  1. As others have noted, the newer is that you get two coupons for two meals. BUT, the coupons are good for two people. You can treat a second person on your voucher. If that second person is also Platinum you can treat each other and both get four meals. On some of the roll calls or pages on the face-place they do link up solos for this purpose.
  2. Quite possibly. But have seen far too many tipping threads go off the rails.
  3. If you’re thinking of sailing NCL again, call CAS. They are not good at communicating freebies, but it’s in their system. You will likely get at least a discount. They usually give me 20%. I’m not that big of a gambler. Definitely more than $50,. 😂. But it’s been enough to get discounts and the occasional free inside. Booking through CAS has its advantages. And it’s great having your own “casino guy”. LOL
  4. Spice is the nay adult only area that is free. You can get Vibe passes, but that’s not free. Haven’t gone solo on the Joy, but have on other NCL ships. There will be solo gatherings each night. There’s no way to know how many solos are onboard. It could be a handful or could be more than 100. sorry, don’t know. I don’t know. Sorry. I would avoid Presidents Day week if you don’t want a lot of kids onboard. Sorry, I have to laugh at this. As others have said, $50 won’t even get you on the radar. That being said, nobody really knows what the criteria is. It’s easier to earn perks on the slots than the tables. Just make sure you use your card whenever you gamble. For the next trip, call Casinos at Sea and see what they can do for you. If you spend enough, you may not get a free cruise, but they may offer a discount. And if you book through them you get free drinks in the casino, including bottled water. But $50 will not get you anything. Sorry.
  5. They say it’s usually 2-3 days before sailing. Sometimes longer if you’re lucky. On our sailing on the Joy in September we found out we won two hours after boarding. in other words, there’s no way to know, but a good guess is a few days before. They fill the Haven cabins first to open up more cabins for people bidding on your original room.
  6. Can we just stop these threads? They get very old. I don’t care if it is “hypothetical”. At the end of the day you’re paying approximately $20/day for alcohol, sodas, etc. if that’s too much, don’t get the package and pay by the drink. To the OP - I really want to believe that you’re being sincere here, but I can’t help but think you’re trying to stir the pot. This issue has been debated/discussed repeatedly. Always ends in an argument. Get the package or don’t, your choice. But to even contemplate asking for a refund of a pro-rated percent take of the gratuities you paid is ludicrous. Just my opinion, but don’t we have better things to discuss?
  7. I completely agree. You have to expect to get Covid if you go on a cruise. I caught it on the Joy in September. My son caught it on a Virgin ship in August. My husband caught it on a Virgin ship three weeks ago. Ironically it hit our 22 YO son much harder than it did my husband and I. We’re all vacated and boosted. My husband I had a headache and a stuffy nose for 24 hours. Neither ever had a fever. Tested negative five days later. Our son was miserable for a week.
  8. Sorry, but I don’t appreciate this post. Personally I’ve found the “adults” with a drink package to be a bigger problem than the young adults on the ship. This policy was the reason that we started sailing NCL. My then 18 YO son wanted to be able to go to the nightclubs. He couldn’t if he couldn’t drink. I can’t blame him. A cruise ship for an 18-20 YO is an awkward place to be. You don’t want to hang with the younger teenagers, and they understandably don’t want to hang with their parents all the time. This gives them more options. The only issue we had was that my son was buying beer for his friends.n Without a drink package, that got expensive fast and we put an end to it quickly. 😂. But I’m with the others that say it’s the kids that aren’t allowed to do anything that are the ones that go nuts. Personal opinion, of course, but I think most 18-20 year olds are mature enough for this. I know my son was - absent the buying drinks for friends thing. 😂
  9. I agree that NCL isn’t dropping the solo supplement as often as they used to. As far as the FAS goes, there’s really not that much difference for a solo vs. double occupancy. A solo traveler gets half off the airfare, as opposed to the second traveler free. Same difference. A solo only pays grats for one - including the dining and drink packages and only pays taxes and fees for one. The excursion perk actually works out better for solos because you get the full $50. I travel solo or with a friend often. On the rare occasion they drop the solo supplement it’s actually cheaper to get two rooms than to share a cabin. (I always get the FAS. The perks are worth it for me as opposed to a sail away rate.)
