    Hi everyone....

I am currently sailing on Oasis in spite of my own fears. Like most people, I’ve been heavily influenced by the news and considered just canceling and waiting to rebook when the dust settled on CV.... but here I am, along with about 5000 others who made the same call. I often do LIVE reports when I cruise, but decided this time to just open a thread that I’ll update regularly and answer questions.  I’ll answer the first one... I haven’t seen anyone wearing a mask. It looks and feels like any other cruise 👍🏻 I’m glad to finally turn the TV off and live in a news free zone for a week!
Today is the first of 2 days at sea and there’s a deck chair with my name on it 😎

Its not the cruise you need to worry about.  All those thousands of people in the air

port. Or in flight breathing that TOXIC recirculated air for hours on end. That where those virus  hide.  And the CDC is not really sure how long a COVID virus can live on hard surfaces.  So basically,  you may be exposed to it already.  However,  it Covid can incubate for up to 16 days before symptoms come out.

    Enjoy...

I must say I am embarrassed to post this about my own family. Recently off the Indy stepson had purchased unlimited drink package and drink way too much. He must've had over 20 drinks and was clearly obviously way over his limit. I was really happy that the bartender at the bar he frequented stop giving him drinks and only gave him bottled water but my  stepson was able to bypass this by going to different bars to get more drinks. The five other family members on the trip talked to him constantly about how much he was drinking and tried to get him  to stop drinking and it didn’t work.  He drank for all four days of the trip quite frankly he will ruined it for the other five of us. Even went to get services but I knew as an adult he
can do what he wanted to I asked them if they will be able to put an alert on his card for the bartenders to closely chat before they gave him a drink but they said that was something they couldn't do.  I blame nobody but him for his behavior I only hoped that Royal Caribbean would've been able to help a little bit by putting some kind of information on his set and sail pass as not all bartenders where as able as others chanel his really drunk status.  I am sad embarrassed and not happy with him.

He is obviously an alcoholic.  Rather than posting this irrelevant thread.  AS A FAMILY turn your efforts to helping him rather than airing your dirty laundry.  According to what you are saying, you and your family pretty much enabled him.  Send the guy to rehab, CC cant help him.

For what it's worth, I just checked on the day-pass price at the Kalahari water park closest to me, and it's $94.99/person and locker rentals are $25.99.

And that's for an indoor water park without the super-huge slides that they have at Coco Cay.  And food and drinks are extra.

Kalahari only charges for the water park if you are NOT staying at the resort. Otherwise, every room accommodates 4 guests how all get unlimited entry into the waterpark.  The only charge the fee to discourage people from not staying over.  We get deals all the time for Kalahari the 4 of us get the room, access to the park including the day you check out, for about $225-250.

I read, but I don’t know why you are “very very concerned.”  It is quite possible to have a perfect day at Coco Cay without spending a dime! Spending extra on water park,  cocoa beach club, cabanas, zip line, etc is your choice. The pool, the beach, the lagoon, loungers, umbrellas, food and nonalcoholic beverages are all free.

Your title is a bit overkill

    m

Nope, title not overkill. Learned that technique from watching the 💩 news.  They bait you in the headline... the. Talk about other crap.  Works for them.  Now it works for me.

    Its Genius.

Our ship the majesty of the seas was late into port in New Orleans and they said they will give up to $200 a person for ticket changes.   American Airlines wouldn’t let me change my ticket or paid for a change a sit was a web ticket.  I didn’t have insurance.  So I bought new tickets to get back home for more than $500 a person.  Now rccl is saying that American said they honored the tickets and allowed changes so they are paying anything for our tickets.  Anyone else having problems, or was successfully reimbursed?  Thanks, mary

What is a “web” ticket?.  Sounds like you purchased basic economy ticket.  With that fare code. There are NO CHANGES ALLOWED.  You ultimately have to repurchase new tickets like you posted.  Im failing to understand your issue.  Kindly elaborate.

