  2. Oh ok, I'm glad I asked. I don't want a transfer post cruise that will take and hour and a half. Now I'm thinking it may be better to booked a round trip ticket via shared taxi Venice Link. That is 40 EU RT and from what I understand goes at the same speed as the higher priced water taxi? We were just going to use them from airport to Hilton Molino for our precruise stay and figure out the best mode of transportation from the cruise back to the airport. Now it looks like it might make since just to pre purchase a In and Out ticket option from them.

    Thoughts??

  3. It will be in the 40-45 Euro range (for an entire taxi). You might want to do some online research since there are some private transfer services that will take a reservation and get you to the port for about the same price.

    Hank

Ok, now I'm wondering if we should take the aliguana taxi as they quote 13 euros pp I think.

  4. I am trying to research the best transport option for our return to the airport from our cruise. We are using a shared water taxi for our arrival to take us to our hotel, however I'm not sure if I should book our return with venice shuttle or book another way. Things we are considering in our decision are as follows: cost, time, best transfer with luggage.

    Thanks for sharing...

  5. I recently called to inquire about a Choiceair flight that I could see on my end via the internet. I was told that it was a direct flight, even though it clearly had a layover. After going back and forth for a few minutes, I finally got her to see it wasn't. She then proceeded to say that the flight I was trying to purchase disappeared from her screen and was no longer available.

I hung up the phone, called back, and got another representative whom was able to see the flight clearly and help me with the purchase.

  6. I just received an email advising that St Johns is not offering day passes for August due to it being a busy period for them. I'm really disappointed as I was really looking forward to this on our upcoming trip.

Are there any other resorts that are in the area that are similiar to this that offer similiar day pass options for cruise pasengers?

  7. Have any of you dined at the restaurant that is on top? Would you recommend it or suggest finding other options?

Can you please share also the cost of the cable car round trip in US? I am trying to plan for our upcoming trip. How much such we expect to pay for a taxi from the cruise port to this destination?

Last, if we wanted to tour Old Town, how far is it?

    Thanks

  9. I originally booked the 8/24 cruise out of Venice for $1699 for a balcony 2D, got upgraded to a 2C because of CC. Plus perks available from 123 go promos (pick 2 for european sailings). Price has been reduced to $999 got price reduction, kept upgraded room and all perks! Airfare is very high though from the states.....the only non stops from JFK to VCE are $1795 pp. Wow! Somewhere in these posts I read to go to Choice Air and book the flights one way each way.........did that yesterday was able to get same flights (same seats) for $1500 pp! The people who helped me at Choice Air were great!

Oh, that is good to hear. I have been looking at choice air with little luck. Maybe I should call and speak with a rep.

  10. Thanks everyone. It looks like our ship gets in at 6:45 am. I agree, very risky. I will need to really think on this and explore other flight options. I hate connector flights, but I may not have a choice. We are flying in a day before, but staying a day late is not much of an option for us unfortunately.

  11. Hello,

I'm trying to figure out my flight options for a flight out of Venice to Atlanta after returning from a cruise with Celebrity. The only direct flight out that day leaves at 10:50 am. Is this feasible? I'm not sure how far the airport is from the terminal and what is the best transportation option.

Thanks for any recommendations in advance.

  12. You will find a taxi at the port which costs 70 Kuna (10 Euros), but taking one directly to the cable car is about 5 Kuna more. Cost for the cable car is 94 Kuna ($17) and they will accept credit cards. In my many years of travel experience, a ship shore excursion is not worth the money. You will get a much better value with a private guide and find we locals know much more about our town.

As a local resident I am not able to recommend any restaurants or private guides. However the Dubrovnik tourist bureau website will give you ideas of which of our historical sites you may want to visit. The map will help you get your bearings of the port and distance from the old part of town. Enjoy your limited time here, my home is enchanting.

Thanks so much for this valuable information. Yes, I usually try to research on my own and do excursions on my own, but for some reason I am finding it a bit confusing with the European itinirary as I am not at all familiar with the area.

  13. We plan to do this on our own. There is no way that I would spend that much money on a ship excursion for something that is is easily done on one's own.

All you need to do is some research.

    Terri

That is what I was wondering CRUZIN Terri, but the other poster in so many words said it was about the same price to get a taxi on your own.

  14. You can take a taxi from the port to the cable car and (including cable car fee) will be less than $90 for the two of you. You will be able to get a taxi back to the ship from just outside the old town.

Thanks. Would it make sense in your opinion to just take the cruise line's tour at $90 ($45pp) that includes transportation, cable car, and tour of old town?

  15. My husband and I are looking for excursions to do on a short trip to Dubrovnik.

We are interested in viewing some of the city by cable car, however wondering if we should take the ship's excursion Dubrovnik by Cable car at $45 pp USD or do this on our own.

This includes some time in Old Town as well. Please give me any feedback on this and any restaurant recommendations.

    Thanks.

  16. I just booked ATL to Venice and Barcelona to ATL (cruise goes from VCE to BCN) using miles on Delta for September. Both nonstop flights. I checked what the price would have been - and it was 1250 per ticket.

Thanks for sharing. Was that 1250 one way or round trip. I am hoping that the direct flights on delta from Atlanta come down to around $1250 for the time that we will be traveling in August as this is a big difference.
