  1. If it starts in San Juan, they use the Pan American docks across the harbor, not the one near the Sheraton. The one in Old San Juan near the Sheraton is almost always used exclusively by cruise ships stopping in SJ for the port day or any Carnival ships.

  2. This image should best explain about the restricted lighting across the bridge - LINK:

    https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/Norwegian-Dawn

CLICK on "PICS" in the dark grey banner bar - - -

New window opens - count 9 rows down and the 3rd one in from the left

All the DOS on deck 12 are set back while the suites on deck 9 & 10 could have reflective lighting off their balconies

Makes sense now, thanks! We stayed in 12500 last year and loved it. This year we'll be in 10506; looking forward to it!!

  3. Wow I just talked to the PCC about changing but if I do, not only would I have to pay the $1,000 fare difference (which I'm willing to do) but I would also lose the $500 OBC I got when I booked many months ago! ($600 total with the latitudes OBC).

She said any change in room category would mean a cancel/re-book and they could offer the current incentives only. None of the current sales offer bonus $500 OBC so I would lose it. I asked if they could honor it since I'm spending another $1K and staying within the Owner's Suites after all, but no luck. This change in room would essentially mean a +$1,500 difference.

I think I'll be better off keeping the $1500 and using it towards a bid for the Garden Villa.

  4. XXXXX

Dawn OS's SA vs SB...is the DOS with 2 balconies worth the $1000 difference?

My answer would be yes - having the balconies for fresh sea air and quickly stick ones head out

to see what is going on the side of the ship or even forward.

    My constitution - Once a Balcony - Always a Balcony !

Another lessor so factor the 2nd bath commode feature for when there are guests 3 & 4.

Yet another factor the OBC given as a booking perk - a tie breaker perhaps.

Yes it is a real quandary of sorts - the best stateroom in the house is the S1 class suite on deck 14 "Garden Villa" !

Whatever you want the Butler to stock the mini-fridge is a variable amount - beer soda etc. no miniatures of

    liquor.

    Thanks for the info!

  5. Cruising on the Dawn later this year and currently booked on 12502 (SA - DOS). We stayed in 12500 last year and absolutely loved it, but I have to admit I missed having a balcony. There is currently just one SB left available, which is the OS with 2 balconies, but those rooms are always exactly $1,000 more than the DOS's.

So, for those who have stayed in both categories, are SB's worth the big price difference over SAs? I know it's a personal decision; SA have better panoramic views; SBs are a bit bigger and have 2 great balconies. Just wondering if anyone noticed anything else that makes it $1K better besides those 2 observations. In the end, they both come with 3 bottles of booze and mixers so it's a win-win no matter what! ;p

Funny thing is...they won't let you bid to go from SA to SB because SB is considered a lower category despite the price difference; go figure!

  6. We were also in Martinique last November on the Dawn and didn't notice too much damage. We are on the Dawn again this year for Thanksgiving week and yesterday received them itinerary change email...Martinique has been removed and replaced with Antigua. Although we loved Martinique, Antigua was our favorite port last year. Great beaches!

  7. There's hope, you never know! We went from balcony to Deluxe Owner's Suite on the Dawn last year. My minimum ($300 pp) bid for a Penthouse Suite was rejected, but I guess no one bid for a DOS because 48 hrs before sailing I got an email AND phone call asking if I would accept the DOS for my existing bid for the lower category. Needless to say I accepted it and had a great time!

  8. My last one was horrible and sneaky. So I decided to call the reservations line and asked to speak to someone at the PCC dept. After I got transferred and finished explaining I wanted a new PCC, the guy said not to worry and that he would take care of it but that it would take a supervisor's approval so it would take a day or two. He also said that in the mean time, he could help me with whatever I needed; he then asked for my previous' PCC's name and as soon as I said her name...he just laughed and said no reason or explanation needed lol, that the supervisor would take care of it as soon as possible. The very next day a new PCC contacted me and she has been nothing but awesome so far!
