  1. Good afternoon. I will try and provide a bit of information for you and your family. Fortunately I was selected once to be the Cruise lead for a family reunion cruise.

We sailed the Elation back in December 2017. A very nice ship. It has the Guys Burgers and other restaurants of choice. I cant eat any type of spice so I did not eat the burgers. My family raved about them and the Blue Iguana.

We have two adult sons so I cant help with the kids activities. We also booked two ship forward inside cabins and felt absolutely no movement during the entire cruise. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be cruising this ship again. The Jacksonville Florida Cruise Port is very easy to enter and exit. We entered the terminal about 11:30 AM and were eating lunch at noon.

    Hope you enjoy the Cruise.

  2. It is funny, I totally agree with your assessment of RCCL cruisers especially in their attitude toward Carnival. I have done 36 RCCL cruises so qualify as an experienced RCCL cruiser. And I still run into that attitude especially among the Diamond and Diamond plus and Pinnacle C&A members on Royal.

Navarre Bob thanks. I am in no way and expert at Cruising. I just know that at this time in our lives Carnival is much more affordable and meets my family needs. Again it is economics with me.

  3. Cruisers good afternoon. Variety has always been and will continue to be the spice of life. We chose Carnival years ago as our primary Cruise company. It was due to simple economics: Price.

We actually tried one RCCL cruise and did not care for that type of Cruise experience. Way too expensive and some of the passengers that we met acted as if they had these "halos" over them. We will continue to sail Carnival anticipating that they will continue to offer an affordable family cruise alternative.

  4. I agree with RWolver672. Only a handfull will probably show up; especially if you have first time cruisers who will not know what or where you are talking about.

I know its more work but just keep everyone posted via email and facebook chats. Funny how the group will eventually figure it out. Have fun and happy sailing.

  5. Thank you Saint Greg for your rapid response. We had just heard different opinions about being that far forward. Did you feel any unusual movement? That's our fear of feeling the motion of the ship. The price is really great and I hate to pass it up. Thanks

  6. Cruise Critic Family we are looking at booking via the Elation. I was offered an interior port hole cabin M4. The price is very attractive; however I have never cruised cabin forward. Would this particular Cabin be a good choice?

    Thanks

  7. I just got off the Elation yesterday (10/21). Will try to post a quick review later. It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I cruise to have a relaxing and fun time, so not much will bother me. There were still a lot of maintenance issues and workers on the ship. I didnt notice it much on the Empress deck (we were AFT Empress), but you could still smell paint on Main/Riveria Deck. The Cole Porter Lounge had a lot of issues with the furniture and details .. ie the trim peices falling off/sticking out. A few of the seats fell apart while we where in there.

The ladies restroom by the casino only had 1 stall available - the other stall door was completely off its hinges. Oh and the Empress lobby bar mid ship reeked of a cheesy smell - the drains need to be seriously sanitized and bleached. The fruit flies/gnats were insane.

My kids tried out the new Waterworks - said the waterslides lacked water... I personally didnt try them out.

We had no issues with our cabin, other than it being warm most of the time. We had the cool air cranked as high as it would go, and still at 2:00 AM in the morning, would wake up sweating.

Overall, it was a good cruise. The crew make the ship fun and entertaining.

We will be going back in a few weeks to try it out again, so hopefully the minor issues are resolved.

Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to hearing more. Will be cruising in December.

  8. :p

Nothing beat having a good pvp at Carnival. We had a good one who left suddenly last year and fortunately for us friends gave us the name of an excellent one

I realize that it's probably against the site rules to name names. However is there any way to find out your PVP's contact information or preferred PVP's/TA's? We unfortunately had one that was not that knowledgeable or professional.
