  1. They provide a bottle opener. If I recall, it’s Dos Equis beer. Not sure you have a choice on that.

You can exchange it for other beers like Budweiser or Heineken etc. As stated previously, you can exchange any liquor / beer for another liquor / beer one for one basis

  2. I am currently on board the CB and there is definite advertising regarding obtaining double credit if booking on board. No specific cruises are listed. I just bought some FCC's and not interested in booking anything at this time.

I just got off the 18 Aug - 25 Aug cruise. I saw the double credit offer , but as others have said, it is limited to Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises.

  3. Does Princess offer a transfer from Ft Lauderdale cruiseport to Miami Intl airport and if so can it be booked onboard

I am flying into and out of Miami for my upcoming CB cruise . I am using a transfer ($29) to the port , but I am taking a Princess excursion that will take me back to the airport. The cost seems reasonable to me as it includes an airboat ride .

  4. Is this based on personal experience, or just made up?

While they may be improving, I haven't seen (m)any posts saying the medallions worked quite well.

Perhaps you can provide links to a few posts from actual users describing their success with medallion

in their purse or fanny pack.

I have actual experience with it and it does work (11 March 2018 - Regal Princess - Lido Deck Cabin ) . You can leave it in your pocket and they can see you on their terminal . I remember sitting at the bar and seeing people’s faces come up as they walked by. Apparently when you want something they push on your face and the folio as well as Captains Circle info comes up and that is what they use to complete your purchase .

When I was on board I actually asked them to use that instead of the card . They liked using the card only because that is what they were used and most passengers still had to use the card .

I guess I took my “role” as “test pilot” more seriously lol .

  5. I believe that on some of the early cruises they sent out the bands . but by the time of my cruise in March they only sent the lanyard with the plastic holder. I posted pictures of the band , lanyard / holder and cruise card I used. I was not a fan of the lanyard at all and that is why I got the band, but in reality it never needs to be seen so and "holder" is more for convenience / fashion .

  6. I was told at the service center for ***** that they will always be blue. Doesn’t mean that I believe it.

I saw pictures of the different colors when I was on the Regal in the area where the Ocean Compass display was . They were also selling the bracelets and necklaces you could wear and that is where I purchased my blue band.

  7. Since you are ELITE, how would that work with your current 'free internet minutes' allocation based on length of cruise ?

It doesn’t . I am on the 18 August cruise as well and got the same email . I guess I will wait and see what happens when I board . The one “adjustment” I am making is that I am taking my blue band just in case they spring the medallion on us on this cruise :) .

  8. I made a mistake in that I meant deck 17 / Sun , the level the Retreat Pool is located on . I am curious if they will create any special access privileges to the retreat pool in a similar fashion to what Carnival is doing with the Havana area on their latest ships.

  9. I'm guessing that pic was taken before Princess figured out that the medallion kept popping out of the wristband and people were loosing them

question... do the ***** 'test pilots' now get the lanyard?[emoji782]

My cruise was in March and it never popped out . When I received mine via FedEx it came with a lanyard / plastic holder and I bought the strap because for me it was more convenient that way . My biggest gripe is that little piece of rubber was not cheap.

BTW I just took the picture with the blue strap for the post on this thread. cbe571f77eae3da61d745878909eb3ca.jpg

  10. I am really interested in their new concept and I spend almost all my pool time at the retreat pool on the Royal Class ships . I am really curious if they will be any perks for staying in a Sky level room as some other cruise companies have done with similar areas .

  11. Nope. Only news on the CB is sightings of ***** staff and the Aug 4 rumor. Nothing official of any kind.

I am actually a fan of the medallion program and I was fortunate enough to be in the test group on my recent Regal cruise . The project has a lot of potential and I hope that they manage to work out the bugs and roll it out . I am excited about the rumors regarding the Caribbean Princess as my next cruise is on it in two weeks and I wouldn’t mind being a test pilot again .ba6128090d6483c6e51751e5aa4460cf.jpg

I regards to the comment about receiving the medallion before the cruise , the truth is that you actually do not need the physical token until you board . You can do all the precruise setup up through the app and the ocean-compass website. It also saves them the shipping and packaging costs ( >$30k per cruise estimated) .

  12. I have never cruised to Alaska and I am tempted to book a cruise on the Royal Princess next August to Alaska.

It will be doing a Northbound from Vancouver to Anchorage . Obviously the best view be from the public outside decks, but what is the forums opinion of which side of the ship to select a balcony on this for type of transit as far as the view is concerned. I also understand that an AFT balcony would be a good way to have both , but I would prefer to get the forums opinion on Port or Starboard and why.

  13. For a special occasion , I would definitely consider doing the Ultimate Balcony Dinner . I arranged for this once as a surprised to my DW. My preference was to plan it for a day with a late departure , however an AFT balcony would probably reduce that need as it should be fairly well sheltered. The meal was amazing and the service top notch . Here is a picture for motivation9d40cd7945984f3b3562a45c02bbd6bf.jpg

  14. Tips are included, but I am not sure about the refundable deposit . Never heard of anything relating to a 10% deposit for sip and sail unless that is related to the cruise deposit . If related to the cruise deposit , it means you can get 100% of your deposit / down payment which is typically 75-90before the cruise .

  15. So in advance you were able to tell them you had no illness in the hours before boarding?

If I recall correctly it became active a few days before boarding and just after I received the medallion which was less than 7 day before.
