. Is this fair? No. But it works. I can buy my way ahead of you in line. BBwwwaaaaHAHAHAHAHAHA.

S&S cards on the door. Can some one steal this and charge your card? Cards have a picture that comes up on the register when scanned onboard. You better look like the person on the stolen card. Plus, all the shops are closed until international waters are reached so other than a drink or two in the worst case, it's not going to be a big problem.

  12. To add in, the USB plugs on some ships lamps won't handle the newer rapid charge devices. The phone will complain and say to plug in elsewhere.

As for the european adapters, we use one that has 2 usb outlets on it. But it gets hot with 2 devices plugged in so it's really just one extra usb plug. As for getting a small european 220vac to 120v adapter, beware. It changes the plug layout but it is still 220vAC. This is OK for some devices, and sudden death for others.
