  1. Last time I looked it was under Dining & Beverage in the Cruise Planner

That is correct. When you make the booking with Cruise Planner you should only specify a single passenger name or the reservation won’t work. The reservation covers up to 4 people.

  2. EXCURSIONS ON SALE?

I received the email as well, which included a sale on some shore excursions as well. But when I clicked on the link, I didn’t see ANY shore excursions on sale. The last time they ran a similar sale the discounted excursions were prominently marked and i was able to cancel an existing booking and rebook at the sale price.

Has anyone else come across this? (Sailing on 4/1 on the Reflection 11 night Ultimate Caribbean Cruise. )

  3. Several years ago we were sailing on the Allure of the Seas on a Sunday. We got a really great price at the Ritz and stayed there for 2 nights before our cruise. On Saturday we were on the pool deck at the hotel which as I recall was about 2 miles from the entrance to Port Everglades We were able to watch the towering Oasis of the Seas leaving the port and got some great photos from a distance. Made us that much more excited to be cruising out on her sister ship the next day. b7c951eec16c1edda5d8d7a188b78d70.jpg

  4. The oft played rerun of the Solstice in Australia will be on Smithsonian Channel, 4:A.M Thursday. Good hours long show. Actually on right now but over in a few minutes. Smithsonian is channel 570 on Direct TV

I can’t find the show in my listings for the A Smithsonian Channel. Are you talking about 4 AM EDT on August 23rd? What is the title of the show?

  5. It is not only the price of the cruise, but if you look at airfares for 2019 to Europe, it is silly expensive! Due to health reasons, we have to book business class. Rethinking our plans unless we can find better airfares.

Airfares to Europe ARE crazy expensive for 2019. We already had a July 7 night Western Mediterranean cruise booked on another cruise line (not anywhere as nice as X), but then we began investigating premium economy flights to Barcelona because of my height. We ended up canceling that cruise.and changed it to an 11 night Southern Caribbean April cruise on the Reflection out of Fort Lauderdale that was less with airfare than the other cruise, and we were able to get a coveted aft veranda to boot. The Mediterranean would have been great, but it will have to be at another time. We’ll still be traveling to 4 of 5 Caribbean ports that we haven’t been to before and have 4-1/2 sea days to enjoy rather than just 1, so we feel like winners in this situation. Enjoy your cruise with whichever decision you make!

  6. Any feedback on this tour sold by RCCL and Celebrity called "Taste of Curacao?" It states your get a driving tour of the island, a market trip, watching cooking, taste of liquer, and then a quick beach break. Curious if anyone else has done it, I didn't see on this forum that it had been mentioned.

We are also interested in this excursion from Celebrity. Does anyone have any feedback on this yet that they could share?

  7. I find it interesting that they told you about the alcohol because it says nothing about it online.

I actually saw it on one of the non-US (Celebrity Australia?) websites and this was also told to me by my Celebrity vacation planner. When I also saw the difference on the website is when I contacted them via Twitter and had the info corroborated.

  8. I did receive clarification from a private message that I sent to @CelebrityCruise on Twitter stating that the Alcove amenities on port and sea days are the same. They also said, “Here is more information on the Alcove amenities: Choice of: Veuve Rose, Grey Goose, or bottle of white wine

    Bucket of 6 assorted beers

    4 Bottles of Evian Ltr

    Butler service (phone available)

    Chilled towels

Complimentary viewing of films of the Lawn Club (if booking on a Taste of Film evening).”

  9. Yes....Start looking the first of September for their 2019 rates...and make your booking as soon as it's available.

Thanks for that info! I just tried to reserve for our April cruise and ran into the same roadblock and ended up booking with points and pay at the Hilton Marina tower building with a port view. I’ll definitely check with valuetrips in September because I’m pretty (99%) sure that the rate would be less, even during peak season, than the Hilton even though I’m using all of my points.

  10. We have about 10 hours to kill before our evening flight out of FLL and I just booked a Day Pass at the Atlantic Hotel on Fort Lauderdale beach through resortforaday. We’re able to use the hotel pool and beach facilities with the pass and get a 20% discount on food, drinks and spa services. You also have access to their sauna, showers and relaxation room. For our ten hour wait, it is perfect, and they’ll also hold your luggage if Luggage Valet from the ship isn’t an option for some reason.

  11. . . . .

I write these reports kind of like a journal for myself to look back on. It will have a lot of details, maybe too much detail in some cases. Just wanted to put this caveat out there.

    Hi Noreen,

Have certainly enjoyed reading your journal of this voyage [emoji568] We’ll be keeping it as a reference since we’re taking the same cruise on April 1 next year. BTW, your photos were just phenomenal too and they’re making me consider getting a DSLR camera before our trip instead of relying on the iPhone.

I might have missed it, but do you recall whether a ship time was set for use in all of the ports, or did you just use the local time in each? If you used ship time, was it set once for the entire trip? I’m trying to set up a calendar of our activities as I book them and the program sets them by local time zone as the default. I would appreciate you clarifying this. Thanks!

  12. Several years ago we had the pure pleasure of having Celebrity’s only female butler for our Aqua Suite on the Reflection. Her service was exemplary, we engaged in many conversations about her home in Istanbul and our home in Michigan. She brought us daily platters of dried fruits and nuts (like it would be served in Turkey) as well as premium cheese and cracker trays. This was in addition to the afternoon tea service. She even selected us as her choice of passengers to go out to the bow of the ship for a private sail away reception with the ship’s officers as we left St. Maarten and headed towards the sunset. Truly outstanding set and we left her with a very generous tip and thank you letter from us. Instead of the standard comment card being filled out, we also wrote a lengthy letter to Celebrity extolling her virtues and great service. If you ever have a female butler and her name is Nala, you will be in great hands and treated like one of her family members. She made our trip!

  13. We were finally able to book our tickets from Detroit-Fort Lauderdale on JetBlue for our April cruise since they opened up their ticket sales through the end of April this past Sunday. Even with booking their Blue Plus fare with Even Bigger Seats, the cost was $240 (for 2) less than Delta’s Comfort+ seats. We also go from a 34” seat pitch to 38”, and each of our first checked bags is included with no additional charge. We’re looking forward to our first JetBlue flights.

  14. I have continued to try to research this, and everything I have found out says that this is a VERY good price for this - far cheaper than you can get on island.

It sounded like a good price. I’m not sure if I was completely clear in my initial posting that what I’m looking for is Duty Free delivery of this to my cruise ship. The price was quoted on their “cruise” site and I wanted to know if anyone used them for this and had a successful delivery to their ship.

  15. There is a cheese plate offered for dessert. Sometimes I order it for an appetizer. On any ship I've ever been on its the most mild assortment of cheeses with no specific flavour or taste, served usually with dried fruit and crackers. There is always a better selection of cheese at the buffet. On other cruises, I've collected my own cheese plate and enjoyed it in the cabin with a glass of wine before dinner.

Thanks! The buffet it will be. I prefer a more flavorful cheese than milds, so making my own plate [emoji893] and having it as an appetizer with a glass of [emoji485] sounds like a great idea.

  16. Sorry to briefly get off the sweet track, but I was wondering if an assortment of cheese [emoji893] is ever offered as a dessert. If so, did you enjoy it? It’s not something I normally order for dessert, but it can be a nice change when one is “over sweetened.”

  17. I just recently had Celebrity match a $375 Big Box Store credit with an OBC of the same amount for not switching my booking by emailing a copy of the online website promotion from the Big Box Store. I think the key was that the “incentive” being matched had to be publicly advertised on a website page. My Celebrity Vacation Planner had to go to her supervisor, but it was approved.
