  1. I've heard of overzealous luggage screeners doing this. That's why I always keep the description from Amazon in the same baggie as the power strip. It's kind of tough to rationalize seizing it then.
  2. Same here. Other times, it did take a little longer.
  3. This is the one I use: Amazon.com: Desktop Power Strip with 3 Outlet 4 USB Ports 4.5A, Flat Plug and 5 ft Long Braided Extension Cords for Cruise Ship Travel Home Office, ETL Listed : Electronics It's similar to post #12. I put it in a gallon size zip lock bag with a printout of the Amazon listing facing out showing it's safe for cruise ships.
  4. You could also use the card to buy drinks for your friends!! 🤑
  5. I've used AARP gift cards with my TA on several cruises. Back when it was a 10% discount, I paid off a $19K cruise using all AARP Gift Cards. That dropped the price of the cruise to $17K - big savings! I put all of the card and pin numbers into the same email and send it to my TA at final payment time. It has never been a problem. Often the AARP member card has the best hotel discount rate, but it isn't always the case. @lennythenose - I respect that you have your reasons for not wanting to join AARP, but would that prevent you from having a friend or family member who is a member buying them for you? When you buy the cards on the web site, since they are "gift" cards, they would only need to put your email address in as the gift recipient, and you get the cards in your email. Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️
  6. I just checked our forecast while we're in Bermuda. Looks like we won't be getting any sunshine there. Some rain and showers but 'considerable cloudiness.' Let's hope that changes...
  7. We usually 'watch" the video on our cabin TV as we're enjoying cocktails on our balcony...😉
  8. I just got an email saying I had to watch the safety video within 72 hours of embarkation. I clicked on the link in the email and watched the video. How does O know we watched it? There was nothing to identify us.
  9. You certainly know what you're saying, I just got an email saying we've been moved over to Pier 90. 👍
  10. So, I would need to collect my refundable OBC while I'm still onboard? (If I don't want it being routed to me through my TA?)
  11. On a previous post, (possibly on a different thread), I was left with the impression that OBC on Oceania isn't refundable. I can understand some OBC is nonrefundable, such as shareholder OBC, but I have more than $500 in OBC from my TA. If I don't spend that, will I get that money refunded? TIA
  12. I found what you are looking at. I think that's an outdated page. If you click on the blue "Princess Captain's Circle" in the first sentence on that page, it takes you to the pages I was referencing.
  13. I'd be interested in knowing where you found that on Princess.com. The only thing I can find now is this page : Captain Circle : Membership Benefits (princess.com) on that page, there is a link to the PDF I cited in my response and that's right off this page and it clearly says: View the full list of benefits our guests enjoy! (PDF). On my last sailing out of Port Everglades last February, everybody kept walking past the area that used to be the Platinum/Elite Priority Boarding Lounge and even the chairs had been removed. The place was empty. As an aside, I always thought using that lounge was the best benefit I had being at the Platinum level.
  14. I don't think that's true anymore. Elite gets priority embarkation for tenders and priority disembarkation, but the Platinum Elite priority boarding lounge is now a thing of the past. It really doesn't matter as embarkation for everybody is much faster than before. Here's the current Captain Circle benefits listing from the website: @startedwithamouse posted the same thing in an earlier post. captains-circle-loyalty-benefits (1).pdf
  15. Ruby gets you this: Princess Platinum Vacation Protection upgrade – 100% cancellation benefit – Double accident & sickness benefits – Expanded medical expenses & evacuation coverage. If you complete one or two more cruises, you will be at Platinum level. There is no longer early/priority boarding for any level. Since embarkation goes so swiftly, it's not considered to be needed.
  16. Do you know if Manhattan Cruise Terminal has Global Entry?
  17. I looked at some, but the ones I saw were all one-way sailings. Flying to or from cruise one-way locations really ups the price of the airfare, so I figured what I would save on the cruise fare would get eaten up by the airfare.
  18. I am sailing from Pier 88 in NYC. Norwegian Breakaway is sailing from Pier 88 the same day as us in Oceania Insignia. Does anyone have experience in Pier 88 when two different ships are sailing? Are the passengers for both ships combined for security etc. or are we segregated from the moment we enter the terminal? One of the reasons we booked a smaller cruise ship holding 670 passengers was so we wouldn't be facing long lines at embarkation. Breakaway has close to 4,000 passengers.
  19. Thank you. DW has a lot of reading to do this afternoon...😁
  20. Am I to understand that there is not an upcharge/cover charge for dining in Polo or Toscana (after using up the guaranteed reservations that came with the booking)? Does this mean having the butler serve dinner from Polo in our suite does not come at an additional charge?
  21. We are getting two complimentary specialty dining availabilities. If we were to request an in-suite dinner from Polo Grill, would we be able to use our complimentary booking for Polo for the in-suite experience?
  22. I actually noticed you were on that roll call. Do you think you could help out @yogagal47 ? She doesn't sail until January and wants to see some Currents so she can pick her dinner times in advance. I presume she's looking to book her specialty dining times. Thanx.