  10. We did this for our son before he turned 21. Unless something has changed, they cannot get a drink package. You pay by the drink. If they have FAS, they get the soda package.
  11. It will be. This judgment will ever be collected.
  12. Did you get a case number? Either way I would either call them or resubmit.
  13. That is not true. All of my cruises in the last year and a half (5 of them plus one cancelled cruise) have been booked as a CAS comp or discount. I have two more booked in March and April of 2023. I got the shareholder OBC on every one of them.
  14. You need to dispute this. Unless there’s more to this story, the charges for the restaurant and service charges are wrong. There is no additional charge for the Haven restaurant or bar. The DSCs are separate.
  15. I do agree that they could do a better job at communicating what you have out there. More than once I called to price out a trip only to find out I had a comp that I knew nothing about. And the waits can be long, but get your own “Casino Guy”. I have a direct number for him. Usually have to leave a message, but it’s never been more than 24 hours for a return call.
  16. Obviously completely up to you and depends on your preferences/priorities, but I’ve found that it’s cheaper to just pay the extra over the $15 limit if I want something outside the standard package than to pay for the premium package. And I always get one or two Starbucks a day, It’s still cheaper than paying for the upgraded package.
  17. The only problem with that is the casino bar is only open when the casino is open. So if you have a port intensive cruise there are plenty of times when your free drinks card is useless. For $20 a day, I’ll gladly get the FAS so I can get a drink anywhere, any time.
  18. I’m with you on this. It was either a huge mistake on the bill or OP is trying to stir up drama and outrage.
  19. Just another hint. You can apply the military discount to CAS bookings too. 10% off the fee you paid for upgrades. I’ve also been happy with CAS. As you said, there’s not always a free cabin offered, but they always offer a discount. And I really like having my “Casino Guy” there to price things out for me and take care of details. The free drinks in the casino isn’t that big of a deal because we always get the drink package, but it is good for the bottled (boxed) water. We always pick up a few the night before a port day. And I always get a few treats in the cabin from the casino host. On my ten day trip in April we got them every day, plus a bottle of wine. Nice touch. And I’m not that big of a gambler. If you spend any time/money in the casino it’s worth giving them a call.
  20. It’s on the invoice that was mailed. I do t know why you can’t pull up the invoice from the website, but it’s on the emailed invoice,
  21. That doesn’t sound right. I would call back.
  22. Just to add that if you take a deviation you actually get a $25 each way credit. You have to arrange your own transfers to the ship, which I prefer to do anyway.
  23. They may have changed the rules. I had booked our April trip in October. He was able to simply apply the discount.
  24. No. If I recall correctly I wasn’t able to get any kind of discount for the comped cruise - even the amount we paid to upgrade to the balcony. On the sailing with the discount that we did get the discount for, it was applied to the fare paid, even though that showed as an “Admin fee” instead of “cruise fare” on the invoice, if that makes sense.
  25. My husband is a veteran and I am not. We were both able to validate through ID Me and now the status is tied to both of our NCL accounts. We had two cruises on the books, both booked through CAS - one a comp and one simply a discount - both before final payment. I called CAS. They were not able to apply the discount to what we paid to upgrade the comp cabin, bit he did apply the discount to the April sailing against the discounted cruise fare that we paid. He didn’t have to rebook, just applied the discount. It shows as “DISC50” on the invoice. (As opposed to DISC40 for the normal promotion.) So, two points. First, if they tell you it can’t be applied to an existing booking, keep trying. Second, the discount applies to both the veteran and the spouse, the ID Me system is very easy and fast. If your spouse is already verified, it takes about three minutes to confirm your status as a military spouse. My husband isn’t going on the trip we got the discount on, but the discount still applied because I’m verified as a military spouse and qualify in my own right.
