  1. No law can change Carnival/P&O's cash flow. Things are slow simply because of the amount of refunds , if they have the money we will eventually get it, if not then just hope government bails out ABTA or credit card company will pay up
  2. Thank you Colin 're insurance company, I didn't use the emergency number I thought that was for real emergencies like medical emergencies, no one was desperately ill. Perhaps I should of used it rather than customer services. Interestingly Cunard do not have an emergency number.
  3. Thanks Host Hattie will try on there as well. Unfortunately couldn't get through to Cunard on the phone, or insurance company. No response to emails. Had to act quickly, cruise cancelled on 15th , glad we did as 3 days later South Africa banned foreigners entering country, and total lockdown enforced last week. Cunard did eventually ring twice, on the 14th to say everything was fine and over 70s could cruise and it was going ahead as planned. Also the day after South Africa announced they were banning foreigners entering country. The lady was relieved we had acted fast. If we had waited for help would be amongst the thousands stuck abroad.
  4. Our cruise from Capetown to Southampton was cancelled, we were in Capetown, couldn't get through to Cunard on the phone. Saw the writing on the wall and booked our own tickets to get back to UK. We had booked both our outward and return travel with Cunard. Except outward was on QE not a flight. I believe this didn't change any and Cunard had a duty of care to get us home. THEY now say they are not responsible for the cost of our return airfare we must claim from insurance company. Could any passengers especially British, that were denied boarding in Perth QM2 , or that were denied boarding in Fortlauderdale Q.V, please let me know if Cunard either paid for their tickets, or refunded the money. PLEASE , it is the actual experience of the others that I need
  5. Refunds TL5HR post above. I was on the April 1st Capetown to Southampton, this was cancelled on 15th March in a letter that only mentioned FCC. I have never received a cancellation invoice. I emailed customer services saying I wanted a full refund. I was then too busy trying to get back to UK. I only found out about cancellation form , ie forfeit of FCC from this forum. I filled it in a week ago. Still no response from Cunard. Any one else on this cruise what is experience.
  6. I expect it will be May before I get my refund for April's cruise and August before I get the refund for June's cruise. On principle I will fight if necessary for my refund from Carnival, or from insurance or credit card company, it's my money for goods not delivered not their money. However in my mind the money is already spent. When this is over the British hospitality industry will be in dire straits. So I will spend every penny of it and more as soon as we are out of lockdown enjoying our beautiful country and supporting British jobs. A bit xenophobic you may say, but economic regeneration begins at home. I expect the advice against over 70s travelling will last some time so no insurance, don't need insurance to holiday in UK I will still go abroad as soon as restrictions are lifted, I will fly to Australia to see the grandchildren, The uncertainty of booking a cruise 2 years in advance and seeing if the virus will reappear can wait.
  7. It is not Mandatory, however if you go against this advice you will not be insured.

  9. I've applied for a refund for April 1st cruise, I'm in same boat with a June cruise, can only wait till it's cancelled, hope between Cunard , insurance and credit card company, there's some money left. But on the otherhand basically the money was already spent, so I think of it as loosing a holiday to stay alive, a good trade off. A full refund will be a bonus . I don't want FCC as I expect the advise for over 70s not to travel and especially cruise will last untill the last country is clear of the virus and we have a vaccination, one year minimum 2 years quite probable
  10. Their handling of the Capetown to Southampton leg also left much to be desired. We had phone call the day after they didn't let anyone board in Fremantle, this was in response to my earlier email asking if over 70s still could cruise, we were told QM2 was still sailing from Capetown as scheduled and not to listen to rumours about Fremantle. Only to get an email the next day that it was cancelled, no further contact no mention of help to get home.. Luckily as soon as I heard about people not boarding at Fremantle, I booked a plane home, which we then moved forward when South Africa announced that they would not be letting Europeans in to the country . If we'd left it to Cunard we would stil be in Capetown under their much stricter lockdown.
  11. 100% agree with Selbourne, but even if we get a full refund doubt if it will be in 14days. I have yet to have my P&O cruise cancelled but my April 1st Cunard cruise said it would take 45 days for the refund. Hope P&O have the money when the time comes to cancel my June cruise
  12. I was on the same cruise, and have not recieved the cancellation invoice you mentioned, all I had was the cancellation letter 3 weeks ago that only mentioned FCC . Never had a link to the refund form from Cunard, but thanks to this forum I filled in the refund form , misleadingly called forfeit of FCC, and asked for a full refund a week ago. If you want a refund just Google cunard forfeit of future cruise credit . If you want FCC no need to do anything
