  1. I purchased Cheers and FTTF through the website using Verizon Gift Cards.

I had my travel agent pay off our cruise (with Verizon GCs) through their "portal." (she gets credit for the sale that way).

If you purchased the cruise on your own, the website should be fine although the people at their 800 number are nice and shouldn't have any problem doing it for you.

  2. Be prepared for a final statement that is many pages long - so brief heart attack when you see size of the statement, but relaxation when you see the little number at the end. Every single "purchase" is listed with a price of $0.00, unless you are in port and then you have to pay the taxes or added tip and it also shows which folio number on your account made the purchase.

I added up all the purchases after our last cruise and we most definitely came out ahead using the Cheers package. We also take advantage of it for the nicer hot teas, fancy coffees, smoothies, soda, etc. So while those are unlimited, if one does not have Cheers, you would end up paying for all of those too. While we hate the upfront price - it does make for a nicer cruise experience and no worrying about the S&S bill.

Ours always seems to update immediately and as pointed out app, TV, and kiosk will have all of that information 24/7 for you to check too.

Perfect. I'll have to keep track of the "real" prices myself. Cool beans. I know we will come out ahead - between the regular drinks and the alcohol. I plan on posting the results as a PSA when we get back. Thanks!

  3. I'm actually not worried about it "charging" me when it should be "free." With all the post asking if Cheers is worth it, I'm just curious as to if we end up saving money for buying Cheers as opposed to paying per drink. Plus, I could post the exact numbers when we get back to show the savings (or loss). TBH, we aren't concerned about coming out ahead, this is a second honeymoon trip so the alcohol (and everything else) will definitely be flowing!

  4. Is there a way to see a list of what we were "charged" for on our Cheers account at the end of the day? Want to make sure we weren't "charged" for something we didn't drink of course.

If so, will the prices of each drink be on that list so we can see what we would have spent?

  5. We'll be on the Magic -March of 2019.

I'm a Tequila and Bourbon guy so I have my favorites. But that doesn't mean I won't try some others. That is the one huge thing we like about Cheers - being able to try something and if we don't like it, no big loss; we'll just try something else.

Didn't know about the Champagne in the Steakhouse so that is a definite. And of course, a shot of something in my morning coffee is never a bad thing.

  6. This is NOT a Cheers question. The last Cheers thread had people who were slightly irked because there was ... another... Cheers thread. I actually learned a couple of things on that one that I hadn't on the "hundreds of thousands" before. There is a $20.00 glass of champagne (Heidsieck Rose Champagne) in the steakhouse. AND...the bar at the Steakhouse is open for everyone during Steakhouse hours but hardly anyone uses it.

So...this thread. What non-mixed drink, regardless of cost, is your favorite? What non-mixed drink would you recommend to someone who wants to experiment with different drinks. Have you made something (certain shake or... with a shot of ____) that was amazing and you want to share with everyone? And, where have you found the least-busy bar?

  7. I've never eaten at the Golden Corral and you guys are making me feel very left out lol...I don't think we have them in So Cal and if we do not near me...like Crackle Barrel...we don't have those either...but I guess maybe In N Out makes up for it...I couldn't say lol....

We both know that there aren't many places better than In N Out.

  8. Were any of those top shelf drinks even close to $50? Outside of a cognac at the steakhouse, I've not seen anything close to $50 onboard at any of the bars.

I read somewhere on CC where there was mention of a $40.00 (or $50.00) glass of champagne in The Steakhouse.

If it exists, I will find it. LOL.

  9. I'm reading Jammin54's Elation review (fantastic by the way!) and saw a picture which brings me to my question. It's post #685 on page 35 of the review.

On the Elation outside of Tiffany's Restaurant (Lido Deck 10 Aft), is an area with tables and chairs that looks great for sailaway.

Is there somewhere on the Magic like this?

  10. We booked the Magic for March 2019 a couple of months ago. Obviously, it was too soon to do anything on the Carnival site. I did email the Steakhouse with my reservation request and received a confirmation within two days. I'm sure it will show up as we get closer but if not, I'll have a copy of the email with me.

  11. This is on the Carnival website regarding the MDR Dress Code. I guess it's how you define "Dress Code." DH usually wears dockers or casual pants on most nights, with a casual collared shirt or nice polo, and on Elegant nights a suit & tie or sport coat. To each his own I suppose. Today it's "wear what you want".

    Main Dining Room(s)

Following is the dress code in the Main Dining Room(s) for both men and women and pertains to children as well:

    Cruise Casual Dress Code

    • Men: sport slacks, khakis, Jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long) and collared polo shirts
    • Women: summer dresses, casual skirts, pants, capris, dress shorts, Jeans (no cut-offs) blouses and tops
    • Not permitted: Cut-off Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, tee-shirts, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire

    Cruise Elegant Dress Code

    • Men: dress slacks, dress shirts, and we also suggest a sport coat; men may also wish to wear a suit and tie or tuxedo
    • Women: Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; ladies may also wish to wear an evening gown
    • Not permitted: Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, shorts, tee-shirts, sportswear, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire

The assumption then is that Carnival doesn't enforce this. Once you go down the rabbit hole by letting one or two people slip by, it's hard to start enforcing the rules. Personally, I'd l think no t-shirts - there are some nice, stylish, plain t-shirts out there - in the dining room is extreme (Cruise Casual) but I can agree with the rest.

  12. Yup, just walk by the curb side check in for bags, then your bags will be scanned at the x Ray machine (double check they will fit) aling with everyone else's carry on. Then just hang into your bags until you can get to your room.

Dolce. Since we have FTTF, sounds like the plan.

    Thanks!
