  1. I am also on the same Wednesday cruise as the OP. We had 3 inches of snow last night, here in the Detroit area, and it is SNOWING now, with another 6-8 inches expected by Monday morning. All flights out of DTW, to FLL, this morning have left on time, but most of those originate here in Detroit (lucky us, as we do not normally have to make connections). Our big concern is that we leave Tuesday morning and the temp then is supposed to be about -14 (F). We may go stay at an airport hotel Monday night.

  2. I use a C-PAP and have taken it on many cruises and international trips. I just keep a 12 foot extension chord in the C-PAP case. I once asked for a chord on a cruise ship and they gave me a 6 foot long chord that would not reach any plug. On Princess, I usually curl up the chord and put it in the nightstand during the day. Go to cruise personalizer and request enough distilled water for your cruise, if you wish. You should receive a response that it will be waiting for you in the room, although ship tap water is fine.

  3. To ME, the extra cost of a balcony is not worth it, as we were usually off the ship very early in each port. Sailing through the Stockholm archipelago is beautiful, but I do not believe that all ships dock in downtown Stockholm. Ours did (we were on a smaller HAL ship), but we met Princess cruisers in town who had docked a distance away and then had to take a train into Stockholm. I also think that if you are seeing the sites from your balcony, you are missing whatever is on the other side of the ship.

  4. The Fort Lauderdale terminal is at Port Everglades. It is about a 10 minute taxi ride to FLL airport. There are several rental car places near to the terminal. I believe they have a shuttle pick up, at the ship, if you have a reservation. I do not know about a drop off at the Miami port. We use Budget rental car office on 17th street causeway. It is 5 minutes from the ship, and they have a shuttle.

  5. We just walk off the ship and go to the OFFICIAL taxi stand and tell them where we want to go (Valley Church Beach). It is about $14 pp each way, maybe a little less if there are more than 2 couples sharing the van. They will quote you a higher price, but that is IF it is for one couple. They normally will pair people up in groups.

  6. I neither gamble or smoke (yeah for ME!!!!) although I do have some other issues. Anyway, I really dislike even walking through the casino to other venues, so I try to avoid doing so. However, I have noticed that on non smoking nights, the casino appears to be much more crowded than on other evenings. If this is so, I wonder why they do not just make it non smoking to enhance their revenue.

  7. We will be staying at Hotel Christian IV, and are considering buying tickets to a concert for Thursday night, June 6, at Parken Stadium. We are concerned about transportation both to and from the concert. Suggestions are welcome concerning taxi, bus, or maybe even walking. Is it "safe" to walk in those areas late at night? Would taxi or bus be difficult after the concert, considering thousands of people leaving the stadium. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

  8. We will be in Honningsvag on Wednesday, June 12. We had planned to take ship's excursion to North Cape, but after hearing from so many who went there and saw nothing but fog, we are re-considering. RCCL also offers a tour entitled "Small Fishing Village and Christmas House", which goes to village of Skarsvaag (?). I would like advice/thoughts/info from any of you who may have done either of these excursions. We do not normally do ship's excursions, but that seems the best way to go in that port. We do not want to rent a car. Thank you for any help you may offer.

  9. IF you like to do some things on your own, buy Rick Steve's travel book on Scandinavia. He gives time saving, and money saving, ways to tour most of your stops. We wear ECCO walking shoes. IF YOUR SHIP DOCKS IN WARNEMUNDE (for Berlin) be on top deck at sailaway. We were told to do this and we did. AMAZING. As we sailed away down the river, people came out of the on shore bars to wave at us, horns were blowing, fireworks were lighting the sky. I do not know if this happens every time, but most people missed it because they were tired from their day in Berlin, and turned in early. The Baltic was our first European cruise experience, and got us hooked. We have been able to do several other European cruises, and this summer are doing Norway. Enjoy.

  10. We have been to eagle Beach twice, and will return there in December. You just walk out of the terminal and go across the street to the public bus station. I think it is bus #1. Costs maybe $1.50 each way. It takes maybe 15 minutes, but have correct change. Tell driver you would like to go to Amsterdam Manor Hotel. Beach, and rental chairs, are right there on the beach. There is some natural shade and some palapas. Chairs are not as cheap as some other islands, but neither is Aruba. HINT: We thought the beers at the beach bar were expensive, but you can walk over to the hotel gift shop and buy beers for much less. Get there by 10, or so, for a place under natural shade.

  11. We will be docking at Crown Bay and plan to take the water taxi over to Water Island (Honeymoon Beach). On YOUTUBE, it shows that there are places to get food and drinks, but people have said "no" there is not. Has anyone been there recently and can answer this?? We will be there on a Friday in about 3 weeks.

  12. We will be there on HAL Zuiderdam, November 20. We have contracted with a private guide. He is picking us up at 8:00, taking us to visit the park and ride the tram, touring the area, stopping for lunch, and should be back to the ship by about 3:00. I will do a review when I return in early December

  13. We also did not want to go into Rome, as we had been there several days before our cruise. One time we walked to the train station (10 minutes) and found a local bus that did a BIG circle route through the neighborhoods, high up into the hills, and then returned to the train station. A very fun "tour" riding with the locals, and only 1 Euro each. You can also take a bus to the very pleasant walled city of Taormina, about 20 minues away. Nice place to stroll and have lunch. OR just stroll through Civitavecchia, stopping for gelatos along the way. We found all of these enjoyable on different days. Enjoy.

  14. We have done 9 cruises on other lines, but are considering Norwegian Majesty to Bermuda, out of Baltimore. We did this cruise several years ago on Celebrity's Horizon, an older, smaller ship and had a great time. BUT, the cabin size on Majesty looks extremely small. It says insides are 108 sq feet and many outsides are about 145 sq feet. For those that have done this ship, is there anyplace to hang clothes or put them in drawers? From reading reviews, it seems like people either love this ship or hate it. Any comments/advice/recommendations are welcome. Thank you.

  15. We did the Baltic on Hal this past August. We were ready to do a Value Tour, but then joined a group with Red October. We, too, had heard all of the stories regarding a "troubled" disembarkation, but had no trouble at all. We, and others, assembled our groups by the gangway, and as soon as ship cleared, we walked off, met our guides, and were on our way. I do not think the ship really cares which company you go with, although the corporate office may. Our tour was fascinating for 2 days, and we received everything we were promised.
