  1. Quick question for those with experience on upgrading using points. If the ship does not have Oceanview (OV), would an inside to balcony be considered a single meta upgrade (30,000 points) or still a double? I'm considering booking a gift cruise for my mom and stepfather on the Epic sailing that DH and I are booked on and the Epic does not have OV cabins.

  3. We'll continue to upgrade at this point. With the espresso martini's that DH drinks and the Don Julio that I enjoy, it's just easier for us!
  4. We sail in the Haven and I definitely see the value. We usually upgrade to the Premium Plus (I like the Veuve and the 1942, we both love the Aqua Panna and Pelligrino. and DH is a 2-3 day Starbucks guy). And we always upgrade our Wifi, so we can work from the ship. With the shore excursion credit we will come out a bit ahead of what we normally pay. (The only thing we might not use is the extra specialty dining! We get 2 with our booking, 2 for being Platinum and we enjoy a few nights in the Haven Restaurant). Still, for us, it's worth it and are adding it to all our 2023 sailings.
  5. We are looking at booking an HH (Haven family villa suite) for DS, DIL and their 3 littles (oldest is 4). Would the littles be exempt from the open bar gratuities, since they won't be using it? I hate to spend the extra $420, as we are already limited to only booking the HH. (There is a non-Haven family villa option, but it does not have a balcony).
  6. So relieved! Must have been a glitch. Now I can work to finalize travel plans for us. DH wants to head to the Atlantis before the cruise.
  7. Both the Encore and the Epic are not showing available for January. My Epic reservation is still listed on MyNCL, but I'm expecting either an itinerary change or a cancellation. (Hoping for neither! I just want to go!)
  8. Me too! We've had 2 ABC island cruises cancelled and still have yet to get there!
  9. We are booked on the Epic for January of 2023. My reservation still shows up, but I do not see it listed on the website anymore. Could it be a glitch or a sign of something to come?
  10. I was told you have to call and add it (or add it via your travel agent). We just added it to our 3 upcoming bookings.
  11. Typically they offer a 1 bag special (mid-week, maybe?) for just under $30 I believe.
  12. We love Cagney's, especially dining on the waterfront. It's how we spent our 30th anniversary on a recent Panama Canal sailing. 1. Cagney's 2. Food Repblic 3. Teppanyaki 4. Los Lobos 5. Moderno **. Haven restaurant ranks above all for us, but I excluded. it from the list, as you hadn't asked about Haven.
  13. I'm gong to agree with the above recommendations - 1. an easy port to depart from for your group 2. BA/BA+ class 3. Bermuda! (DS and DDIL did this with her family and now we are doing it in May as well. Cruising with a large group has many benefits. Just remember, you won't please everyone all the time. Have fun planning!
  14. We did the Panama Canal on the Bliss in Feb of this year to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We were in a H5 (Haven 2 br with lg. balcony) on the starboard side. The Haven sundeck was a great place to be when going under the Bridge of the Americas. The captain did open the bow for viewing and there were staff giving moist towels. There was also a bar opened, just for the day. Plan to be flexible! Walk, enjoy the waterfront, visit the Haven Observation lounge and the big observation one (lots of seating, good bar and good food. Most of all, have fun!!
  15. We have 34CHO (which I assume is 3rd and 4th guest sale free. (Which is the same as CHO34). We have 2 cabins booked for a family trip and the one with the grandkids has it.
  16. We've been on 3 of the 4 (Escape - 2017, Encore (2022) and Bliss (2022). Booking the Joy (Or the Getaway) for May of 2023. All 3 are special and wonderful. The Waterfront is pure magic for us! All things considered, we loved the Encore the best (although the Bliss is a very close second). Have fun planning your next voyage!
  17. We prefer 2 Havens and will look first at BA/GA, if the dates/itinerary work. But so good to know we have another option, if we can't make the 1st one doesn't work. e.
  18. Thank you @Two Wheels Onlyand @BirdTravels for giving me some options! DS and DDIL have 3 littles, so we are trying to keep them together. So this is very helpful!
  19. Are there any Haven cabins that connect? Especially looking for the BA or BA+ class. We are looking to accommodate 7 people (4 adults and 3 littles) and hoping to connect so we can help with childcare, etc.
  20. We did a Panama Canal cruise on NCL in February. We had one port day in Colon (in addition to our Canal day). Best cruise ever!
  21. We had the same thing on our Feb. 2022 sailing on the Bliss. It was the only port that we lost though!
  22. We were in a similar situation, trying to decide between the Epic and the Encore for January. We love the Encore (and the Breakaway/BA+ class ships), but the Epic won for us this time because of the ABC islands. We opted to base our decision on the ports, instead of the ship. Having 2 additional ports on the Epic is a nice bonus, since all 5 of the ports are places we've never been. (As opposed to our Encore option, which only offered us 2 ports that we haven't visited yet). HTH-
  23. Usually they will put a sticker on your room card for access. We love the thermal spa and always get passes! By day 3 the spa personnel at the front desk on the Encore recognized us and would just wave us in without even looking.
  24. I don't believe so. (Your husband can have access to the cabin using the key, but not the Haven common areas). The Haven staff has pictures (using the key cards) and usually by day 2 they are very familiar with who should be in the common areas. HTH-
