The excursion to Dale of Norway from Bergen was one of my favorites. It was a scenic drive, and at the factory we were able to see the Dale sweaters the Norwegian Olympic team wore for each of the Winter Olympics and saw all the production steps, from sweater designing on a CAD system, the many automated knitting machines, and the sewers finishing the sweaters. The gift shop had items for sale, but it wasn't exactly an discount outlet. We ended up purchasing Dale and Norlender (another quality Norwegian brand) sweaters in Oslo at a Dale store, another knitwear shop near the building where the Nobel peace prizes are awarded, and at the Oslo Cruise Terminal shop which carried a surprisingly good selection.
