  1. So by my reckoning there is a lot of confusion out there re the definition of an ‘overnight’ period. I feel I only really had an evening in port but hey ho as the saying goes ‘buyer beware’ and I will certainly research what I’m actually getting next time. My cruise survey certainly reflected my thoughts. On a brighter note all in all it was a good cruise with great food, staff and entertainment but the ship is sadly showing her age and in need of the ‘refit’ she’s getting soon. Thanks again everyone for your replies 👏👍
  2. I wonder whether cruise lines should be more ‘upfront’ with the port details but I often feel they don’t to entice more onto their own excursions 🤔
  3. Keep your thoughts coming as it’s all very interesting and helpful 👏
  4. As an aside the shore excursion pages online were showing ‘excursions to follow’ for the 2nd day in Tromso and Narvik 🤦‍♂️ All very confusing 😬 We know of passengers who booked private tours on the ‘second day’ in Tromso based on this 😦
  5. Thank you this has been very helpful, are these guidelines somewhere easy for me to find?
  6. Ours was trumpeted as 2 days in port in both Tromso and Narvik and our confirmation shows ‘overnight’ in both. In addition the online itinerary etc. also showed 2 days in both 🤷‍♂️ This is why there was so much confusion and anger at not gettIng a full overnight. The hotel analogy was one I used with the onboard customer services manager.
  7. The ‘booking’ with the port was always for a 01:30 departure according to my subsequent research 🤔
  8. Yes we do and have just done so on the Arcadia, to our cabin steward and waiters.
  9. Just got off the Arcadia (J317) to Norway for 12 days and got on board to find out our ‘overnight’ stays in Tromso and Narvik actually departed at 01:30 with a return to the ship at 01:00. We do not (along with lots of others) consider this to be overnight as per our confirmation which blandly stated an ‘early morning’ departure. Before we put pen to paper to follow on from our on board complaint does anyone have any thoughts or information that would help our cause or dissuade us from continuing to complain? Ultimately we were required to cut short our private northern lights excursion etc. by several hours. Also, was the departure of our Captain post cruise preplanned or was this a sudden change perhaps to do with our loss of power in an horrendous storm which caused the azipods to ‘cut out’ which was all very scary 😦
  10. Would you know what time it runs until? We have a 14:00 boarding on Arcadia this coming Thursday.
  11. Hurtigruten and Cruising in the same sentence? We’ve cruised more luxuriously on cross channel ferries 😬
  12. Thanks everyone, we were in Alesund this April so we know it’s a good port 👍
  13. There’s no need to bother, they’ll do it at check in.
  14. If you just want the basics there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Southampton Central Travelodge. In the town and an easy stroll to the ‘front’ to see other cruise ships etc. arriving/leaving. Why waste your money on overpriced accommodation and food 🤷‍♂️
  15. Where does it state we’re only referring to West to East TA’s 🤷‍♂️ There’s mention above of TA’s out of Barcelona and Venice 🤔 I’m on the Sky out of Southampton heading stateside on a 31 night return trip back to Southampton which departs on the 15th September 2024.
  16. I hope she does one before that as I’m going her to the US and Canada + return in September 🙏
  17. I absolutely would not risk or bother going to London unless on a ship excursion. So many things to go wrong and London ain’t what it was, I’ll leave it at that. So many other (nearer) things close by 👍
  18. My mother who is in her mid 80’s with a number of health issues has booked to travel with my wife and I, but in her own cabin, when cruising to the Med on the Sky Princess next March. Could you please share with me any recommendations for Travel Insurance Companies sympathetic to the elderly etc. and of course any other tips. Thank you.
  19. When I used them recently they were parking in Totton 😬
  20. As I said above there are 2 tour pick up points one at each end of the berth. So ensure you define which place before hand as it’s a fairly long sprint along the berth if you’re in the wrong place. When off the Island Princess a few weeks ago we were picked up outside the entrance to the east as highlighted below.
