  1. On the 5 day Eastern Caribbean/Royal Princess from 11/25-11/30/17. Does anyone know what night will be formal night in the dining rooms?

Also, any info on the Royal would be great. Been on Emerald, Crown, and Sapphire.

It could be on the first sea day 11/26/17 or the second sea day 11/28/17 as we go from Amber Cove to Princess Cay?

Check on the Roll Call for this cruise. Someone may have heard something and could also provide some info on the Royal.

    See you at the M&G.

  2. Hi Everyone,

I'm Dave and will be on the Royal for a 5 day Caribbean out of FFL on Nov. 25th. This will be my 5th cruise but my first "Solo". I came across a great deal for a balcony and could not pass it up. My wife is a manager in retail and this is the start of the xmas season sales and she could not take the time off. I could not get anyone else to take some time off to do this cruise.

I myself just retired in July after 40 years as a Mechanic, Fleet Supervisor, Fire Equipment Mechanic ("We might not be the Pride, but without us the Pride don't ride") and I am making up for missed vacations. I do enjoy my Scotch and every now and then a cigar.

I am looking forward to doing this cruise and meeting new people along the way. My wife says I can talk to anybody about anything.

I have been involved with the Roll Call and helping with a slot pull the first sea day along with a M&G. I may be suggesting a Cabin Crawl at the M&G. I have not been on a Royal class ship and would like to see what other cabin layouts are like.

  3. Wait what? The fettuccine Alfredo in the parm bowl is gone? This is a practical joke right?

The cheese bowl was my wife's favorite part of the dish. She was disappointed when she ordered the Alfredo on the Island Princess back in Sept. that the bowl was missing. It didn't keep her from eating the pasta.

P.S. I am now required to make the same cheese bowl for her when I make an Alfredo dish at home.

    Thanks Princess!

  4. We did the upgrade on our last cruise. Other then the location change the upgrade was not worth the additional cost. The two half bottles of wine did not get opened and are now sitting on the bar to be opened at a later date. The priority boarding did not matter being the lines were moving fast and the CC dinning was not used being we had chose the assigned time and liked the group at our table. If it was a Mini Suite upgrade as I have had in the pass I would take it with no reservations.

  5. We have sailed on the Crown in 1/15 and 1/16 and found staff friendly and at times more then very helpful. The ship was clean as was the stateroom. Seems like some people will find issues with everything. So you see some rust? Your on a ship that is in the ocean 365 days a year. We had crews cleaning and painting something at every port we stopped at.

  6. I have played on the Crown and Ruby (no table on the Island) and they did not have any double odds. But I still walked away with more than what I brought to the table. Only thing I found was that the same people seem to play when the table was open. I normally don't throw the dice being I am a "wrong" player but I had to change up my game when I had the dice.

  7. I have a question about the casino on the Royal Princess. Does the casino have a Craps table?

I just came off of the Island Princess in Sept. and it did not have a table. Craps is my preferred game and really missed not being able to throw the dice.

I enjoy playing the Dark Side of the game

I have a cruise coming up in November and I'm trying to plan my sea days.

    Any information would be helpful.

  8. The Crystal Serenity and Carnival Conquest still show GC on the their itinerary and they are both docking on the 22nd.

Also the following is being written about recovery and bringing back the ships.

  9. Just did my booking at the reduced rate. Got a balcony for $98 x 2 being I will be solo on this cruise. I do not think this is any casino special being the staterooms are forward or aft and I don't gamble that much. I only needed to log on to see the pricing.

Thanks Shelly97060 for the heads-up on the pricing.

  10. I just came off the Island Princess (9/20/17-9/23/17) and where I find issue with refilling bottles is not with the drinking water dispenser but rather the coffee, ice tea,and "Hot Water" dispensers. The drinking water dispensers have a nozzle guard so that you can not get the lip of a bottle close enough to touch the nozzle when refilling without really trying.

The coffee, ice tea, and hot water dispensers have no guard to protect the 3" spigot nozzle. What I saw was person after person filling thermos bottles with hot water. In a few cases they would fill the bottle and take a drink and then top off. While filling, the spigot nozzle would be in contact with the bottle lip. This lip just came from the persons mouth.

There was a sign on the water/ice dispensers saying you could not fill any bottles but nothing at the coffee spigots. On my first cruise on the Crown I was told not to fill my own large coffee mug at the spigot by a crew member. I used the provided coffee cups instead.

  11. The "Club Class" is the only way you can book a mini-suite in the mid-ship section.

Before the CC you could make this booking at a slightly higher price but now depending on the cruise length the extra cost in my opinion is not worth the benefits. Being able to walk in and get a table at ATD in a special section is not something I would pay extra for. We use to do ATD but now only do the assigned dining time (late seating). Getting on or off the ship has never been an issue so again not worth the extra cost.

Now with that said I will add that I did take a CC upgrade for $30.00 on my upcoming Sept 20th cruise only for the mid-ship mini-suite. I had a M/S in the forward section but for the price of the upgrade it was worth moving.

  12. Hello, I thought I might order a tray of canapes to enjoy with wine on our balcony. Has anyone ordered any and which one did you enjoy? What kind of crackers do they supply for the cheese plate? Crummy saltines?

Thanks for any info you may have

We ordered the canapés to have before dinner each night and always enjoyed them. I also preorder a cheese and cracker plate for sea days. Saves me the trip to the buffet to load up a plate.

  13. Welcome to Cruise Critic.

While you might get the answer to your question on this board since it is a Princess specific question you might want to ask this on the Princess cruise Line Board at:

I asked on Princess Board and got my answer. No Craps table on the Island Princess. What a shame. :(

  14. Craps is our game too. And nope, No craps table. There's literally no room to put one. Only a few table games - one roulette, two or three poker tables and the rest slots. And those poker tables are crammed in there, one against the wall where you're literally leaning back against the wall in your seat.. Very small, it's a third the size it used to be. After one night, with no craps but very good at roulette table actually - we were done, couldn't take the crowding or claustrophobic feeling in there. We found other things to occupy our time. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. Looks like a game changer for me. I'll just take a drive to Las Vegas after we get back from the cruise to get my Craps fix.

  15. I have a question about the casino on the Island Princess. I had read an old review that the Craps table was removed from the casino after the retrofit in 2015. The casino had lost some footage. I have not seen anything else written about this.

Craps is my preferred game and I wanted to ask if anybody has sailed on the Island Princess lately knows if the Craps table is in the casino or not? I have a cruise later this month and I'm trying to plan my sea days.

    Any information would be helpful.
