  1. I had the surf package on the Grand. The were running a special of $99 for a week of the middle level (surf above). Worked great and switched between 2 devices, though only one at a time. So it is on at least one other besides Regal.

  2. I'll be on the Grand for March 23 Hawaii cruise. What is the internet situation? I remember seeing the posts about the testing of a new unlimited plans, yet they are still offering per minute plans in the personalizer.

I was onboard end of October and brought the $99 minute package. When on board they had the tiered weekly and daily plan. They just converted it. $99 paid for 1 week unlimited middle tier. No issues worked great for doing the work email I needed to do. Supposedly that was a special and price may go up.

  3. Was on Grand last week. For the middle (surf) it was $99 for the week (7 days). I am not platinum or elite. Speed was fine and switched between 2 devices multiple time but only 1 device is active at a time, which makes sense, would be a problem if limited to 1 device for me (iPad & phone). No limit and I downloaded some stuff for work - a bit slow on download but otherwise was fine. The 500MB is the speed not the amount of data.

  4. We tried last week on the Grand. Was a lot of food. Tried the porchetta, and the crust on the outside was crisped to perfection!! Too full for dessert but had some of my husbands chocolate dessert and it was beautiful, tasted good and more then enough for two.

A few picture from UBD last week on the Grand. We got a credit of $32.50 for the champagne ( preferred to get regular white wine). Flowers definitely worth more then $5. We did have a picture included. Also as other’s have said - the service is great - would do it again!

  6. My vote is for the California Coastal. San Francisco is on our bucket list and hotels there are expensive!!

We're thinking of booking the 10-day RT from Vancouver in 2018. I posted on the West Coast Departure board with little response, so was happy to see this discussion. My question...

April 25 (includes Monterey, Star Princess) vs Sept 24 (substitutes San Diego, Emerald Princess). Both O/N in SF and the other ports are the same. We've sailed on both ships before. Might the Sept 24 sailing have better weather and/or seas? Unpredictable with climate change, but interested in people's experiences.

September in California is beautiful (been in the Bay Area 13 years). April is definitely cool, and will be cool in the evening if outside for sure. Very little humidity here and the Pacific Ocean is always 53 - 57F so sets the tone. So-Cal is also better in Sept. To sum it up: I would not hesitate to book Sept - would think hard about April.

  7. I take a Meclizine pill ever night before going to bed while cruising and drink the next day and never had any issues. Tried to not take a few times and got sick. So for me no issues and plan the same on next cruise and beyond

  8. To be specific I am asking about A738 on Royal. So it is direct aft. How does it's size compare to the standard balcony? Anyone have dimensions ? Just want it to be comfortable to sit out and read or have a glass of wine.

  9. I was on the Jewel last week and had no unlimited. I brought the 250 minutes for $125 (got 270 for buying early) as needed to checkin for work. I would have brought the unlimited. Yes multiple people could use, they just had to signin with your credentials. I will say that the performance was no issue at all for email, even with attachments. But it may get worse with more people on it. The connection even worked on the patio (had a front suite), which made it better when checking work!

  10. Yes always check reservations. I had worked through a online TA. Didn't check reservation carefully till month before (booked 9 month out). Called and tried to fix, after many calls and escalations, I finally reached someone and only because I had an email in writing did get it added before I got to the ship. Would have been much better to have done earlier. So read your reservation confirmation immediately and call if any questions no matter where you book. Mistakes happen.

  11. Trying to plan dinner and the show times are 7:15 and 9:15. Since we usually eat at 8PM this will not work with either time. So looking to book later. Do most of the shows run about 1 hour so we could make reservations for 8:30?

Are their certain shows to not miss?

  12. I am on the Jewel on the 28th. Last night I was able to book all the restaurants I want, they all came up zero since I have UDP. It confirmed them all and never asked for credit card. So OBC will not work but UDP will. Just thought I would share that as wasn't clear to me I could reserve

  13. We have done this on 3 different cruise lines. NCL, RCI and Princess and I must say that Princess was the best. The included a kitchen tour in the beginning where they served 5 appetizers with champagne and demoed ice carving. We got to talk to staff who loved when I asked for a picture. At dinner they had meat hanging on skewers and light them on fire to char them, that surprised me but was impressive). For dessert they had "7 tastes" which was great and then passed fancy chocolates. We were stuffed! They also gave us a signed cookbook and picture, price was similar

NCL was better then RCI, though we did this in Feb 2011 when they were just trying this on the Epic. Yes it is almost the same menu! Even the wine, we first had Matua at that dinner and by it often. We probably will try again in a few weeks on Jewel, but wish they would switch it up some.

  14. All it lists in cruise docs is Roatan (Bay Island). That is why I asked. I am assuming the one not on the mainland. But I know that some itinerary of this cruise have been mainland. So if anyone has gone lately would be interested.

  15. I am on the March 28th cruise out of Houston. The cruise info says the stop is Roatan (Bay Island). But I see references in here to Banana Coast, etc. so looking for clarification. Also is this port tender? Like to book my own excursions so want to make sure I book the right location

  16. My input is avoid the hassle of one ways and just visit the Olympic national park and Mt Rainier. Take the car ferry from Seattle to the west near the park. In the park, you can see rain forest (I thought more lush then in Ketchikan), go in the hot springs (if you don't mind the sulphur smell), see a pretty part of the shoreline at Kalaloch, continue loop of the park and see southern side with trees and saw Roosevelt elk, banana slugs and stayed at a 1920 family lakeside resort that had some kid activities. You could then loop down and see Mt Rainier and if national park hotel is still there, stay part way up the mountain. My kids were 7&9 at the time and enjoyed this trip, time to run around and be kids, especially if going on boat later. Easily filled 5 nights and as others mentioned also things to do in Seattle. We stayed at small hotels/cabins and very kid friendly. This was back in 2001 so my data is a bit dated. You also will love Alaska, just got back from there last Sunday.