So my mom is freaking out about our cruise on Harmony out of Port Canaveral on March 8 - going to the eastern Caribbean.  She is worried that we will be quarantined as she keeps hearing everything on the news about the people being stuck and unable to get off the ship for a few days/weeks.  I am trying to explain that the boats affected were out of asian cruises and that Harmony has only been to and from US/Caribbean.  Am I wrong?  She purchased the insurance but I'm also trying to explain that she may not get her money back as the insurance is if you get sick and have to cancel - not if you just decide not to go.  Hoping someone can shed light on this.  She needs a break - she has been so stressed out with work etc - but now this is keeping her up at night as she is afraid.  Again I tried to explain that if anything the washy-washy people will be out in full force as they will be hyper vigilant about prevention.  Am I wrong on my points?  Thoughts?  Anyone else freaking out like this?

The rate of infection is .00001 of earths population.  Tell mom to put on her big girl pants, and live her life.  Its here to stay it is a flu variant. just like swine flew was a fake pandemic over 10 years ago.

  7. You know something,  with all the sad crap going on in the world we are all very fortunate to afford share this LUXURY.  Some of you are old school, and like to dress up. And others like me just like to be casual.
This bickering is so silly.  So many others can only dream of having disposable income like we obviously have to take this vacations.  Bottom line is how someone dresses is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

  8. My food taste the same regardless of what I’m wearing.

These days with 50lbs max per suitcase. And airlines charging for everything else. Who needs the hassle of packing dress shoes, suits, dresses, gowns ect. We pack light, not looking to impress anyone. When I’m on vacation. I usually don’t even pack underwear or sock...

Just kidding, I always pack socks...

  9. Will be taking 7 night Cruise on Oasis in Aug.  I have received several emails about pricing on the Voom & Beverage pkg.  for that Sailing wha is my target Price to book it at.  Is there a certain time where the pricing is at its lowest?

Although  the cruise includes a stop at Great Day @ CC.  the price for the water park was shockingly expensive.  However, my kids love waterslides.  Is it worth it?  Please tell me your thoughts.

    thank you guys...

  10. This post has some fundamental issues with the pointing of blame.  When a TA makes a booking,  it is the TA (By contractual obligation) owns the booking.

The TA, not the end passenger would have ZERO direct contact with the cruise line.  Your TA has to have been notified and agreed to this change on the OP’s behalf.

your issue is NOT with RCCL, it is 100% the TA who is to blame.

The newly revitalized Oasis is an awesome ship...your kids will absolutely love it!

We are all so excited. My first Cruise when i was a kid myself... was on the Costa Carla “C” when i was 8.  It was 20,000 tons.  And seemed big to me then.

now going on a ship that is 11x as big.  AMAZING...

Ok great...the rate I posted did not have any discounts (C & A, etc) & is for a Central Park balcony.

Either way, if you happened to purchase  a Central Park Balcony vs a Central Park View, like I mentioned there are 2 sets of connecting cabins available.  (Decks 10 and 12)

If this interests you, call & see if they can switch your cabins.

Have a wonderful time on your cruise!

My Employer uses some gigantic corp travel group??? They had some group rates available that were extremely attractive.  Because its a group rate they told me I cant get the same rates if that particular category was not part of the group they have access to sell??? I did not know it was so complicated.  However, they told me because the sailing is still several months out, things can open up. But i’m satisfied with what we have for now.
My kids are so excited about the waterpark at PD@CC, I was too until i saw the prices, 🤕

Just curious if you booked direct or not?  I have no clue what you paid, but through RCCL’s TA website, I’m showing there’s a group rate for 2 connecting Central Park View Balcony cabins on deck 12.  The 2 cabins are coming in at $5016.16.

I booked through my my employer.  Im paying less then the rate you posted.  Half the amount was in Rccl gift cards.  However, i think its really cool of you to look that up for me.  It is greatly appreciated.

Why is the lack of a connecting door a deal breaker? Do you leave it open all the time? I assume it's closed while people are sleeping? If you don't leave the door open all the time, it's the same as if there was no door. If she's worried about the kids sneaking out, they can sneak out when the door is closed just as easily as they could if there was no door. If you're only worried about access to their room, you'll still have access to their room via the spare key.

was not a DB for me. The wife has concerns after her hotel room was robbed while she attended a conference a few years back. When it comes to staying in hotels she gets a little and understandably over cautious.  But, yes your post is spot on.  I guess it only takes one bad experience to cloud your judgement.
