  1. I got an email from our CVP expressing his sympathy because we had to cancel our May 1 cruise from Honolulu, last Friday since DH had to have emergency surgery.  So nice of him since he was losing his commission and still thinking of our disappointment.

  2. Aqua definitely.  How far away is this cruise?  if you could get 3 of the stern cabins on deck 11, it would be fabulous.  These go quickly and there are only 5 of them.  You also get 2 extra loyalty points/day if you choose AQ over a regular balcony.  Enjoy your cruise.

Guest relations just left our cabin to hear for themselves. They definitely confirmed we have a problem. Waiting to see what happens next.

Great to hear.  i hope they can successfully fix it for you so you can enjoy the rest of your cruise.  BTW, I was just going to post the reason I thought you were not giving out your cabin number but you beat me to it.  i'm sure you'll give it when you are off the ship.

  4. I am so sorry your first post on Cruise Critic is about a nightmare.  You sure did get the runaround.  I hope your cruise to Scandanavia makes up for it.

We have sailed on many cruises and we have never booked airfare with the cruiseline.  We prefer to make our own arrangements for flights.

Welcome to Cruise Critic and all the best to you on future cruises and posts on here.

  5. We've enjoyed the helipad a few times too.  The best one was out of Bermuda.  However, for the Panama Canal, I think a stern cabin beats the helipad hands down.  No crowding, people pushing in front of you, and when you get too hot, you can just step into the cabin and cool off.  We really enjoyed watching the ship behind us and seeing the gates open and close and the water rising etc.

  6. We have booked Kobe to Singapore in May 2025. We have never been to Vietnam and I just have to see Halong Bay and also the Golden Bridge (held up by huge hands) in Hue (Da Nang).

Jelaine beat me to it with her advice re Singapore.  I also say, if you can afford the time, stay at least 3 days there before or after the cruise.  Take the cable car to Sentosa too.  Singapore is clean, orderly and beautiful.  DH used to work there and I never had a moment's worry about my safety sightseeing.  The gardens are lovely too.  I hope you find a cruise you like.  Ours is Azamara BTW.

  7. We are on Edge in May, Honolulu to Vancouver.  Yes we are disappointed with the change in the itinerary but it's not Celebrity's fault.  We initially had 2 days in Honolulu and Lahaina, of course.  Now, we have basically nothing in Honolulu since we have dropped one day and sail at midnight on the second day.  We have an overnight in Hilo.

Sailing at midnight will give us time to fly in from Kauai where we will stay 12 days in our timeshare at the Marriott Nawilliwilli bay.  We used to fly home from the Marriott getting on the plane at 10PM to fly to SFO and then on to Vancouver.  I hated that.  It is so much nicer to sail home, even if we miss some of our favorite ports.

BTW, we have a picture of Summit docked in Nawilliwilli bay.  Celebrity used to come there until NCL took over the port with several ships docking there.  They have never come back, even though NCL only has the one ship there doing the 7 day island cruises.

  8. This is an interesting thread, Beth and Bailey.  I don't have any advice since I am not a quilter, but I wonder since you are from Kentucky, if you have been to the quilting museum in Paduca?  I'm sure you have.  I thought it was amazing.

I used to take my cross stitch, hardanger and stumpwork (nothing to do with trees or bandsaws😂!) on cruises and found it enjoyable, so I hope you get a solution to your dilemma.

BTW, the Silhouette is a wonderful ship.
