  1. Back from my cruise just wanted to post an update for reference.

I ended up walking to the distillery and back. 30 min walk each way. It was mostly safe with sidewalks but there were a couple places where I had to cross a busy road without a crosswalk and walk in the grass or side of the road with no sidewalk. Nobody tried to bother me while I was walking each way.

  2. @tartist Thank you. Glad you enjoyed. I didn't book through the ship, so just hoping someone can chime in on what a taxi from the port to the distillery would be.

I saw at least one review on another site where someone on the ship apparently walked there. Its about a 30 minute walk one way.

For those worried about travel advisories. Have you looked at the US passport / travel site? There are advisories for just about everywhere! Different levels 1, 2, 3, etc. I'm going on an 8 day in May to Aruba, Dominican, & Curacao. Guess what? They're all on the list !

All countries are level 1 at a minimum, which means exercise normal caution.

If the tubs were actually hot, I'd imagine Carnival would have worse problems on their hands. Hot weather, hot water, alcohol, obesity. That's not going to end well.

BIngo! And then if someone ends up dead the family then sues carnival.

Thank goodness for serenity area existing. But the adults only pool and hot tubs are a favorite thing about the Conquest class for me.

The US is not innocent nor free of this at all either, to your point. There is plenty of poverty and criminal as well as gang activity in cities all across the US.

Which is quite frankly why I don't understand the people in here clutching their pearls about not stepping foot in the Bahamas or some of these other places when the same things could happen in most cities in the US just as easily.

The difference is that if you're an american and something like this happens to you in the US, you aren't in a foreign country whose economy is almost entirely run by tourism, with a police force that is in cahoots with the local tourism businesses and just waiting for you to go back home and they will not press charges because they want to keep the crime statistics as low as possible.

EDIT: Although I'm sure this exact same scenario can easily play out in the US, it greatly depends on where in the country it took place, and it isn't practically guaranteed to happen like in the bahamas.

Losing your table when you go get a refill in the buffet. Left hats, bags and much of the time come back to find them sitting on floor with other cruisers taking my table.

WOW! Such rudeness and entitlement to just move someone else's stuff.

I have certainly left my table at the buffet for a minute or two to go get something or use the bathroom, and then come back to my plate and beverage being gone. The buffet workers sometimes are just way too overzealous about clearing tables. And this was at a time when the buffet wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables. I think the worker was just bored.

and this was definitely going to be my answer to this thread.

I had a girl at my Mdr table who hates texas. I kinda pulled back and she said see I didnt say I hate the people just texas. But it's her closest port. Hard not to react when someone keeps saying they hate texas. .. but dont take it personally. She was from Kansas or someplace cold.

I like the food and music in Texas. But don't want to visit right now for other reasons I won't go into here.

  8. Wow.... sounds like you had the airport experience from hades.

I hate rude entitled people. The problem is in today's world if you stand up to them when they try to cut you in line or whatever, you have to wonder ok is this some unhinged lunatic whose gonna come at me with a knife, or even has a gun. Not that someone at the airport should realistically have a gun but still.
