  1. Does every CP balcony room get these amenities or are they available ONLY if you upgrade from an OV? The flyer was a bit confusing to me.

My mom and aunt have a CP balcony booked on Oasis through Costco. They get one specialty dinner for 4, one lunch at Johnny Rockets for 4, soda package, cupcake class and $25 credit towards drinks (plus a Costco gift card). It was a great deal, so not complaining at all. Just wondering about the wine.

These are the EXTRA perks offered through this TA, we are soon sailing in a CP through them and also received these. Yes, these are a great deal!

And to agree with other posters, yes the 3 listed perks (wine, lunch, casino lesson) come with every CP cabin.

  2. Melia is farther away from the port and ship so gives you a much nicer island/beach setting. It’s so easy and fun to take the #10 bus to get there also.

My vote would be Melia - planning to go back when we cruise in September!

  3. We’ve stayed at El Convento and enjoyed it there. On one trip we did an evening/night tour, sorry can’t remember the name but if interested I’m sure you could search for it. And yes, taxi to ship-right outside hotel.

Enjoy your stay in SJ and the cruise.

  4. Have tried MTD twice and changed back to traditional after the first night.

Curious as to how long ago and what ship you’ve done this on?

I always thought once you had MTD you couldn’t switch back to traditional.

I think there are more spots now for MTD than traditional because my past few cruises I’ve had to take MTD. We prefer traditional for the reasons others state - to dine with others.

  5. I was under the impression that a ‘hack’ was referring to the use of something in a different way than it was intended.

I see this as different than a tip — nothing to do with computers or referring to an old person. LOL [emoji38]

  6. We’ve stayed there before and are staying again this September. A nice Hampton and the free transportation from airport and to cruise port is a plus.

We don’t have a lot of time to “tourist” the day/evening before our cruise, so it works well for our needs.

I always keep checking their price online and have rebooked when it has come down.

  7. We didn’t remember the ‘within 30 days of booking’ rule and have missed that point.

Has anyone ever been able to redeem after that point?

Or... my brother/wife just booked, would we be able to redeem it for them?

  8. We’ve stayed at Hampton Inn, Plantation for one night before cruising from FLL. It’s a very nice area - not a jumping hotspot; very reasonably priced. There are other hotels in this area as well. They offer complimentary transportation from airport to hotel as well as from hotel to cruise port. Just a suggestion for an area.
