  1. Just off Emerald. Used two coffee cards (Elite perk) from our previous cruise. Most days we had a latte and a hot chocolate and more often than not only one punch was taken. The cards had no ship name, cruise number or name on them.

  2. Might I be so bold as to ask why one does not put one's own nightdress in a drawer by the bed when one gets dressed in the morning?

Whereas it is wrong for the room steward to put it on a lamp by the bed, I wonder why anyone would want a stranger to touch their intimate clothing.

These are room attendants, not lady's maids.

Always put our nightwear away in a drawer. Certainly do not want anybody handling my nightwear, even to drape it artfully on the bed at turn down 😉

  3. Phoned to upgrade to balcony and was told £442 which I was pleased with , was put on hold and they came back on and said because I am flying premium it would be over £1000 , can anyone make sense of this 😢

Why should that make any difference. You have already been charged for the upgraded flights.

  4. We have done this on P&O - travelled on a world cruise sector from Southampton to Sydney and then left a case on board to pick up in Southampton at the end of the world cruise. Only cost about £35 from memory. Think this was just for world cruises though.

We are travelling Westbound on QM2 next August followed by a week travelling to Niagara via NYC, Washington and Philadelphia and we might tag an extra week on to visit with Canadian relatives. Would love to be able to leave some of our cruise luggage on board to retrieve at Southampton as we live in Weymouth. Not sure the logistics would allow this though.

  5. You don't need to arrange it, priority luggage delivery is part of the QG perks. Ordinary luggage delivery is pretty speedy so it's not worth getting too excited about.

Ah didn't realise OP had upgraded to QG. My luggage has always got to my cabins promptly anyway.

  6. We always print our own labels, put them in plastic holders and affix to our luggage. Never lost a case yet. Never heard of priority luggage labels. Heard of priority embarkation for passengers but never for luggage. How does that work and how do you arrange it?

  7. Look again GUT :) I can buy the water package on my Aug 2017 cruise for $8.97AUS

We are on Emerald repositioning cruise to Sydney which starts in Southampton but we pick it up in Singapore. The package is available for about £4.95 for 12 x 500ml bottles (I can get them for £2 in the UK 😒). Will carry on a couple of 2 litre bottles in Singapore and then restock at ports of call.

  8. I'm fussy about water but I love ship water. It's produced on board and all water is the same. As far as I'm aware, the cabin water is the same as the water anywhere else.

Have very often had black water coming out of the tap in my bathroom onboard a ship ☹️

  9. Do you think that whatever happens in the bathroom goes up the water faucet? If you are really worried about bathroom stuff in the faucet, run it for a minute before you fill your glass.

    DON

Please see my response to Friscoonetwo - its all down to my personal foible about water coming out of a bathroom tap but I do have a basic knowledge of plumbing and sewage 😂. It probably stems from childhood when we did not drink water from bathroom taps as that water came from tanks in our attic and not straight from the mains. Imagine if something nasty crawled in there and died 😱

  10. I know the tap water is free and perfectly fine to drink and I do drink it in the MDR but I don't drink water out of my own bathroom tap and I won't drink it out of a tap in the cabin bathroom.

The water in the MDR is the same water as in the bathroom tap. Am curious, does OP have 2 water systems in his house, one for the kitchen sink which is used for cooking and drinking and another system for his bathroom tap since he won't use it for drinking. Just asking.

I just asked a simple question and yet again someone feels the need to make a snide comment. I really wish I hadn't bothered ☹️. Whatever, water from the bathroom tap on the ship comes out brackish (to my taste) and sometimes even discoloured and I would never drink it in any volume - its just something I personally would not do. What others do is purely up to them. I like bottled water - must do as I do not mind searching it out and paying for it on port stops, and carrying it back onboard.

Thanks to those of you who answered my very simple question of whether the water policy is still the same as when I last travelled Princess in 2013. I am not a novice cruiser and have over 35 cruises completed and Elite with Princess and I always drink bottled water in my cabin.

Oh by the way Friscoonetwo I am a 'she' 😉

  11. Second quick answer: why bother?

The tap water is free as are the ice cubes.

I know the tap water is free and perfectly fine to drink and I do drink it in the MDR but I like to have bottled water in the cabin and for taking ashore. I don't drink water out of my own bathroom tap and I won't drink it out of a tap in the cabin bathroom.

Just wanted to make sure I could take it onboard from the various port stops. If not, I will order a water package but I can buy it ashore much cheaper than the Princess price.

  12. Be careful what you do in restrooms. By using the automatic hand driers it is sucking up all the urine vapour and dissipating it in a nice warm patch all over your clean hands!

Your powers of observation in the restroom may do you credit but just remember nothing is always as it appears to be.

Not many hot air dryers that I can recall. Everyone uses hand towels. You don't catch norovirus from urine, you catch it from faeces.

  13. Guess you have never been around anyone with acid reflux. Once your throat gets irritated it takes a long time to stop coughing. Even with water or a cough drop. Hope I'm never on the same bus as you when I start coughing. And no it's not contagious. :)

I completely agree with you. I have a serious post-nasal drip and cough and clear my throat almost constantly. I am in no way infectious and if someone offered me a mask to wear, I could not guarantee that my response would be a polite 'no thank you' 😏

  14. Just had the same response as you - not sure about having to make a reservation though. We didn't last time.

I think we'll just turn up and if there is a problem use the loungers at the beach bar next door. They're free if you buy a drink.

Same here. Is it far from the port?

  15. Sorry, my post should read 500baht pp (£11)

We didn't make a reservation last time, we just turned up. I have emailed them to see if they are still doing day passes - I'll post their response.

Thanks so much. I wondered about the £1 equivalent entrance fee 😀
