  1. We received basically the same compensation when the Star lost both azipods and we were adrift at sea in Australia. I'm sure NCL learned from that experience that it is best to fix the azipods right away vs. tool around at reduced speeds. Have you looked at the Breakaway cruise that leaves from NYC on Sunday? True, the ports are not comparable but it should be warm and it is only 7 days which means only 5 days off work.

Hey there. I was looking at that one. It's on the breakaway which is a nice upgrade ship-wise but the ports are just ugh (Orlando/Nassau ) though I'm sure Stirrup Cay is nice. I was just really excited for the real ports we were going to see and had fun things planned for them which, I guess, is what makes it all the more disappointing.

  2. Does anyone else feel like a full refund, 50% off a future cruise (base fare only and not including any admin fees etc. , I'm sure) and a $300.00 airline credit p/p (if you booked airfare) simply isn't enough? My wife and I get one vacation per year where we can go at the same time and booked this 11-day timeshare presentation with food, taking 7 days off of work in the process each. I've staffed, delegated and prepared all of my employees for all contingencies/issues and my wife has done the same. The only options now after they told us 5 days before the cruise is one 9 day leaving out of New Orleans which has flights totaling around $2,500+ total and we'd still have to do hotels and connections in order to make it work (there's a Hawaii one but I don't even want to think about the costs for that one). It just seems to me like they should offer more like additional airline credit so we can take another vacation to make up for the one we planned many months ago. That pathetic sales presentation in the end of the "sorry, not sorry" note really pissed me off, too. They should just be giving the "free at sea" over this. I also noticed they sent the notice out at 5PM right when Guest Services (the people who issue the 50% off) closes and don't think that was by accident at all.

  3. I have seen people with a bad attitude like you found at your table always complaining. I ignore them. I laughed about their going to the midnight comedy which is promoted as an adult (no children allowed) comedy show and then walking out when the comedian told a dirty joke. What were they expecting? We love the late night comedies but then we are open minded adults. It did make me laugh however at their antics.

There are people in this world who are miserable which is self inflicted. My DW's grandfather went to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful to only complain that it was not big enough to warrant the trip. Not sure what he expected.

Always remember that the people who are unhappy will jump on the web to complain loudly many times without any evidence presented while those who enjoyed the experience will most likely not post a comment. Read the criticism cautiously to see if it is really valid.

For us being on a cruise ship in the ocean with meals 24x7, twice daily room cleaning, great entertainment and beautiful ports of call beats being at home anytime. Cruise on.

Some people are just miserable l3itches determined to be nasty and unpleasant about everything. I'd feel sorry for them if they'd only stop trying to drag everyone around them into their miasma.

  4. Yea really LOL

I didn't get the reference, who is Florence Henderson?

Recently got off a Royal cruise, and found it posted in the Daily, and posted on the Community board near Guest Services.

Issue is on the Community board was different time than in the daily.

Community board time was always when our dinner was and the daily paper was way to late :(

Maybe we an old couple that is thinking that 11:30 PM is too late?

5 am is too late for me unless sex is, by some miracle or curse happening and even then, in all honesty, I'm hardly participating. 35 vs 55 priorities, lol. Look at that! You finished! Good for you, champ! [emoji1]! *turns head and expels a very deep eyeroll that takes about 2 minutes* Zzzzzzzzz....

  5. No coordination of benefits. The Princess Platinum is secondary insurance and will cover what your primary doesn't. They require you submit to your primary plan first, then forward the EOB's to them so they will cover the rest.
Makes sense. The most annoying and roundabout way to process a claim with manual forms and much aggravation hoping to tire the insured out and into giving up. Thanks for the update and now I know more about ship insurance.

  6. I was dealt a case of ship acquired Flu A while aboard the Grand for ten days last week. I incurred medical expenses of close to $400. I have the Princess platinum level insurance coverage plus private sector health insurance via Blue Cross. For those of you who have to file for reimbursement where do I start first?

I'm an expert in medical insurance and insurance in general. File with both so they can do coordination of benefits behind the scenes and share your claims adjusters' contact information for both and save yourself the hassle. Recognize that the ship insurance is likely an indemnity plan and depending on where in the country you bought blue cross and the plan you selected it could be any number of different plan types that may or may not include out of network coverage or emergency travel medical. That's for them to sort out. I'd contact ship insurance first as they may cover the whole thing on the spot (but I doubt it). Hope this helps.

  7. When we left Adventure on Saturday, we grabbed a porter and he got us through customs faster than those doing it on their own. There are separate lines. He then took us out to the curb where taxis (vans) were ready and waiting to take us. We had 3 people and 5 suitcases, it was $24 to our hotel in OSJ. We left the dining room at 8am and were in the taxi by 8:20, fastest ever. When we left the hotel to the airport, they called a taxi for us and he was there in under 10 minutes. It was $28 from hotel to airport. These guys haven't had much work in the last few weeks and are grateful to drive you anywhere. We always ask about their situation, tip well, and leave them with a handshake and a smile. It's the least we can do.

