  1. I haven't been on Royal in a couple of years but I remember getting a bottle of wine as a perk (could have chosen other things but it's what we chose) I can't find anything about this on the website, does anyone here know what I am referring to and whether or not this is still a thing?  If so, where can I find info about it?

If you're on a 4-night cruise, you'll each have 2 free days. That's a total of 4 free days for a 4-day cruise. If you are able to share, you won't need additional days.

Yes, but I figure one way or another we will run short and just trying to figure out what an additional day will cost.

  3. So since DH and I are both D+ on a 4 night cruise we would both have 2 free days.  What do the additional days cost?  We are looking at a sailing next month and can't find this answer on the website without actually booking the room and we're still unsure if we're going to do it.

I would rather spend my food budget on the different specialty restaurants than on one chef's table.

Agree completely with this.  We were disappointed in the Chef's Table on Reflection and would not do it again.  Way too expensive and much depends on who is at the table with you.

Lois, I hope that you will return here once your cruise is over and let us know what you think of Celebrity now versus your previous cruises on X.  It may be interesting and enlightening for some of us who have been disappointed in things the last couple of years.  Perhaps with the, in many cases, extreme increase in prices, we have come to expect too much.

  5. You should enjoy Luminae, since you are on an "S" class ship you will be able to select from both the Luminae and the MDR menu, something you can't do on the Edge class.

Try Le Petit Chef... it's fun, the food is usually good and the "show" is definitely worthy of one visit.

I just book for my wife for next November, the last time we were on Equinox they didn’t have class

I only book her as I have no artistic talent 😁

I wish it was more than  5% off for the Black Friday sale

Did you book this online?  I can't find it on my planner.

  7. Solstice ....   S class are wonderful and the Penthouse is amazing. Luminae on S class FAR better than on the Edge class ships, smaller, more intimate and you have MDR menus to pick from while Edge class does not.

Since you are not big "show" goers and enjoy your suite I don't think there's any question that Solstice is the better choice.

And while you don't have a "retreat" area you do have Michael's Club for drinks & snacks as a suite guest.

The Horizon Suites they are definitely going to complete because I have the option to upgrade to them on our June 4 sailing.

Fingers crossed they're able to get this all done!

That's good because I'm booked in one later this year.

If it only took 42 days, and they already completed half of this previously, then maybe they are going to finish it in 3 to 4 weeks.

Yes, I think that's possible too.  There are somethings that could be left out, like don't change the balcony furniture, the old stuff is far better than the new uncomfortable ones.  Keep the stacks of throw pillows in storage.  Do complete the Horizon Suites, those 4 would be a nice addition to the suites on Equinox.  Change carpet in all the rooms, update bedding(if not already done) paint everything that needs it inside and out.etc erc...  I can't wait to see pictures of Equinox after this drydock, hope they are able to finish the job they started a couple years ago!!!

  10. Does anyone know how long the drydock was for Silhouette when it got the full "revolution" update?

I would think since Equinox was partially done...and a good bit of it WAS completed that 3 weeks would be enough time to complete the process.  Now whether or not X is willing or able to cough up the $$ to do this is another question.

I know they are selling the "Horizon Suite" at the front of the ship after the drydock, so have to assume that will be converted during this dry dock.

Your post sound liked us. We are not a party couple.  We do enjoy fine dinning, long cruises and quiet spaces on a cruise ship to enjoy our companship.

What is the true dress code on the O Cruise Lines ?

Dress code is pretty casual.  We dressed as we have for X since they eliminated formal nights.  The only evening we were "dressed up" was the evening of the Captain's reception (2nd night) and while I was told we might "stand out" because the dress code is more casual we felt perfectly comfortable.  I had a new dressy outfit I just wanted to wear once, so I did and my DH wore a coat and tie.  We were definitely in the minority but there were others who dressed up a bit that night.  Other than that I generally wore slacks and a pretty top, DH wore golf shirts and pants.

