  1. Lucky princess, I believe you are taking the post out of context. We were discussing that exact topic and the response was in line and in no way did it make me feel. A though he was arrogant.

I was not so much taking it out of context as I was using it in conjunction with his post admonishing people that do things that 'break the rules' of the cruise. I felt that what he has written has broken the rules of CC. Name calling isn't really allowed, even if done subtly. His justification of breaking the rules of CC is to say he feels he must protect his integrity by telling posters they are breaking the rules. I felt that was a funny, ironic circumstance so I made a sarcastic post trying to point that out. :) I could care less either way in the alcohol debate so I don't have a dog in the fight, so they say.

  2. Have I made a wrong choice in life? Absolutely. Many.

Do I feel badly about it? Yes. Do I make it a point to learn from it, and not do it again? Also yes.

Do I deliberately set out to do things that I have agreed not to do? No. I don't.

One of the reasons I wrote on this thread is because, obviously, the OP and some others feel/felt that it is acceptable to smuggle booze. If no one speaks up and says "You agreed not to do that when you signed up for this, and therefore you shouldn't", then there continues to be little thought to doing it.

I don't know the OP. I certainly can't control the OP, or anyone else, other than myself. But, I do believe that, if you see people doing the wrong thing, if you (generic) don't speak up, ultimately they, as human beings who (I hope) strive to do better, suffer. And, society suffers, because I think that personal integrity is an important foundation for a good society.

I feel that my integrity would be at risk if I didn't mention to you that your post comes off as self-serving, smug and pompous. I'm sure you didn't mean to come off that way but your post makes you sound like an etiquette know-it-all and honestly, no one finds a boastful, 'I'm better than you so listen to my unsolicited moral opinion of your life' attitude as a sign of integrity or a foundation of what's good for a society. :D I only decided to post this after you mentioning that you feel it's wrong not to post a scolding reminder to posters...so please, no offense meant at all!

  3. Just drink the mini bottles - you might be a little tippsy getting on board, and miss the sail away -do not miss muster!! But, you might save a $1 or 2.

If you think there is no way to get booze aboard, you are a real newbie!! Lots of ways mentioned in this column so RC will know of them and give them new places to check!!

Enjoy your cruise = lots of fun when your luggage does not arrive, and you have to search for it, are you having fun now??.

I can hear you shaking your fist lol! Get off my lawn, you dang kids!! :p

  4. Sorry it's taking so long. A lovely young-in blasted into me on the Explorer and knocked me down. My back has been killing me to the point that I went to the hospital. I have a herniated disc. People please watch your children. He didn't even say he was sorry, just ran away. The last two days, I had to deal with the lovely elevator people.

That being said, I tried to upload the compass' with both of my scanners and can't seem to figure it out. My neice is coming over today, maybe she can figure it out. If no one post's them by Monday I can't take them to my daughters and she can do it for me.

Oh no! Are you ok now? I'd have tackled the little bastard for you!

  5. Eating places on Explorer include the MDR, Windjammer, Portofino's, Johnny Rocket's, and the Cafe Promenade. Of course, room service is available too.

The slide is really small as is the pool and is intended for small kids. I've never seen an adult use it.

I'm used to having a Chops onboard but I've never tried Portofino's so that's good. Damn about the slide...:p

  6. It seems like the only pictures of any cabanas from RCCL are the ones on Barefoot Beach and none of Nellie's Beach. I can't even find a map uploaded that shows where or how the Nellie's Beach cabanas are laid out. So frustrating..

For the OTW cabana that Danzur posted - was that a Nellie's one or a Barefoot one? Also the one that seemed like it wasn't over any water - did you walk into the water from the ramp or did the ramp end on sand and then you walk into the water?

  7. Hi everyone!! So we will be sailing as a family vacation this February on the 9 night itinerary! We are super excited! I have just a few questions please, and I thought if anyone could answer the good people on the Explorer thread could!

