  1. Absolutely, if your larger bag fits through the scanner. Exact maximum dimensions are on Carnival's web site.

So we'd just keep our bags with us, go through the luggage "section" at the debarkation section of the terminal and they'll scan the bags and then we'll continue on our way with them?

  2. #1 - DO NOT think about it in terms of how many ALCOHOLIC drinks you need to have to break even. Do consider water, specialty coffee, milkshakes, etc. as part of your package.

#2 - Do not consider "breaking even" as the only perk. I enjoyed a) trying new drinks and not feeling like it was a waste if I didn't like them b) ordering a new drink if my frozen drink had melted down (didn't feel obligated to finish a watery drink) c) not being surprised at the end of the cruise by my bill d) paying for it in advance by ordering Cheers online and by the way ordering ahead of time cut our daily costs down per day because they offer a discount if purchased before boarding, plus we used the pre-purchased discounted gift card so our total cost was less than what is advertised. e) no need to check my sail and sign card daily and feel obligated to keep my costs down

    ^ This. X 1000.

We are both getting it. No idea how much alcohol we will drink. We don't really care. We know we'll be drinking anything and everything (non-alcohol and alcohol) that we want so it really doesn't matter. I especially agree with not having to deal with melted-down frozen drinks and trying things we have no idea if we like or not. Drinks will be cold and plentiful. We are on vacation. We plan to enjoy it.

  3. Instead of starting a new thread, I'll ask here. Wife and I will be cruising. FTTF. We have to fly to Miami. Once we get to the port, we can each "wheel" our large suitcase (that we checked on the plane) and carry on our smaller bag (carry-on) to our room after we check in - since our room will be ready - and then off to eat or whatever? We don't need or have to use the porters at all? And then the same when we get back (debarkation)? This is correct?

  4. You can check in at any time you like but you still have to pick a time.

Remember there is a difference between a "check in time" and the time you actually board the ship.

Only 1 person in each cabin needs to buy FTTF and then the whole cabin can use it.

  5. I forgot I left this post earlier. It's been a nightmare the last few hours dealing with this. There is no edit button for me to click on like there is on my Cheers package. I managed to contact Carnival and after a lot of frustrating back and forth, they finally admit that my FTTF (which was bought 2 months ago) wasn't even in their system to begin with!! Gah.

They admit they couldn't even cancel for a refund because there's actually no record of it existing in the first place! So WHY the heck were they appeasing me for the last 3 weeks saying they're "working on updating my boarding pass and luggage tags" when in fact no one was doing ANYTHING because my FTTF didn't even exist on their end?!

What they now requested this afternoon was my e mail confirmation of purchase (which thank God I saved), plus the last 4 digits of my debit card used, PLUS a screen shot of my bank statement showing proof that I purchased it.

It's now become a chicken or egg thing where they have to find out IF the FTTF purchase actually exists before cancelling and refunding it. Wow.

To say this has been frustrating is an understatement. After sending them all that proof, they wrote back to wait another "couple of days" while they try and FIND the FTTF purchase in their system.

You know, i'm perfectly fine and understanding with glitches...it happens. But for the past 3 weeks, they've apparently been lying just to appease and shut me up about this whole thing. It leaves a really bad taste and reflection on Carnival with me. Had they originally said, "Hey, we don't see you bought FTTF, can you send us the documentation of purchase?", I would've gladly supplied it without fuss.

But to continually be evasive and lie that it's being taken care of when in fact it's not, is just wrong. Sorry to vent all this out, but i'm extremely dissappointed with how this was handled. :(

Not to be overly simplistic about this but...were you actually charged for it (saw where the charge was processed) and if so, did you get a confirmation email?

  6. It should be under the "My Billing" tab, scroll down and you should see a "My Orders" section.

    Found "My Orders" (thanks!)

But nothing there. I'll give it another week or so and if it doesn't list them, I'll email them.

(and of course, taking my receipts but I'd still like to see it there)

  7. I hope you realize that bottled water is now included in the Cheers package.

Oh yes. We do. We drink a lot of water. A LOT of water. Keep those for the room (and RTICS when we leave the room) and then drink all the other stuff throughout the day.

$4.50 is well worth not having to worry about making sure we carry a few bottles to the room at the end of every night.

  8. I cannot advise you about Cheers but we've purchased water and it shows up under your Cruise Manager, "Cruise Details" if you scroll down to "My Orders."

Edit: Worst case, print out the email(s) and take them with you in case there are any issues when you board.

Don't see a "My Orders." Is it one of the tabs "My Activities" "My Guest" "My Billing" etc? I have those but nothing about Orders.

I do plan on taking copies of all the confirmation emails to prevent any problems but just really wondered if it was there and where.

  9. We purchased the Cheers Package (2) and a case of water. I have the confirmation email of the purchase but don't see it anywhere on the Carnival website when I log in to see my account. It has my cruise info of course but nothing about the other.

    Am I supposed to or....?

  10. Just one article:

Carnival Corp. Chairman Micky Arison pledged an immediate donation of $2.5 million to relief charities from his family’s foundation, according to a news release.

In addition, the company’s philanthropic Carnival Foundation and the Miami Heat Charitable Fund (Arison owns the Miami basketball team) pledged to raise a combined $5 million for relief and recovery efforts after Hurricane Irma — and Arison’s family foundation will match that amount too. The company owns Carnival, Holland America, Princess, Costa and other lines.

Also, Carnival’s cruises over the next several weeks will be bringing much-needed items — water, food, clothing, toiletries and medical supplies — directly or indirectly to destinations wrecked by Irma, including Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos, St. Martin, St. Thomas and Barbuda in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

  11. Please let us know how you end up. We are getting the Cheers package and certainly don't accept the 15 a day (alcohol) as a challenge but it's nice knowing we can try different things and if we don't like them, we try something else.

Plus the coffee, water, sodas, etc.

Did that amount include sodas, coffees, bottled waters and such? I am not looking at Cheers as just an alcohol package, I look at it as a drink package. My husband will not drink a lot of alcohol, just a couple of frozen or mixed drinks a day, but he will have a several powerade type drinks, bottled waters and sodas. Bottled teas and coffees too I'm sure. We are going to try it for the first time next month and see how the numbers add up for us also.
  12. This is spot on. "Also, Cheers let's you try out things you might not otherwise get."

Try a different wine than usual. Don't like it? No big deal. Same with mixed drinks. I've never had a Moscow Mule or a Martini. We're getting the Cheers package and you can bet I'll be trying them. Personally, I'm a tequila fan. Unfortunately, we don't have Tequila bars here. You know I'll make up for that on the ship. Plus, again, shakes, coffees, sodas, Pelligrino at dinner, etc.

This is great advice. If you drink those things, it can add up. For me, one key things is, how much will I get off the ship at ports? If I'm spending all day at 4 ports on a 7 day cruise, it might not be worth it. Also, Cheers let's you try out things you might not otherwise get.

I'm not a cheers fan boy. I get it maybe 25% of the time. But have never regretted it.

  13. It's called the rules. If you don't like them, don't go.

    This ^

Seriously though, rules are put in place for a reason. Carnival wants to keep a bit of the "class" during certain times. My parents use to lament how things have changed - flying for example: People also "dressed up" to fly somewhere. Now people wear their pajamas on the plane?

Would I prefer to wear flip-flops and shorts 24/7? Hell yeah.

It bothers me more that people say, "I knows those are the rules but I'm not going to follow them and if I get called out for it, I'll complain because I think those rules are stupid" than dressing a little nicer for a couple of hours a day - once or twice a year. Especially if those are rules.
