I cannot believe that someone with that problem ever became a concierge.

We had Hanno the only time we have been in a Suite and he seemed to love that part of his job as he gave special Suite port talks.  And they were excellent.   He was also always present, for some period, in Moderno during breakfast and lunch and spoke to almost everyone there.

Yeah, it was weird. We loved the enthusiasm Leah displayed last year when she talked to every single suite guest at Modernos and offered great & extensive port and show information every single day. There was none of that this year with this concierge.

    Hi,

We will be on the Dawn in March. Does anyone know who the concierge will be?

    Thanks!

Just got off the Dawn on Sunday. The concierge was Roel something.

The only reason I know the first name is from one of the letters left in the room. He never introduced himself and never saw him around. We ate breakfast and a few lunches at Modernos (reserved for suite guests), and never saw him there either, although we saw a sign by the maître d's desk that read "concierge desk". Finally met him at the priority disembarkation briefing 2 night before departure, where he said something about not being comfortable talking to groups of people.

Such a difference from the absolutely amazing Leah, who was the concierge on the Dawn same time last year.

  3. You are entitled to your opinion. I’m just trying to help out fellow UAV owners here who might be considering taking theirs on MSC.

Your snarky comments aside, we only brought it to his attention at the end of our conversation when he asked us if we had experienced any issues so far. There was no begging or pleading. It was just a very friendly Captain who wanted to make sure that we were having a wonderful cruise.

We had a nice conversation where he told us why the rule had been changed as I described above. It was done for the passengers safety as they found that most did not understand the drone laws for the multiple ports of call. They didn’t want passengers to be detained or have their drones confiscated by the local governments while in port.

So having the appropriate clearances ahead of time *might* allow you to get a waiver from MSC.

I understand that some members here are opposed to drones in general. Perhaps you have been injured by a drone at some time in the past or had a family member subjected to a drone assassination attempt. If it was the latter I hope your family in Venezuela is ok.;p

Lol! So glad everything worked out!! I took my Mavic with me last year on a southern Caribbean cruise and had a blast.

  4. Last year we got super lucky and got upgraded from Balcony to DOS on the Dawn for $620 bid total ($310 pp)!! That was a fluke though; we had bid just $10 over the minimum of $300 for the SE Penthouse. About 4 days before sailing we received an email from NCL upsell dept saying:

    "

Please call me to accept category SA for your bidding price of your balcony , please keep in mind cabins are limited and base on first call back basis."

Needless to say we took it and had an awesome week!

  5. Only thing is, My Cruise Planner is only showing $100. Does it take a while to show up? The sale supposedly ends tonight and I would feel better if I saw it on my account.

Have you received the updated email confirmation after you spoke to them today?

The obc shows up in the confirmation under the "add-ons" section. Mine shows up as:

    2 x Free $50 On-Board Credit Certificate Non -Refundable

    2 x Free $250 On-Board Credit Certificate Non -Refundable

    2 x Free $50 On-Board Credit Certificate Non -Refundable

  6. I think what the lawyers were discussing was the difference in terminology like "ultimate beverage package", as in "hey, a bottled water is a beverage, why is not included", vs the updated and more accurate "unlimited open bar", which describes more accurately what we actually get. Semantics, I know, but I can see the lawyer angle to the first argument.

Don't shoot the messenger!! I love the UBP or whatever we call it nowadays and happily pay the gratuities. I'm just pointing out the reasoning behind the original discussion at the OPs office.

    Cheers!

  7. As many know, these suites are very pricey. Would love some opinions on the DOS. We are considering 17004 because it seems like a great full on view forward and would be peaceful. However, the balcony does seem small compared to the other suites. Also, please weigh in on what ship has the best Haven? We were told Epic has the best Haven in the fleet and it is easy to drive to for us. We are also consdiering the Escape but that would entail the added expense and time of flying. Thanks!

After reading many reviews here and looking at a few online videos, we booked 17007 for our cruise next year. Everyone's preferences are different of course, but we enjoy the forward facing view. The balcony on 17004/17007 is really not that small; it fits 2 loungers, 2 chairs, and a small table; plenty of space for the wife and I.

For those who like the forward facing view, you can't beat 17004/17007; on the other hand for those who don't mind some crowd noise and want to be closer to the action and people watching from their balcony, then 17030/32/33/35 are better for them. They all have slightly different configurations so look around for videos online. Also, there are 2 more DOS on the 16th floor, but those have the enclosed-type balcony, which I'd imagine would be great if cruising in Alaska or a cold weather destination.

Happy hunting; remember regardless of the differences, you really can't go wrong with any of the DOS'!

  8. Ok another question. I see on NCL website in the terms and conditions that it is 2 per transaction. So you can get 2 at a time?

    (2) beverages per transaction. Package can be used in all restaurants, lounges, bars and Great Stirrup Cay. Any items over $15 USD will receive a $15 USD discount and the guest will be charged the difference to their account. Ultimate Beverage Package i

Yes you can get 2 at a time, per card!

My wife and I always order 3-4 at a time without issues. In fact depending how busy they are they may just swipe one card once they get to know you. Have fun!

  9. My PCC was able to apply the new OBC ($700!!!) to my Nov reservation even though my category was sold out. She did say she couldn't do it on her own since it was sold out, that she had to ask a higher up. They had me on hold for a while, but nevertheless she got it done!

  10. We are in 10506 in June....Having been in a 2 bedroom suite on the Breakaway, Escape and Gem, the only was we could afford this suite was on a non-Haven ship. So, so excited and am thrilled to hear about how friendly this ship is. Would love to see some updated photos post-refurb, but honestly...most of my time is spent on the balcony so the color of the carpeting really doesnt matter!

    Have a great cruise!

Check out the "freedom sale" going on right now. I called this morning to check on it and I they were able to apply it...the overall price remained the same but now we got $700 in OBC!! I suggest call NCL to see if it applies to your sailing.
