  1. We're not new to cruising but have never sailed on one of the bigger ships. I've head when sailing on some of these ships, you now have to book times to see the shows at night. Next year, we'll be sailing on the Escape. There will be at least 10 of us in our party (a couple more might be joining us, they haven't decided yet)

I've tried looking on the NCL site and can't seem to find where you would book any shows. Are there any other things (aside from speciality dining) that we have to book ahead of time?

And have far out can you book?

There will be 5 staterooms. So does that mean 5 separate show bookings or can I just say, We need 10 seats?

Any other info you can shed would be appreciated.

  2. We just booked the Norwegian Escape for August 2019. One of the free offers we chose was the 3-night dining package.

After doing some research, I saw that restaurants that used to have a flat rate, now have "ala carte" dining. How does that work with the "free offer dining package". We plan on going to the steakhouse. I assume we won't have to pay the ala carte prices and can choose an app, entree, dessert?

If you've had the dining package through the "free offers" when you booked, how did it all work out?

  3. We'll be sailing Aug 8th on the Horizon and I have a question about the Skyride.

How easy is it to get in to & out of the seat? I was watching a video and it seemed that the seats are pretty close to the floor while boarding them, is this true?

And is that a harness that they put on you?

  4. It's not high protein like you need. Only 3-4 grams. Sorry

The yogurt that they have is only 3-4 grams? If so, I'll stick to an egg or something. But the yogurt that I have (Dannon Lite & Fit Greek) is actually 12 grams, so I'm just checking ahead of time to plan out my days. It's my first cruise after this surgery. Luckily it's a quick 3-night. So it'll give me a taste of how to vacation after surgery.

    Thanks!

  5. Ok, might be a odd question, but can someone tell me what kind of yogurt the ship carries at the buffets? I recently had weight loss surgery and will be looking for a yogurt for breakfast. At home I eat Dannon's Lite & Fit Greek. Is this something that I'd be able to find? If not, there's are other things that I'll be able to have so no worries, just checking.

  6. Those wavy loungers and the white ones are in the Spinnaker Lounge on the 13rh deck forward on Jewel, Pearl and Gem. Never been on Dawn but did hear they moved Spinnaker Lounge downstairs when they renovated it.

Yes, I just checked out some images of the Spinnaker Lounge on the Jewel and those are the white chairs that I was talking about. I sure hope they're on the Dawn as well. Most comfortable thing I've ever sat in. :D

  7. Back in 2010 we were on the Jewel and while walking around we found this seating area that was right up against the side of the ship looking out at the sea. There were these green wavy shaped loungers and also right next to them were these white circular chairs that looked like a doughnut.

We're leaving next weekend on the Dawn and I'm wondering if we'll find the same kind of seats/loungers on there? Those white doughnut shaped chairs were SOOOOO comfortable.

  8. So far from what I've been reading is that the buses have a limited running schedule on Sundays. We'll be getting there on the Dawn around 1:00pm. The plan that my husband has laid out so far was to hit Gibbs Lighthouse and then Horseshoe Bay Beach.

Will the buses be running during this time? Can someone point me in the right direction of the Sunday bus schedule?

    Thanks

  9. I have a packing list on my computer at all times. I have separate lists for each family member, since we each bring different things. I pack for myself and my husband and my boys pack for themselves, I just hand them a list of what they NEED to bring and they'll throw in whatever else they want (they're 18 & 19)

My husband and I are leaving next Friday (14th) to Bermuda. CAN'T WAIT!!!

I have already gone though the lists and tweaked them as needed.

I did have to go out and buy a few things (I needed water shoes) bought a new beach bag, a few new clothes, beach cover up, etc.

The new stuff has been put aside and I won't wear any of it until vacation.

The only thing that is completely packed is my toiletry bag. I got a new one from L.L. Bean and I love it. I have a second set of toiletries that I always bring on vacation, so I have the bag ready to go. That way I'm not rushing around the morning we leave trying to remember to put in my brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. I just bought all new stuff and pack the bag.

I will take out the suitcases next Thursday morning and pack them. All of the clothes will be packed then. The only things I need to wait until the next morning will be our medications, his CPAP machine and electric razor.

  10. Most of the souvenir shops should have some, check out the Clocktower Mall.

I collect ornaments too. When I can't find something I like, I use a keychain instead. They work just as well, and come with their own hook.

Nice, never thought of using a key chain as an ornament.

  11. For years now, I've been collecting magnets from wherever we go on vacation. I would like to start getting a Christmas ornament or two when we visit someplace.

We'll be in Bermuda in a couple weeks and I'd like to know where in King's Wharf and St. George will I be able to find ornaments? I don't believe we'll be going into Hamilton this time. I'll also be getting one on the ship as well.

  12. I was reading a couple reviews on Crystal Woolridges Horse & Buggy Tour over on Trip Advisor and see that most everyone LOVED their tour.

Have any of you taken this tour before? We're leaving in 3 weeks to Bermuda and this is something that I'm wondering about. I can't find a website for more info. Just wondering if it's something we need to book ahead of time or can we just walk right up and get a ride?

If you have any info on this please let me know. Thanks

  13. I vaguely remember someone mentioning that when you're down in the area of the Town Square, there is a store that sells scrapbooking supplies. It could have very well been a dream, lol but I'm pretty sure I read it on here before. I didn't really pay much attention to it thinking we weren't ever going to Bermuda again but we're heading there in August and I'd like to pop into the store if it does exist.

    Thanks

  14. I've been a long time wearer of Crocs. I wear them just about everyday (except winter). But I HATE wearing them on a cruise (especially when walking near the pool areas). They are SLIPPERY!!! I have an injured knee as it is so I'm always careful of the way I walk, but if I have to walk near the pool area for any reason, I am super careful. I'd like a shoe that could possibly be a slip on with a good grip on the bottom so I don't have to worry much about the wet deck.

    Any suggestions?

  15. I'll be on the Sky from Aug 18-Aug 21.

I will need to receive a phone call on my cell phone on the last day (we'll be at Great Stirrup Cay) around 9:00 am.

I have Verizon. I'm just wondering if there is decent service and will be able to hear the call well (important call) and also I would need to know how expensive this call is going to run me. Do I find out from Verizon somehow? Or will there be ship charges?