One thing that the O Vista had that was surprising for a new ship was a WONDERFUL library.  Very comfortable, quite large and literally hundreds of books.  Very nice.

@Jim_Iain, we’re excited to try O as well, however a recent reviewer indicated that if we like X ( which we do, price is the problem), then  we’d “ be bored out of  our minds on O”.I’m a bit anxious, but we’re keeping our options open.

Who knows we may be back on X in the future, but for the next couple of years all our cruises are not on X. We’re still doing family cruises on Royal though. Perfect for young adults.

There is no question that O is much quieter in every way than X.  There is nightly entertainment in the theater, usually a piano player in the martini lounge and violin trios or quartets that perform in a few different areas.  But that's it for evenings.  We were fine with this, loved the violinists, went to 2 of the shows just to see how they were (okay) and that was about it.  But then that's been no different for us on X cruises.  We enjoy our balcony in the evenings and walking around the ship.

Celebrity offers transfer on day of cruise from both Marco Polo airport and Isola Nova del Tronchetto. Cost will be added to your total.
    1. Marco Polo Airport. You have to meet courier between 11.30 and 12.30 with an expected coach departure time of 13.00 hrs!
    2. Isola Nova del Tronchetto .

Two departure times - 09.00 and 11.00. You are expected to meet courier 30 mins prior.

we were quoted $58 pp. On this thread, I’ve seen $40 and $50 quoted.

If you are Concierge and above, you may want to avail of the complimentary  lunch. Obviously, the 09.00 dep from Isola Nova is the only choice for this experience.
Your hotel (or you) can arrange private car transfer to Ravenna. The cost varies from approx €350 (2 persons) to €700 (mini-van). Hope this helps, y’all!!

Thank you for all this information.  Have looked for private transport but not having any luck at finding any that were under $7-800 for 2 persons.   I will look further by contacting the Venice hotel we will be staying at.

Do you HAVE to fly to VCE? We are flying into Bologna: same price and itineraries on American as into Marco Polo. An hour shorter transit time to to Ravenna. Many easy/cheap transport options (train/bus/car/rental). But actually the best part is the chance to spend a couple days in a new (to us) city!

Yes, we do have to.  We have not been to Venice and doubt we will have another opportunity to do so.

When you cancel a reservation you room immediately comes back into inventory and you our your agent can then grab it immediately.

@Jim_Iain My concern would be if Celebrity had others who were waitlisted for that particular category of room, would it be automatically grabbed for that guest?  I don't know if Celebrity will even wait list rooms as others like Oceania and HAL do, so it may not be an issue at all.

We are looking at a Constellation sailing from Ravenna to Civitavecchia in 2025 that has an itinerary we've always wanted to do that I can't find on other lines right now. But booking a non-refundable deposit just doesn't work for me, so I'm encouraged that you've booked a refundable and rebooked later non-refundable.

You can book refundable and later change to a non refundable deposit rate.  Once a reservation is non refundable deposit it can never be changed back to refundable.

Have thought about doing that when booking a cruise well in the future..... only issue may be that the same rate may not be available as when originally booked or the stateroom cancelled may disappear immediately on cancelling if you aren't quick enough to rebook....

    Have you done this?

Yes and years ago you got a nice Italian Chocolate (Cova) with your cup of cappuccino.    I can honestly say I have not been offered a glass of bubbly since 2019 - when Covid shut down cruising.

I can't say it bothers me because we never accepted it anyway -    nice touch but terrible cheap beverage on offer and I don't drink alcohol.

I rarely drank it either, but liked the notion of it. A nice way to welcome you aboard, making X feel a bit more special than other lines. (Even though it was pretty poor quality )

My welcome drink was so special you couldn't even see it....invisible glass with invisible "bubbly"...IF they have ever been on Celebrity it certainly wasn't recently.

They have indeed been on Celebrity.  Either a welcome glass of champagne or a mimosa as you walked on the ship.  But that ended quite awhile ago....