    1. Is Adventure Beach just for kids? it looks like super fun stuff to do and I will have a 2 year old with me so I can use him for a beard :D

    2. The Over the Water cabanas on Labadee - we're looking at Nellie beach and I really want to rent one - do you think being 4 months out is too late? I can't seem to get info right now because rccl.com isn't recognizing our deposit since we just made it a few hours ago.

    3. Does anyone have a recent-ish compass for the 9 night itinerary?

    4. Does anyone have any menus? From room service as well? I just read on here that they may update the menus? That would be awesome - any word on that?

    thanks!

  8. Wow, you guys are really good, lol! I have 0 sense of space or rooms on board these things :) I saw that someone was good enough to show where 12103 was and that the balcony was a bit bigger. I'm looking at 12103 and 12104 because my family has only ever sailed on RCCL and we have done hump balcony cabins for the bigger balcony. Is this comparable? Also, do the lifeboats really get in the way? I don't think I often looked straight down leaning over my railing so I don't know if I would be affected by that view? If I'm sitting in my chair will I have a straightforward view of the ocean and horizon? Thank you so much whoever knows in advance!! Can't WAIT to try Epic!

  9. What a great review!! That was so wonderful! My parents are getting a little older and a lot poorer :P due to some circumstances so my sister, her husband and their baby and I are bringing them on a family cruise for some wonderful memories! We have all sailed RCCL before but they have all only done the Western Caribbean...I've done Eastern already but it looks like we'll do that or Florida/Bahamas. Do you think the Epic will have enough to hold the interests of so many different age groups? Also, is there a place for me to find the upgrade prices of all the restaurants?

My parents only went to the formal dining room once on their RCCL cruise as they much preferred being casual and 'not fancy' and did the Windjammer for almost every meal. I feel like maybe NCL is a better fit for them to not feel out of their comfort zone. Would you agree? Or anyone else!

  10. We are not sedentary people and surely do not want a history lesson of every port we visit. It seems that a lot of people don't want to admit that because they are always told to go learn the history, take an island tour or whatever when they do.:o We want something more adventurous. Give me nature hikes, bike rides, zip lines, ATVing, snorkeling, kayaking, wilderness tours...those are what we cruise for. So any island with something to offer in any of these types of activities is great for us. We hate just lying still on the beach somewhere - we could do that at home by the pool or at the shore which is a short drive away. I'm studying to be a Zoologist, so anything dealing with wilderness is also interesting and any fine dining will interest my bf.

People vacation for so many different reasons that I'm sure there is a port for everyone:)

  11. So if someone above you is standing at the railing, they can see into your balcony? Just curious as we don't like having to look around first to see who is out there.... We might try aft sometime but I'm not sure about the view always being the same (wake) and the metal piping around. Someone put it really well once and said it was like looking out of a football helmet.

    Great pictures!!:)

  12. The D1 and D2 are the same exact size (214 sq. ft.)

The difference between the 2 are that only D1's will have a SofaBed, while D2's do not. Most D2's are for 2 passengers only.

If you are facing forward on a ship ,your right is always Starboard Side, while the left is always Port Side .

    BTW= E1's and E2's are smaller (177 sq. ft.)

    Radio

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thank you for explaining the differences in D1's and D2's! The picture of the one you posted looks beautiful! I can't wait! I was on the hump on Radiance and thought that room was great but this looks even nicer. As well, thank you for the directional lessons! You're very sweet as I was a little embarrassed to ask!:D

  13. Hi Radio!! Thanks for all the pictures.

Can anyone tell me if a D1 would look like the D2 or is the D2 bigger? Not sure if there is some huge difference? I'm assuming that my D1 would be smaller - not sure why I'm thinking that though.... Also, I'm on the 9th deck hump - please, don't flame or yell at me everyone (I did call it a ship instead of a boat, after all!:D) but is that considered mid-ship? And ...um - I don't know which side is starboard and even what the opposite of that is called:confused: Sorry - I'm terrible with directions, N,E,W,S and left/right, too. Must be some sort of defect...:o
