  1. Thanks for the great review and pictures.

We sailed on the Getaway last year. Like you our Getaway experience was totally different from our previous NCL trips. For that reason we sail on the Getaway again on 7/21/15!

While RCCL's Diamond and Celebrity's Elite status trumps all others, we too found NCL and the Getaway to be new favorites.

  2. Even if you get there later, I would still go and try and get them.

I know this is a little different, but we were on the Epic over spring break, in boarding group 14 and we there were still Posh Passes available.

    So you just never know.

    Thanks

  3. Just adding another idea into the mix here.

On our recent Christmas BA cruise, we were #2 in line for Vibe passes - got to the port at 9:30 am. We raced to guest services on boarding and were #2

The people in front of us were booking TWELVE vibe passes. Two people, booking twelve passes for their entire party. I was kind of taken aback. There's no reason why they couldn't do that, I guess, but when I was factoring in "line ups" I guess that scenario never occurred to me. There must be policy, which I haven't bothered to look up, I got my pass and was happy, I'm just letting the OP know that such a scenario is possible. If you really want the passes, I'd probably take the cab.

    Thanks

But even with the cab my issue is arriving in FLL @ 11:15 AM!

Again, I have never had a bad cruise. With or without Vibe passes this will be just another super vacation!

    Thanks again,

    I am taking the cab!

  4. I think you need to ask yourself if $75 is an acceptable fee for an increased chance at something you really want. I've had Vibe passes before and if I thought spending $75 extra gave me even a 50/50 shot...I'd spend it in a heartbeat.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Based on the response my juvesgirl my chance would be next to nil, therefore, the smart bet would be to bank the $75.

We had Vibe passes on the Getaway last April and enjoyed them but with juvesgirl assertion that I should assume that the passes would be sold made the decision a no brainer.

My hope, with this thread, was to have members opine on the likely of acquiring passes after arriving at FLL at 11:15 AM. Based on juvesgirl assessment mine is an easy decision.

    Thanks

  5. I think it totally depends on a million unpredictable factors...I think it really varies from cruise to cruise based on population, time of year, etc. I think you should assume it is going to sell out and make the decision on how badly you want the passes.

I'll assume it will sell out....safe the difference ($75) between the cabfare from FLL to the Port of Miami and the cost of shuttle service provided by SAS Transpotation.

    Thanks

  6. Cash is always better. That way you know that your tip goes to the person who gave you the great service.

You can get the extra $$ by either going to your bank pre cruise, or going to the casino or guest relations and asking them to break down a larger bill.

We usually lighten our wallets by a buck or so every day and by the time the cruise comes around we have lots of singles to take with us.

    Thanks

  7. We have sailed on the Getaway in the past and had the please of obtaining Vibe passes upon boarding the ship.

We were, however, in Boarding Group 1.

Next month our flight arrives later in the day and I doubt we will be in Boarding Group 1.

We could incur the added cost of a cab instead of shuttle transportation. This would expedite our arrival at the dock but may still not put us in Boarding Group 1.

Does anyone know how quickly the passes sell out?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  8. Your UBP promotion is completely paid for, including any gratuity... Enjoy it!

There are bartenders and bar servers who will definitely earn an extra tip given the opportunity. It never hurts to spread a little around especially to your favorite poolside server... They will take extra good care of you :) A little scratch can go a long way :)

    Thanks,

  9. If you read the promotion's terms and conditions you'll see it says "Ultimate beverage package option includes 15% gratuity on the package", so you shouldn't have to tip. In theory NCL will roll money into the tip pool as if you had purchased the UBP. Of course you can always tip the server or bartender an additional amount if you wish.

I didn't read the promotion. I was no aware of the promotion. It was offered on the phone while booking.

But you're probably right if I had read the promotion I would have seen that.

    Sorry for your trouble.

  10. I had the opportunity, upon booking, to receive the Ultimate Beverage Package free. I goes without saying that I accepted the offer.

However, since I did not pay for the package, how do I tip?

As I understand the process, upon purchase of the package a 15% gratuity is tacked on....

I want the recognize the hard working bar staff but I'm not sure of the protocol in this circumstance.

I am very familiar the gratuity process but not very familiar with the for free process as it relates to booking a cruise.

    Help.

    Thanks in advance

  11. We were just in Venice, wanted to travel to Florence. When we arrived at the station about 9:30, the next two departures were sold out already. So we had to wait for 3+ hours.

You make the call. Fortunately a train runs about every 90 minutes Venice to Florence.

    Thanks

  12. Traveling from Venice (Mestre) to Florence .....I hope to buy rail tickets at the station that day 8/14/14!

Is this wise or should I buy in advance!

The same day option gives me much more flexibility since my flight is scheduled to land at Marco Polo at 11:00AM! Do I book the 12:40PM...What if the plane is late ....Do I book the 2:40 and wait at the station for hours if my plane arrives on time!

Thanks in advance for your help!