As you have 1sr hand experience, can you confirm what I said? The cruise port is fine and no mosquitos, correct? Also if you could provide your experience with the airport the way you did for the cruise port, that'd be awesome.

    Thanks!

  8. Yes they have lots of lockers, over 50 at least. They are the smaller cubby hole style and have a key lock. You can get the keys from an attendant at the spa by leaving you key card. I’d say about half the guys will get a key the rest just grab an open empty locker and leave their stuff unlocked while they use the sauna.

    Have a fun cruise!

Thanks, Buddy. Please enjoy your next one as well. Sorry to necropost you!

  9. The Summit is a great ship, one of my favourites actually.

The men's change room by the indoor pool has a large sauna with a large window so you can watch the sea go by as you relax. It seats 8-12 men comfortably and is free to use. There is an open shower area outside the sauna to cool off between sessions and three large private showers which many men use to get ready in the evenings before dinner.

There is also the Persian garden which is by the spa, this is a pay area and is co-ed. It has several saunas and steam rooms plus heated tiled loungers. Unlike other Celebrity ships this Persian Garden is relatively small and all inside with no windows so it isn't an area I particularly enjoy.

If you are in an Aqua class stateroom you will have free access to the Persian Garden and also access to the Blu dining room, which for me is very nice. The food is at par or better than the main dining room with its own menu each night, but the service is much better since it's a smaller restaurant, think of it as your own speciality dining restaurant.

Have fun! I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Hey! This info is really helpful. Can you advise if they also have lockers?

  10. Could you kindly provide a ballpark figure for the transportation, pier to airport? Unfortunately without a cell phone number there is no way to complete the form for a quote. Also are you more than 2 people as I know that would affect the rate?

Any info in this area that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Sure! One thing you should note is that they normally try to call you on your cell as you're getting off the ship to tell you where to meet them but I'm sure you could prearrange that. You can take regular cabs but you'll have to wait a long time on line and they cost $25-$30 for the 25 minute trip to SJU. I am by myself but hoping to add another person or 2 to split the cost. My car was $40 (I opted for the bigger one because originally I had 2 other people coming with me), but they have the Prius for $25.50 which I'm sure size-wise is fine if the people you're with know you. Both of those options fit 3 adults & 4 bags. The next option up is the luxury minivan for $55 which fits 7 adults and 8 bags. The number of people in the car has no effect on the rate, just how many people/bags you can fit in the car. I checked and they're one of the cheapest and most reputable car services in the area. The people at the office were very nice and helpful and I'm sure you could book it with them over the phone at 787-918-7748 or email them at: reservations.prgt@gmail.com

    Hope that helps.

  11. Great advice, but much too reasonable for the OP.. they have said they are off the sailing and you and the others on your roll call are now better off because you will not be exposed to their negativity. Enjoy your cruise. Summit is a great ship.

Thank you, kind sir. I will enjoy it and the new friends I'll be meeting. It's sad but a lot of people have been cancelling this cruise out of fear (more in the roll call thread). I can understand worry and concern because Celebrity hasn't done the best job of making sure their people know what to say but people need to take SOME responsibility for themselves. They're your cruise provider, not your mother. At the end of the day, if one is concerned they should call people who are on the ground there like I did to tell you what's what, not some call center in Miami.

  12. Canadian government has issued a AVOID ALL TRAVEL to Puerto Rico and also a ZIKA VIRUS warning/alert for all citizens to AVOID ALL TRAVEL TO PR.

Celebrity management refuses to cancel the Summit cruises or even give customers rebook options without penalty.

Carnival, RCL and Holland have canceled all stops in PR rest of 2017.

Celebrity customer service says all is great in PR don't worry..it is all FAKE NEWS!

WOW! Just a bunch of liars and CROOKS!

I would also recommend you cancel the hotel and fly out on 10/28 based on the issues I discussed in my prior reply.

  13. Wow. Calm down. I'm on the same ship as you. I've checked extensively with the car company, the San Juan Cruise Port Authorities, the airport and several hotels in the area. Celebrity has handled this poorly, but here is the deal:

    1. Cruise port is fine and cell service is working. No mosquitos (but I wouldn't recommend going to the beach).

    2. If you don't want to deal with ****ty waitlist transfer service through Celebrity, hire a local company. I used Puerto Rico Green Transportation. The roads to the airport are fine.

    3. SJU is operating well with on time flights but it's recommended you show up 3 hours early.

    4. If your flight is messed up, the Marriott Stelaris Casino is open.

    Hope this helps.

  14. Hmm. Don't you love when someone just joins and makes a nonsensical comment on a thread that has been dead for over two years.
I love all the catty losers on this site who offer opinions no one asked for, cared about or will ever care about. Have a nice life. I'm sure yours is full of people just like you and that seems fair. I'm unsubscribing so don't bother wasting more of the copious amounts of time on your hands replying.

  15. Their website is salty garbage. I've never seen one this defective. Carnival, NCL & Princess work fine. Celebrity's website is God Awful and pathetic given their constant "Best" label they assign to themselves in everything they do which I have to hear about while on hold every ******g time I have to call to get anything done because the ******g website doesn't work.
