I am going to start having some Outer Banks/ Florida Keys brochures and such mailed to the house ( and to her email) to have her mind elsewhere.

May 1993 we sailed on the Ecstasy, in one of the only Balcony Suites back then

for our Honeymoon, Eastern Itinerary!

Booked a 25th Anniversary (surprise cruise) for wife & I May 2018 on The Vista, 7459.

We are doing the 8 Day Southern this time.

Will there be many changes since back then :-)

Actually had a 9 day Southern on the Navigator with RCL and heard from our PVP , she told me about the Vista which I had no idea, did some research and we looked and saw that 7459 was available when we wanted to go.

So I did the switch. I think I made the right choice looking at the Havana.

I will keep the surprise into next year as long as I can.

Have to get our passport renewed as our just expired, But I travel for work from time to to time so I can tell her I might be able to take her on a work trip later this year.....

Looked online and that cabin was there so I called my PVP an cancelled RCL.

So this time we will do A&C...and hit B later.

It is a surprise for Our 25th and I thought wifey would like the Vista So much better?

Had a surprise cruise booked for her 50th in Dec but had to cancel due to a health issue with her..

Told my PVP I was bringing her on a stretcher if I had to, her response was the Balcony is big enough!

That happens, they do close the wait list if it gets too long.

 

I'd try the second option Carol mentioned, go to the MDR as soon as you board and try to get your dining changed there.

Get on the wait list for first seating. More often than not, it comes through before your cruise.

 

If not, go to the dining room at the appointed time (the maitre d's hours are listed in the cruise compass; usually 1 P.M. that first day) and request to be switched to first seating.

Thx, I tried to get on a wait list for the first seating ( called again this morning) they stated it was closed so we could not get on a wait list?

Your best bet is traditional first seating. If she needs to eat earlier than that, get a snack elsewhere. Generally, MTD does not start seating guests any sooner than traditional dining. (or at least, not by much)

Would this be for the main dining rooms?

Due to wifeys meds and how she is feeling, we are early eaters but can't be tied into a specific time each night.

We would like to get the same servers if possible for the interaction but unsure how or the best way to do this or what is the best way,

We don't make a reservation...walk in and request a table for two...on our recent cruise's we've had a maximum wait of less than 5 min.

I'll sneak into a room getting cleaned and check it out up there on the cruise.

We were on Deck 13 and the posts did not interfere with our view. The overhand did obstruct looking up a little, but if you are looking up and not at the water on a cruise ship balcony, you are looking the wrong way...lol

We only heard a little of the music from the pool deck above. Never anything at night or early morning.

Actually loved the overhang for 2 reasons. Shade during the day, and protection from some rain we had - we were still able to be outside.

I would not hesitate to do deck 13 again. We wee in 13598 and had 4 cabins through 13604. They are mid ship right between forward and aft elevators.

I would always opt is being close to an elevator is important the ones forward on this ship. While there are more aft, they also are the ones used to get to Windjammer and the other restaurants as well as Seaplex. Our longest elevator waits were aft unless there was a show.

I had booked on the 13th, but have since moved down to 11244.

Realized it was the pool above me.

Paid a could extra $$ to be out on the hump and a bit larger balcony.

After looking at the 12 & 13th, almost seemed like obstructed view with the posts.

I think 2 weeks prior I will have a little get-together to celebrate her 50th and give her something cruise related with everyone here.

Also on the 5 Night dining plan, I signed up for the 2nd night for the 1st dinner.

They pick the initial restaurant? And the other 4 I have to book when I board?

I can not book them in advance, correct?

I'm guessing this is at the 60 day mark to book shows?

Don't forget to sneak in time to book the shows and the North Star when they open up! Our shows opened up yesterday for my Sept sailing and this morning they were very limited on days and times...

I'll tell her I need if for work as mine just expired and going to get hers renewed as well just in case she can travel with me. She'll buy into that no problem.

We'll give her a week to get ready for a cruise!:D

Not telling anyone with the exception of my superior!( and you of course)

Funny, last night watching Wheel of Fortune, at the end they said they are giving away a cruise.. her reaction was, I want to go on a cruise again, it's been too long. :D ....If you only knew!

We are late to the game.

Need some advice on dining.

Due to health reasons wifey can not fly, was hoping she was cleared to fly by now but not, thus the delay in booking.

Wife turns 50 in Dec. ( This is a Surprise cruise)

So I just booked yesterday from New Jersey on the Anthem for the 12 Day, 2 Hour drive from home, nice. Initially was going to fly to San Juan and cruise from there. Talked to my boss yesterday and he said go ahead, take 2 weeks off...

They only have late dining, I think that is the Dynamic Dining, Rotating between 4 restaurants?

They say there is no wait list for the early as it is closed.

I understand.

I was going to purchase the 5 Night Dining as well.

Being new to RCL and thinking we would only get to the main dining area 4-5 times at most.

Should I just cancel the main dining? I don't think it is fair to the wait staff and other table mates?

It would be nice to meet and sit with them. But...

What would my options be to eat if we didn't do the Late seating other then the 5 nights at other paid restaurants.??

Also:

Ladies, How long should I wait before I tell her, Happy Birthday, we're going cruising?? Days prior?

I can probably pull this off until the last minute...

Going to have to figure a way to get a new picture taken so she doesn't figure it out..

I can tell her it has to be renewed as it is expiring there is a chance she is going to an international Conference next year with me if she is cleared, so I can tell her it is planning ahead for that and she would buy that.

Sweet! We have 7449 booked for next year!! Thank you for posting the picture.

Once I have the others, I'll post them, You'll love it back there. It's quiet and the elevators were quick..I did use the stairs alot to head up to Rosies and for Pizza many times...+ the Adult section is right up there as well.

We mostly hung out on our balcony for sailaways....
